  1. Small angle grinder.... otherwise soak a warm wet cloth over the sticker to get the paper to soften. Scrape what you can off with fingers then use benzine to take the sticky sh*t off.
  2. We're all in business to make a buck. The operating costs for these superstore shops must be higher than most realise. Then we go out buy goods from CRC - me included, and some of us then expect the local guys to fit them at standard pirces and then warrant the parts if they pack up. Make sure your own house is clean before you comment on someone else's!
  3. Ride fast bru!!
  4. Yes I do! Drives me nuts when the shops don't. It's a matter of pride in your work.
  5. They can't do that ....... That would mean that they would ACTUALLY have to get out of the air conditioned offices and start to work Well this way they only work 1 day a year!!!
  6. I think some of those small karoo towns make most their annual traffic fine budget on the argus weekeend just cause of number plates! They should go look for some real criminals!
  7. Not arguing that! Payout should be sooner - just clarifying the nuts and bolts of it.
  8. This is how it works You need to Insure at full replacement value because you expect new parts for your second hand parts when you fall. This is reinstatement - new for old. If your insurers took a second hand shifter from some other "scrapped bike" you'd probably freak. So bottom line you insure the new cost. The calculation for under insrance is as follows: claim x sum insured / total value of bike If you insure an R80000.00 bike for R40000.00 - you must only expect half your claim to be paid. Remember you are only paying HALF the premium you should be. The excess is there so you don't claim for every little incident which occurs and although it sucks is part of the contract. 9. I ordered 2 CDs from the UK on the same day. They arrvied four weeks apart. Go figure
  10. Can't be fun to ride with these okes. " yunno I squeezed my zits this morning and I lost 2.5 grams" " do you wax your pubes.... how much do they wiegh?"
  11. My Anthem Advanced is around 10.7kg - slimed and ready to race.
  12. Cheaper to go for liposuction and suck 10kg out. Then ride a 12kg bike which won't fall apart!
  13. Two weeks from now - news headline "Roo fed up with Australia - Immigrates to South Africa". Keen on swimming mate. We have real beer in this country!
  14. I wanted to do the same. Spoke to Leigh's in DBN - they quoted around R2800.00 for a new crown and steerer. Agents wont do the steerer on its own.
  15. Crash course in good service

    Race Face

    SERIOUSLY BLING!
  17. I have a Giant Anthem Advanced and a Giant Trance. They are both super. Trance a bit heavy but you can ride it for days. The Anthem thinks its a hardtail. Great for racing and all day rides. The alu bike is not much heavier and unless you need to ride a tupperware bike, does the job fine.
  18. Well inflation is pressing 7% now you know, so if you're really really really bad at maths, that seems about correct.
  19. STEVE BACK TO PRICING CAN YOU CLARIFY WHY WE ARE PAYING SO MUCH IN SA AND THAT IT IS OFTEN CHEAPER TO BYPASS THE LOCAL AGENCY AND BUY OVER SEAS. I AM SURE THE AVERAGE PERSON WOULD NOT HAVE AN ISSUE OVER A FEW RAND YET IS SEEMS THAT IT IS MORE OND MORE WORTHWHILE TO HAVE THE DELAYS, SHIPPING COSTS ETC ETC BECAUSE THERE IS SUCH A PRICE SAVING TO BE MADE OVERSEAS.
  20. What concerns me relates to the pricing structure of locally backed Shimano products. I wanted 105 shifters and was quoted approx R3800.00 retail, discounted to around R3100 by my LBS. Chain reaction - R1350.00 + VAT. Including an Easton Handlebar, Bar Tape, shipping VAT etc etc. The whole lot cost me R2200.00. As for warranty - i can buy a whole extra set and still have some change to spare! Chain reaction also sells the levers separate. How are the local shops meant to compete when in some cases its cheaper for them to buy from Chain reaction as well.
  21. Giant Anthem Advanced - 10.8kg ready to race. Check http://weightweenies.starbike.com to see how far you can go. 4.166kg for a roadbike 5.878kg for a hardtail 8.546kg for a dual susser Would not race down too steep a hill on any of them. I like my front teeth too much.
  22. SID all the way. I have Sid World Cup on a Giant Anthem Advanced and a Reba World Cup on a Giant Trance. I weigh 85kg and have had no hassles with the Sid at all. The Reba is beefier but at 55kg you'll be fine with the Sid. The Rock Shox can be serviced at most reasonable shops and spares are easy enough to get.
  23. Will this forum be available in paperback or hard cover.....
  24. I have ordered from them twice and both times the order arrived in about 10 days. You save a bit on the VAT. One of my orders got custom duties slapped on but it was still cheaper than buying from the local ShimaNO! agency.
