  1. Anyone have experience racing on Tufo Comtura 4 TR? Not much independent testing data out there...
  2. Remco's own teammates weren't even behind/around him... 🤫
  3. It's a good day for it! 🤞
  4. IMO the 3km rule does not achieve it's intended purpose and should be revised or scrapped. For safety reason you could give sprint stages a timing arch and a finish line. There is no fixed distance between the two, it's decided by what is reasonable for the run-in to the sprint. There is no debate about what or how or where when or with whom when it comes to splits after the timing arch, since the timed stage is over. There is no artificial adjustment, as it's you physically crossing a line. There are no worries about the ethics of nursing a soft wheel to make it to the timing arch. Anyway, not the thread for it, and not Friday...
  5. Seems possible he punctured with 7km to go and rode into the safe zone before stopping. There's no way Rog had any knowledge of where the red jersey was when he attacked.
  6. So if I commute to work and back that's a 9 hour ride? There's no point in tracking time spent doing an activity if you play fast and loose with your definition of the activity.
  7. Hang on, I think I left my head unit on pause this morning...
  8. Looks like the W to me...
  9. I don't actually have a horse in this race, just wanted to mention the CTCT that he won the day after competing in MTB world cup.
  10. Other than that ol' race in Cape Town in 2019? He get's on the road often enough...
  11. Thanks for this. I'm surprised that the opinion RE the cyclists is so one sided. We weren't told how many riders in the group, only that the group rode three abreast. Riding single file while eating the gutter can be very dangerous as cars will see that as an invite to overtake and overtaking a 20m long line of riders takes way longer than cars ever realise. Riding single file and taking up an amount of road that is within your legal right removes the invite, but also frustrates cars equally to bunching up, and still has the 20m long line issue once the corner visibility issue is resolved. Bunching up, while not perfect and not the way I would go about it, at least makes a quick safe pass in the opposite lane possible later on and communicates "you shall not pass" on the dangerous sections... Edit: If it was a slow vehicle no-one would be placing the blame on them.
  12. The opening third can be tough if the Southeaster is blowing. The closing kilometers on Adderley is always tough, so keep something in reserve. Other than that just enjoy the day out on the bike. Practice your nutrition on long training rides and don't do anything new on race day.
  13. Is this also your first road race, or just first Durbie Dash?
  14. On par with Woolies oats, and cheaper than Woolies on special. Thanks for the tip. 👍
  15. Let's keep the "cycling is too expensive" talk for that other thread shall we? If the man on the bike loves his bike then that's all that matters.
  16. 8,000 USD for the Ultegra model... 😐
  17. There is actually one model in the line up with mechanical shifting. It's a schlep, but still manageable DIY yes. Some tight bends along the way though.
  18. 😝 I'm 20 months on my current steed and still haven't come down from the high!
  19. I'm not immediately convinced by the purple "black current / chrome" colour, but it might grow on me... The "airglow" looks hot, but I wont be able to afford that bike. Love to dream, but hey love my current propel, and would love to stay on brand. 😀
  20. No, but I'd probably train more and eat better if I owned it...
  21. Get the bike that makes you want to ride it. Folks already giving you advice on how to slow down with gravel bikes or gravel tires when you said "I want speed". Get a bike that looks fast and makes you want to push yourself to go fast. PS. Welcome to the road scene.
  22. Sounds like the start of a Bilbo Baggins quote, not the start of a bike race...
