  1. I thought the race was very well organised, had no issues with the directions/signs (but I got dropped, so rode mostly on my own). Didn't take in the race village but used the parking and generally had a good experience. Two things that stood out for me: 1. Was also in B bunch and also thought that the Motorcycle Marshall was very good. Kudo's! 2. Very happy about the fact that there were metro officers on almost every corner. And most were very friendly. Will defs be back next year. Nothing like a proper home town race. PS. Does anyone know what happened to the rider down in Centurion/Lyttelton? The bunch passed the ambulance and rider on a stretcher.
  2. Looking for some help... This is my pet project, the fork will be chromed and have some Velocity Deep V wheels that'll go with it. The shifters have seen some life - mechanically still in very good condition. However, the caps require some repainting and from what I can tell, the clear coat on the levers are coming off. I'm going to lightly sand the dust caps and respray. Do I then just sand and polish the levers? Anyone know where I can get 5500 hoodies?
  3. 'n Paar lekker foties daar! Ja those roadworks made for some interesting riding. Would have been nice if they were marked in some way. None the less, enjoyed the race. The second half and the wind made it tough. Descended Hekpoort in a group of 6 and caught a larger group just before the left to Magalies. The group was grenaded shortly after Magalies, rode in a smaller group till about the game reserve and more or less solo'd to the end. Nice to see a lot of support from the Metro police. Will be back next year.
  4. I'll get in on that action, very close to Lynnwood Bridge and work in Sandton. Edit: Just need to figure out where to leave my bike at the office.
  5. Was also very surprised to receive my goods today after only ordering yesterday. Thanks Bikalot! Edit: Oh and yes, thank you for the extras!
  6. Shot Shot, I realised I didn't post distance or elevation (according to Strava): Distance: 78.6km Elevation: 961m Go down Sterkfontein and Hekpoort and back up on the Magalies side (that's the uphill drag). Best.
  7. I attached a GPX - give me a shout if you don't come right. Mogale Spring Race.zip
  8. Good description ???? You can collect your number on the morning of the race. No batches, just distances.
  9. Hi U/A, done the race a number of times. Relatively small race, route usually is well marked with marshalls on every corner. The Kdp Metro also provided some support in the previous years. Very similar to the Wilro Lions/Berge & Dale standard. I.e. no road closure and small shoulder, if available. It's for a good cause and I enjoy the race. I take it you didn't do it in 2016????
  10. I found it very decent, well marshalled. Didn't have any issues with the cars, but I can imagine some civilians being very unhappy. Those are some busy roads. Rode in BL, again felt the bunch was a bit nervous. Specially with the cones, one of them ping ponged between a few riders, with some less than happy guys and girls. The second half of Lynnwood felt neutralised as everyone ready for Hans Strydom. It felt like a climb, not just a bump, but still good. Will be back for it.
  11. Let's hope De Bod can crack a top 10, 17th from last to start: Stefan De Bod (South Africa) 15:18:30
  12. Best of luck to him, hope he heals up soon. And that this doesn't stop him from riding. Also not too far from me and makes me very sad.
  13. Also rode in BL, felt like a V-batch type race and was also dropped for good measure. Winter training didn't go according to plan apparently - finished in 3:03. Was also passed by white bakkie towing a caravan. Stayed out the way, but the lady in the passenger seat was giving me some stick about who knows what. Had a poodle on her lap. Kudos to the organisers. Lots of friendly marshals on each corner and intersection. Also had a motorbike with us constantly. And this year's shirt is much nicer than last year.

    La Vuelta 2019

An absolute spectical to behold the last 3 weeks. Roggas had it coming, and more. I am sorry Nairoman didn't make the podium, but Pogacar, gosh. Edit: Grammar.

    La Vuelta 2019

Seemed to be a slowish speed fall. He's ok, seemed like Tony Martin was on the ground. Superman was also in the crash but is up again. Movistar went for it.

    La Vuelta 2019

Well done Pogacar! And I'm happy Nairo caught up again. The scenery reminds me of the Drakensberg. Beautiful scenery, beautiful race.
