  1. Boven Mountain Traverse...
  2. Not really. Albeit informative, I don't entrust my long term health on some guy/gal on Youtube. I have been doing keto/keto-vore/LCHF under the guidance of a doctor who has seen the light (much like Tim Noakes). People, including some doctors, are and have been waking up, believe it or not.
  3. I recently turned 49. I've been doing keto for 4 years, and during the last 8 months I've been eating carnivore for the most part. I still enjoy a proper salad with lots of avo and cruciferous vegetables once or twice a week. I had extensive blood work done a month ago for insurance purposes. Quoting my doctor, "Your results look like that of a very fit and healthy 30 year old." Five years ago I weighed 130kg, I was constantly tired, sick more often than not, and just felt generally terrible. I had very little energy, and my mental acuity was really poor. I now weigh 90kg, I am on zero medication, and I can't recall when last I was at the doctor or dentist. I eat one meal per day. I train/ride in a fasted state. I can do a 50/75/100km ride with only water in my Camelbak. My concentration levels (and mental acuity) is better than ever. My energy levels are consistent. No crashes or lethargy, and no bonking either. My quality of life has improved exponentially. I feel better, fitter and stronger than ever, and I am basically in the best shape mentally, physically and health wise of my whole adult life. I attribute this to a combination of a keto-vore diet and exercise (TRX, swimming and mountain biking). I will gladly be a halfwit if this is the result.
  4. ... to the office <sigh> How the hell am I supposed to concentrate with that thing on the wall?!
  5. On the Boven Mountain Traverse, en route to Morphine. At the start of Morphine (a 5km downhill - a total blast!)
  6. Ritchey Carbon Outback Breakaway.
  7. The Slade took me on a 5 hour outing yesterday. What a day! At the start of Road to Nowhere, on the way to Stairway to Heaven... Going up Stairway to Heaven, on the way to Gum Drop... At the start of Gum Drop... At the bottom of Gum Drop, a total blast (and I think I detected a little "briekmerk" in my onderbroek, maybe.) On the way home via the Rim Trail...
  8. Doing some "test" riding on the Tranquilitas Rim Trail for my brother to practice his drone flying skills.
  9. The Slade took me on a Sunday afternoon ride from Waterval Boven to Tranquilitas and Back via the Rim Trail. The fun factor on this bike is off the charts.
  10. First outing with the new Rapidé SkyRize-R 780 bars fitted. The Slade took me all over the Tranquilitas trail system.
  11. Ordered Rapidé SkyRize-R 780 bars and Isolator lock-on grips for the Slade. As usual, top notch and super speedy service from Wayne. Makes the bike look just a little more #enduro #moto. I did a short test ride, and the slight rise feels really nice. Can't wait to hit the trails... T minus 60!
  12. I squeezed in a quick ride before work up and down the Tranquilitas Rim trail. #addictedtothisbike
  13. I now have an enduro bike. 'Cause Jewie said so. (Yesssss....)
  14. Pretty much. Conversely, I went for a 50km gravel grind on my trail bike with a few friends today. I didn't really have a problem keeping up with the dirt roadies (I call them that in person, so don't flame me), and my ride was a lot more comfy compared to on my XCO bike.
  15. It's a riding culture thing. The riding culture in SA is very different from that in Europe and the USA for example, where you see a lot more people on trail/enduro type bikes in comparison (meaning, not the actual numbers, but percentage wise in terms of XCO/XCM vs. Trail/Enduro).
  16. As someone who just recently went from a XCO/XCM weapon to a 140mm HT trail bike, this is hitting the proverbial nail on the head. Well said.
  17. I can attest to this. I only recently started riding a trail bike (140mm HT). What a Revelation!
  18. I got my Slade Trail last week Friday. It's been a total blast.
  19. I had a XC bike until recently. Got a 140mm travel trail bike (Silverback Slade) and I'm not regretting it for a second. I should have done this long ago. Enjoy the Camber!
  20. Had some fun on the "Rooibaard" trail today at Tranquilitas.
  21. More fun at Tranquilitas with the Slade (it was hellishly hot here today!)
  22. Took the Slade out on some single track at Tranquilitas for its maiden ride.
