  1. We have Pritzen, Hatherly, and Lange in this continental team. A lot of the races are a bit obscure, so let's hype it up in a thread!
  2. The wind only picked up later in the morning. We had a taste of some cross winds, and then turned into the headwind before the tailwind finale. Those that started later likely battled all the way from Malmesbury...
  3. I mean, I prefer a hello before you get in my draft, but other than that I have no issue with now having to point out obstacles and flapping my wings before getting out the saddle. Admittedly, it's not all that frequent, and people get in my draft because they want to hitch a ride, not because of the jersey I'm wearing, and they don't bury themselves trying to stay in my draft...
  4. Has anyone seen photo's posted somewhere?
  5. Not much wind predicted, but if it blows it's a 20km gutter from halfway into a 10km block headwind before a 20km tailwind section on the rollers into the finish...
  6. I wonder what Winelands race these okes are doing on Sunday (or what their social media handler is smoking)...
  7. He's heading to Gabon soon for his debut with the team. Will be interesting to see if he comes back for nationals.
  8. He's firing on all cylinders and put over a minute into Munton at this TT. Heat training now in Wellington before spending some time in Somerset West and then he'll be off to Oudtshoorn. Everything lined up to get ready for the heat of UAE Tour. My money is on him for sure!
  9. It was a tad warm, and a tad windy, but not terrible? The year before we swam to the start line...
  10. Yip. Veterans were faster than elites out the gate and only gave up the time gained after 100km. Different race, different tactics, different distances etc, but this shows what you are saying nicely. Graph is normalised to vets and shows the elites at first giving up part of their 10min head start...
  11. WP always uses self seeding, and in my experience people are better at self seeding than what the Racetec system with it's arbitrary adjustment values and penalty system is. The mechanism to stop riders going up a cat prematurely is fear of getting your legs smashed off, and the mechanism to stop sandbagging is public shaming... 🤷‍♂️
  12. I think both sides are trash.
  13. Communication from 99er last year: ``` The City of Cape Town recently repaired potholes on Vissershok Road, but conditions on Visserskhok remain a concern. After extensive discussions with the road's authorities, it was decided to change the 99er long route, in the interest of safety. ```
  14. I doubt there's much cross communication between these organisers. PPA either feels the road is not that bad, or most likely haven't even given the road surface any consideration...
  15. There's only one way to actually get to the top of Visser's and it aint easy...
  16. @Jbr also not many 123-rest blocks visible on mine... Although I'm seeing a few of the 12-sick blocks 😄
  17. I like how you can clearly see I was a fun rider in 2019 (also the year my first was born). Then I had a COVID + kid inspired life re-evaluation in 2020 - changed jobs and decided to give competitive cycling another go. Also cool to see the two clear off-seasons in the last two seasons (@Jbr can attest to the importance of this). Off-season last year started a month earlier due to my second child's birth. My illness struggles in Sep and Nov last year also clearly visible.
  18. > How successful were they? Super successful guys working with renowned performance coaches and competing on the highest level. With one of them I'd venture a guess the only days off were for international travel and max 5 days due to illness. I do believe not all rides are training and more so that not all uploads are even rides. Okes do their hikes and 20min jogs or golf or swimming in the off season and upload that too. I have no problem with that, but posting your 350 days active stat to IG where thousands of youngsters follow you should come with a disclaimer...
  19. Another note on chasing stats. I was quite appalled at the number of local pros sharing Strava year summaries with dangerously few rest days (some in the single digits) without any context. I'd hate for youngsters to think they have to train 350 days a year if they want to perform like so-and-so.
  20. I'm in. 😀 Interesting rules around your captain selection having a daily cost, but still too good to not pick one... So, who's winning TDU prologue? 🤔
  21. Michael Valgren in recovery from major injuries and might have opportunities to represent the WorldTour team again later in the season. He broke his pelvis earlier this year.
  22. Was meant to be just banter, but my quick picks in Flyby has resulted in professional data manipulation accusations... 🙃 All's well, we're racing in group starts for the next 20 events (those of us that actually race... 😉)
  23. Eish, you got me out of my corner... Was just trying to reverse the shade after I got shaded for mentioning the Mother's careful editing to avoid showing who was driving their train... 😉 Your investigation is accurate. Pink bro was picked up by Go-Cycle a bit earlier than the rest of the Mothers. Green bro was dropped by Savages who were not losing time to Go-Cycle. Flybys show lines converging everywhere amongst the top 10 contenders. I've resolved to compare our time relative to the podium teams only, and I'm okay with that.
  24. These are top 10 teams... I mean we're all amateurs, even those on the podium, and we all enjoyed the banter and the gees, but we also enjoy some level of fair competition. I'm not alone in this opinion, but I'll go back to my corner now. 😉
