  1. Are you putting the bead that's on the rim in the central "pit"? If you don't do this then it's tough.
  2. I don't think we're thinking of the same kind of singletrack.
  3. Hey, no ones' saying that it's not fun. But it could be funner.
  4. Ya, but the seeding doesn't take into account that you actually can't ride a mountain bike properly. There's a difference between a cadence class and riding singletrack well.
  5. I reckon they need to have enduro type sections on day 1, where you're timed down pieces of singletrack. Then that gets used for your batching on day 2. After racking my brains while stuck behind people that can't even ride around a switchback, this is the only viable idea. The lack of basic bike skill on Sani is astounding.
  6. Even with all the trial and error, and all the mistakes, buying tool & parts online and looking for step by steps online is still miles better and cheaper than using bike shops. I've tried again and again to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I've always been disappointed. Some guys club together to buy tools, since some folk are more mechanical than others. Then you buy beer and watch your mate fix your bike. The obvious up side is that you then get to know the bike really well.
  7. Zat fork set to 100mm?
  8. Yes, the crank arms take a beating - your shoe heels will wear it off, but any scratches, wipe-outs will take the black off too and you'll see silver underneath. They obviously still work fine, but they just look beaten before their time.

  10. Pedal bob, have you looked at the SLX crank? If you want 38/24 then I'd go SLX. Apparently lighter than XT for some reason. I have one, and it's great. Black XT cranks don't wear so well either. If you're bent on XT then try get a silver.
  11. Think that was them, yes.
  12. There was a team in the Epic with OneTen29s, look on Pygas Facebook page. Then there were a few guys at Sani, one chap with a new green one that was raving about it... But then you could ride Sani on anything really. Mine doesn't have a back shock, so I guess I don't count.
  13. I realize this may be a little obscure, but it pertains to Pyga builders none the less... I've just been through 2 bottom brackets trying get rid of an awful creak, no matter what I did, couldn't get rid of it. swapped pedals, cranks, BBs, chainrings... nearly went mad. I rode the whole of Sani with the darn creak. Then this weekend I removed my Syntace rear axle and greased it up. Problem solved. The creak was from the chain pulling on the rear axle, and a lack of lube back there. But it resonated in the frame and sounded like the BB. Hope this saves someone the same tooth-gnashing.
  14. What in blazes is that? What is that fork?
  15. I see you answered this already... sorry.
  16. @ mad about, you like that Ardent tyre? What is that 2.4?
  17. I've had a set of Onza Canis on for over a year. Bought them cause Ralphs were out of stock. Must say, they've been flawless. Oh, except in mud.
  18. Hehe! Cool. You look like you may have had a sore neck the next day!
  19. Chest strap lets you see how you ride cause it films the handlebars and arms, not just the view down the trail. Handlebar mount is boring to watch.
  20. Set the camera to PAL, then choose 25fps. Choose 720 if you want to save space. Still an HD picture, but doesn't fill the cards up.
  21. Use the chest strap with the Gopro mounted upside down. The bar mounts are k@k.
  22. Does anyone know if there's a stanchion length difference between the Rebas that run 100mm and the "all travel" ones that can extend to 120mm of travel. I'm trying to work out what the physical difference is... It's either stanchion length or spring length, or both.
  23. This has to be one of the funniest threads I've read here.

Hey, how can 20 gears give you more than 30 gears? ; )

The shifter is the easy part. I hate changing front rings, its a pain in the ass. It just interupts everything.
