  1. I agree about motorists skipping red lights in Pta. I've recently moved to Pta (December 2013) from the Free State. My opinion is that motorists in Pta are arrogant and aggressive. When a traffic light turns red....it means two or three cars will still cross the intersection. Watch out! The Old Farm / Solomon Mahlangu (Hans Strydom) intersection is very bad indeed.
  2. I was also looking for one.... a month ago. Phoned a couple of shops. All had the same answer. Dragon Sports (Giant & Santa Cruz) don't import the alu version of the Highball. But...it can be a special order. Price would be close to R10K in the end. Ended up buying a Momsen AL829 frame from a fellow hubber! Nice frame!
  3. Agree with Jaco-fiets. No point in arguing/bitching. If you can afford it....buy the bike and spoil yourself. Same goes for cars. If you can afford a Bentley/S-Class/7-Series enjoy the ride, or else buy something you can afford.
  4. Apologies for the highjack... but can someone explain the Rock Shox RCT3 technology to me? Is it better than the RLT? Also, if I buy a 2014 Reba RLT or RL, would I be able to fit a XX remote lockout to this fork?
  5. Like I said in the beginning, I'm really interested in the Magura range for the 29er's. Listen to this video from Interbike 2013....maybe old news to some. Their eLECT technology. High tech German stuff. http://reviews.mtbr.com/magura-interbike-2013
  6. Hubbers, Why don't we see more of these Magura and Marzocchi forks on MTB in SA? Does the Fox and Rock Shox brands have superior marketing campaigns, or importers and distributors in SA? Spend so time reading on the Magura TS8 R 29er forks.... and the new Magura eLECT technology....seem to be very nice indeed. Who distributes / service these Magura forks in SA?
  7. TX for all the replies. Who is the agent for Niner in SA, and which shops actually have stock? Would like to get some prices on these frames.
  8. Spoke Works (Ruan Deyzel) - Pretoria (012) 751 3058
  9. I agree on the Cannondale frames. Top quality. Only problem.... not been sold as a stand alone frame, only complete bikes. My current take is that the companies think that cyclists would rather pay the same amount of money for a cheap carbon frame, than a high end aluminium frame. Carbon is the new trend....
  10. So where are the Metallurgists or Metallurgical Engineers hiding? Enlighten us!
  11. I'm also very interested in this....hence my other thread this morning relating to "high" end aluminium frames. I've read that there is 6000 and 7000 aluminium....but I don't have a clue to what it means.
  12. Yes... looking for a hardtail alu 29er. The PYGA OneTen29 is available.
  13. According to Giant ZA website: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-za/bike-finder/everyone/offroad/?level=all No more aluminium XTC 29ers for 2014. Only one aluminium XTC in 27.5. So...Giant is following the trend.
  14. Hubbers, I'm in the market for a new MTB frame, and would like to stick with aluminium, and not go the carbon route. After doing some reading on the Net, there's a very limited supply of "high" end aluminium MTB frames on the market. Why is that the case? Do the suppliers feel that there's no market for high end aluminium frames, and that people would rather buy a carbon frame for the same price as a aluminium frame? Also, why did PYGA stopped production of the Zero29? Same goes for Yeti with the BigTop. Surely there is "some" market for these frames? I was even inquiring the other day about a Santa Cruz Highball Aluminium....with the LBS replying....They don't import the alu version into SA. Momsen doesn't have the AL829 model for 2014? So it either a basic aluminium frame for entry level bikes....or carbon for the future?
  15. It's a pity Yeti stop production of the Big Top. That was a bike!!!!
  16. Willie is that for the 29er tires?
  17. Hubbers, I want to get myself another wheel-set for training, and save my current wheel-set for racing. Will be mostly tar and semi-off road (hard-pack), occasional dirt roads . I don't want slick tires, and must be able to run tubeless. Something with a very low profile. Any ideas? And no.... I'm not joining the DARK SIDE in getting a road bike.
  18. Hubbers... Need some technical info please. I'm interested in a PYGA OneTen frame, but on their website they stipulate the use of a 120mm travel fork on the frame. I have a Fox F29 CTD factory fork, but the travel is only 100mm. Can I use this fork on this frame? Any cons?
  19. New XTR Trail. Real "one" finger brakeing!
  20. With the assistance of the hubbers.....I've decided to get these's. In Gunsmoke..... mmmmm. Now to find a wheel-builder to lace them to my Arch-EX hoops.
  21. TX for all the replies. New bike only. Big thumbs up for the Momsen AL329 from some hubbers. What about the GT Zaskar 9R Sport? Any experiences with this bike?
  22. Hubbers, I've got a friend than was bitten by the MTB bug over the weekend. He's new to cycling and needs to buy a MTB (29er). Budget is limited to R10K. He is 1.83m. Which bike would you recommend? R10K for just the bike. Cheers.

  24. Ganrly, weight is 95kg. Hence, the reason for not a light weight hub like Tune, etc.
