  1. Hmm they're the same. But I can't say I'm charmed by Nobby Nics when it gets wet. If its sandy then they're hundreds, even in the rain. But any other wet conditions, I'd rather not ride. Which is a shame.
  2. Seems like we'r both writing replies at the same time, with very diff perspectives! Are your tyres Trailstar, maybe that's the issue?
  3. Mine are 2.35 Pacestar, Snakeskin. They are nice, but I've had bad moments when riding over wet rocks. So I just don't trust them, and that affects my cornering now. As far as I can tell they slip badly when they're wet, and I'm quite a conservative rider. On one occasion I rode over a wet rock ledge, not even tilted into a corner and the bike literally disappeared from beneath me. When it's dry I'm very happy with them, but in the wet, and on that early morning damp loam they'll just pop out from under me, without warning. I've heard that Trailstar is much better, but I can't qualify that with any experience.
  4. I have 2.35 Nobby Nics on Novatec Flowtrail rims. I want to put a Mountain King 2 on the front because the Nic is a crap front tyre. What width do I get? Will 2.4 be too wide? I don't want to go tractor, but I also don't want my rear Nic to be wider than the front.
  5. Ya, you'll never get that bike super light, but if you want a one bike does all, and you want to race it, its worth a shot.
  6. Go to 1x10 with Oneup. Throw the front mech and shifter off, toss a chainring aside. I've never looked back.
  7. The divorce will come soon afterwards.
  8. There's something very wrong if CSA has the power to stop pro riders from riding any race.
  9. My other bike is a Pyga 029 with SLX crank, 32T single front and Oneupped cassette. Now I just need a longer fork! (And move my dropper across).
  10. When I measured things up a longer post/drop wouldn't have fitted. I used that noodle ya, pretty neat. Yes, I have a one up 42t on the back. It's very very nice - 1x10 with all I need. I'm not that impressed with the Revelation - wobbles around a lot. I'm thinking of selling and getting a Sweep.
  11. Dropper is great. Works so well that you kind of forget about it. Simple, quick and quiet.
  12. Beware Pacestar in the wet.
  13. So does this mean that Sani and all other "fun" races can tell CSA to get stuffed?
  14. All fitted, but I've been sick for 2 weeks. Gonna go tool around at the Enduro on sat. That seat post seems butter smooth though. I'm also running my suspension really soft now - amazing how low you can go on these bikes. Will let you know..!
  15. Ordered a Lev.
  16. Thule is more than twice the price of a Strides rack. I have QR and 15mm axle bikes, it takes them all. Kids bikes included.
  17. Ya that's what everyone says.
  18. Hmm. Wonder if I can drill a hole there. Not sure if my seatpost height can fit 150. Let me look at that though.
  19. Has anyone managed to route a Reverb Stealth internally on a 120/650?
  20. I'm thinking of getting one of these. They're pretty light and seem quite simple. Do you have one? I'm looking at the Decender, without the cable clutter & remote. Would be good to know some further thoughts...
  21. I need to update this post. I got hold of Mark at Strides, who moved heaven & earth to get me the 4 bike rack that you see above. It is an excellent and clever product that is without doubt better than any fancy Thule. Doesn't damage the frame, no rub and fits every size bike with every hub array that's out there. Even if the price wasn't as good, it's still the best you can buy.
  22. 69.5. But slacker when the back wheel is submerged.
  23. Beats the couch.
  24. Exclusive books staff are really great, the best thing about the store. The prices however, as everyone says above, are off the chart. I read a lot, and a new release at EB will cost around R270. If I buy the same book on Kindle it's about R120 (and Kindle prices are the same as Amazon's physical book prices). So IMO, Amazon is ripping us on ebook prices, which means that we're getting totally reamed by EB. Not even an argument.
