  1. I would not ride with that bar on my bike.
  2. This route was not marked as public, FYI, please and thank you. 🙂
  3. Depending where the cables and hoses enter the headset a bar + stem from a Giant propel would work. I might have a secondhand set for you soon...
  4. I was in Knysna in 2006 when Operation Puerto broke. I was also there in 2007 rubbing shoulders with John-Lee Augustyn in the Elite field while still a schoolboy. Barloworld deemed him too young for the Tour, but the next year his name would be on all our lips! Good memories of this race. Also my first half-marathon and first marathon were done here...
  5. So your banana bread is egg free? 🤔
  6. Well, it certainly informed me who was asleep when all this went down originally...
  7. I put mine on properly. Feet were damp at the end, but might have been from sweat only (or slight water ingress 🤷‍♂️). My feet were the only part of my body that was comfortable start to finish.
  8. Seller gets his price and a quick sale. Reseller takes on stock risk, likely holds the bike for longer, and has to deal with hagglers trying to get the new price down. Likely still profits. Final owner gets his bike at what is most likely a more accurate fair market price. Next three sellers get better info off of the relisting of what fair market price for their bikes currently is. It's a free market.
  9. A new bike for 5k is a built to fail Massmart bike. Stay well away. Set an alert on classifieds for your (his) area and pick up a workable hardtail 29er. Something similar to what he would buy 3 months later.
  10. My Wahoo hasn't went on since CTCT either, but that's for different reasons... 👀
  11. So I should perhaps not get too excited for October... Got it.
  12. April might be a good slot for it eventually, but folks need time to wrap their heads around the logistics of a big TTT event. Uptake will certainly will beter with this time slot and if it's a good inaugural event then the April slot will be well supported in the future I suspect.
  13. Haha. It was mostly tongue in cheek and certainly not aimed at anyone. If, however, you do ride on only one farbar an hour then don't expect to go much further than what your glycogen reserves can carry you. 😉
  14. They don't. They think that trying to ingest 250g of carbs during a ~100km race is big-carb trying to brainwash the consumers, and they think they are knackered for 36 hours after racing because they raced so hard, not because they depleted their reserves, and they think that they struggle on longer races solely because they didn't prepare well enough and not at all because one farbar an hour is about 3 farbars short of fueling their efforts...
  15. Ah, to be young and foolhardy again... Actually I like my "boring" party-free-wife-kids-and-picket-fences life right now and I like being a decently competitive veteran on top of it... "For everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose." Or something like that. PS - Sorry for derailing the Pee Thread.
  16. 👍 I stepped away from the racing scene for a bit while studying and getting my career going though...
  17. What province were you racing in? I raced Junior in WP 07/08
  18. First time I din't know how it would go so didn't want any witnesses. I had a teammate in the bunch but did the deed solo...
  19. Is your bladder completely full? Are you completely unweighting from the saddle?
  20. Do it on a slight decent. The wind will not allow anything to touch your shoe. If you "fail" like most people do you'll end up with that 30% on your shorts, but that's better than absorbed by your shammy.
  21. It's a multi faceted answer, but the short answer is that when we need to we pee on the bike. For short rides of 120km or less you usually made a miscalculation if you need to pee. Pee when you park you car, again on your warm-up and again in the chutes if you need to. If it's cold you should have been carrying more of your carbs in gel or bar form and not so much liquid. I only carried 800ml for CTCT and only drank 600ml. For rides over 3 hours there will usually be some sections where the pacing is more subdued and controlled. You pull to the side and free wheel, open your hip up and go at it. You'll drop off the back most likely but not by much. Some of the longer events like some recent 160km road rides I've done guys will even stop together and chase back on after stopping. FYI Sagan is not wrong about guys peeing in the middle of the bunch. A certain recent world tour departed rider did this in CTCT Elite bunch, albeit without opening his hips and mostly he pissed on his own bike more than on other riders. Speaking of CTCT, if it's pouring with rain no-one will know if you don't even bother with the gymnastics... Do you drink after thirst off the bike? 3L is a lot. Do you pre-hydrate because you are thirsty? 1+L before a morning start is a lot. Sounds like you might have some dated ideas about hydration that is causing your problems. Drink to thirst in the lead up to the race. If your urine is ever fully clear you overdrank. If you do this then no need to pre-hydrate. PS. Good on you for getting your carb intake rigtht.
  22. I'm on 19 tours. Hoping for my first sub 2h40 before (or when) reaching 21 tours... 😀
  23. I'm enjoying My Wellness Vegan Protein on the odd days where I feel I had to little protein throughout the day. Pea, hemp seed, and rice based. There is fructose in it, but not much and the chocolate one has a very natural Cacoa taste.
