  1. Good luck! I was in the mood to make a sweeping statement which actually requires 8 pages of explanation, but only realised that this about halfway in. Yes, I'm too lazy to type it all out, and probably also too lazy to follow this up with much clarification!
  2. Haha, yep. If something doesn't make sense, it doesn't make sense. Unless of course you're a juggernaut with tens of billions of dollars (hundreds of millions don't cut it with these kinds of things) to plow into changing the risk model itself by flooding the market with [insert physical product or other carefully calculated offering here] and changing how entire markets consume your thing. This kind of scale is only achieved with global reach and *very* deep pockets, unfortunately...
  3. Confucius say: Underlying fundamentals and variables make financing a bicycle like financing a French automobile.
  4. I think you need a 2nd set, this one specifically... https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/64052-29er-wheelset-with-rotors-and-skewers/
  5. Believe it or not, no! She did have a small brain though, seeing as she opened my package (which has my name on the label!) before realising that it wasn't meant for her. WTF. Nothing quite like knowing someone else has had a peek at your shiny new XX1 cranks...
  6. Hah, DHL "delivered" my order to a random business in our office block the other day, their receptionist signed for it. I only realised this because online tracking showed "delivered, signed for by Lyle". I don't know a Lyle, so had to get the block's security to help me figure out what happened. Crazy!
  7. ...none of which has ever appealed to me.
  8. I was just thinking exactly the same thing...
  9. Quite ironic that this statement can be extrapolated to the world as a whole. On the hub, people get banned. In the world, people get killed.
  10. Sorry, I should have been clearer. I didn't crash with Crests, I crashed with wheels which weren't strong enough. Different variables, same outcome. It hurt like a @#$.
  11. Until he lands his front wheel just a couple of centimetres off his intended line. Here's a reminder of what happened to me in January, seeing as the thread got lost in the hub crash earlier this year.... I launched a roller, landed just slightly skew with a below-average-strength (1 month old) wheel, folded the front, and crashed so hard that I dinged the rear wheel as it whiplashed over. I cracked my left collarbone 80% of the way through, was in a sling for 6 weeks (couldn't drive a manual car), could ride again lightly after 8 weeks, and only got fully up to speed after about 12 weeks. Get rid of them.
  12. Nope, there shouldn't be any duties. I took DHL on about it, and they reversed it today. You're going to get billed DHL's R150 disbursement fee in addition to VAT, just be aware of that.
  13. @#$, DHL just sent me an invoice with both CD (customs duties) and VAT amounts of about 15% each on a set of cranks and chainring. Have queried it with them, but it really annoys me that they get it wrong in the first place. Surely they do this stuff all the time and shouldn't be making these kinds of mistakes? a R1k bill on R3.4k worth of cranks would be lunacy.
  14. Don't think that was taken today, it was raining earlier but fairly sunny-ish now...
  15. Almost your entire reply is NSFW.
  16. Not if the window you last used is on a different monitor...
  17. Nah, golfers don't ride them.
  18. Haha, you should know when asking Crow for a clarification that you're going to get a *proper* one BTW, I have a Scale 940 and love it. Light, responsive, well specced - except for the fork. Fox's Evolution level stuff is just not all that great. Stiction and damping finickiness are the operative words. Out of these 3, I'd go for the Momsem.
  19. That, my friend, is how it should be. It's flabbergasting seeing all these full suspension "marathon" rigs doing jeep track duty only. 95% of the muppets riding them could do with properly set up hardtails.
  20. Yep, unfortunately that one won't work (I tried the exact same one )... If you're willing to hang on for a couple of days, I'll have an SLX (like this one: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-slx-m670-10spd-front-derailer) which you can have for R150 + postage? I'm busy converting to 1x10 on my Scale HT, so will have a few parts that have done about 500km up for grabs soon.
  21. When I still had mine, I used to run it with a top-swing SLX. I don't particularly like top-swings, because they develop play quicker than "conventional" derailleurs, but it worked fine. Top-swings can usually accept a pull from either top/bottom, mine was running from the top as you can see in the pic. A normal top-pull (ie bottom-swing) derailleur doesn't fit properly, so don't even try.
  22. Didn't think so. Probably a good thing... I'll wait for the X01 pricing once you have it available and will then make a call, thanks!
  23. But I'd guess not in that funny 3-bolt FSA format?
  24. A bashguard on a lightweight go-fast XC HT? Sacrilege These look cool: http://www.chainreac...et/rp-prod90245 ...but they have a funny 3-bolt 104bcd setup, wonder if I'd be able to get a wolftooth to match... Nah, looks proprietary, not a good idea.
