  1. Glad you getting to experience that side of the game. While I miss it, I'm having fun flying solo for the time being. Could not have gone with my game plan if I were in a team...
  2. So did you win your age cat? πŸ˜› Just kidding. Fourth for a non-sprinter is super. Did you pull your classic long sprint?
  3. Yip. Ending on top of Ou Kaaps. πŸ‘Œ
  4. Cape Cobra - A race with so much climbing the winning time is below 34km/h avg speed... I miss this one the most!
  5. Mykonos, P Le Grange, Eversdal, Bellville North, Brackenfell, Bonnievale, Cape Cobra, Redhill Challenge... I'm sure I'm missing a ton, but so many great memories...
  6. the $ field being so closely packed and having 75% of the riders finishing comfortably ahead of the fastest finisher of any other bunch, all while ignoring time and just focusing on racing is quite a thing!
  7. 50% finished within the block, the reset within the blue lines (25% faster, and 25% slower than the box), and the dots were not seeded in the right group to match their abilities (outliers).
  8. I was 23s faster than I predicted.
  9. Because you don't agree with @FootballingCyclist or because "ALOT" isn't a word? 😜
  10. He was already going down at that point, hitting the cateye underneath blueman's front wheel... He came from one rank back so probably didn't pay attention to the slow down you can see and hear happening right before the crash...
  11. Racetec never used to be this pathetic, and I'm confused as to why they are regressing in their service since they still use the exact same technology they were using when I started racing 21 years ago... At Tour de PPA the winner had daylight over the riders in second and third, but was "provisionally" placed 3rd on the same time as the oke in 2nd. Folks talking about "time to process" also confuses me. It's raw data, there is no processing required. Hence Racetec's ability 10 years ago to sms you your official time within seconds of you crossing the mats.
  12. Avoid sketchy bunches with this one simple trick: Off the front, or off the back. I rolled with 4 or 5 attacks today, but unfortunately not the one with @Sid the Sloth that would eventually stick... 😫
  13. Use tape if you don't have longer ones, and put it on your seatpost if not enough real estate on the bars.
  14. For those lucky enough to receive the peas and rice: https://www.cookincanuck.com/split-pea-stew-recipe-cauliflower/
  15. It seems the racing groups are getting chips, while the later groups are getting rice and split peas. Strange as I'd venture a guess the racers are the ones most likely to actually use the rice and peas... Calling @Sid the Sloth, cows=friends, peas=food...
  16. 50:50 Either the will or they won't...
  17. Pfft. Look at mr amateur over here, still carrying a phone when racing. What's next, a spare tube? /s
  18. They both held veteran licenses in those years though. Was Hoffman awarded a veterans victory in 2021 when he won? He's always held an elite license...
  19. My reading of the comms is also that it is irrespective of your license held. i.e. you need to be in $ which requires one of a few racing licenses, then the best placed person within each age range gets a prize on Monday morning. Might be wrong, but it appears you can have an elite license and still take the 30-34 or 35-39 prize...
  20. Maybe he'll have so much fun he'll keep riding...
  21. Pritzen DNS'd Tour du Cap stage 3 citing health and lingering fatigue from Rwanda. Let's hope the guys can bounce back stronger!
  22. I missed Barney's first attack (pictured here at the front) while sitting at the back feeling sorry for myself. His next two attacks I was on him like a shadow and countered the last one even. Then he disappeared. @Jbr saw him pulling over with a mechanical (found out afterwards a big gash in his tyre). Man was ready to bring a fight! Pity to DNF on the final day. Rest of the day was all about staying safe, surviving crosswind gutters and punchy climbs. Here's me in white enjoying my Sunday morning... πŸ₯΄
  23. Plenty of riders finish with ample time in the bank to start by ~9:30... πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  24. Virtual repeat in the result for this duo at Poreč Trophy (1.2) yesterday...
  25. From warm-up to rolling back to the car it was raining, drizzling, or for brief moments the water only came up from the road and not also down from the sky... In a word: Wet. No huge downpours luckily.
