  1. For a good bottle of whiskey I'm willing to give it a try..
  2. I thought about it, and then saw there was a fairly narrow bridge as a landing area. Wasn't going to stick that landing in a million years. My love for my teeth made me walk it rather.
  3. Rode the new and improved Mamba this afternoon. Super super awesome!!!????????????. One question, there's a log across the trail about 3/4 way down. What's the plan there? Lots of potential for that spot.
  4. Don't think u can do a 650b conversion on a Scale. Not without taking a saw to the frame.
  5. Definitely worth more than that. R10 000 seems about the going rate for a carbon 26er with good components. But that does depend on the condition of the bike.
  6. From where I'm standing (OK I'm sitting) this hijack has been awesome...
  7. Didn't think of that. I will get in touch with them. Thanks Grebel. You might just have made my week.
  8. No worries, the sunglass thread was dying a natural death anyway, hijack away....
  9. Thanks for the assistance and feedback guys. I've sort of accepted that I'm going to have to get a new pair of sunglasses To build on the hijack, one of the guys here at work has an older model Toyota Land Cruiser, 4.5 petrol. He claims to get 350km from a 75 litre tank on the rough stuff. His secondary fuel tank (another 75 litres) is a non-negotiable. Loves it to bits though.
  10. Loving the repaired sections below Vasbyt!!! The rock fill base with clay / sand fill is a great solution, which we use often in flood damage work. Avoids the deep erosion ruts which were forming on some of the trails. Two thumbs up to you guys!!!
  11. Rode about 14:00.
  12. Bit of a fishing expedition I'm afraid. Just really annoyed at myself for losing them . Thanks for the good luck wishes Vetseun, gonna need it to find them.
  13. I managed to lose my sunglasses at Tokai on Sunday afternoon. If anybody picked up a pair of sunglasses, probably on the section of trail between the top of Vasbyt and the quarry, I'd really appreciate it if you could get in touch. Thanks
  14. Hardening also has the side effect of making the metal brittle. U might start getting teeth breaking off instead of wearing down.
  15. Scale will be a bit lighter as well.
  16. Was wondering about this on my ride on Sunday, cos there's loads of "No Cycling on this road" signs, but no "No Horses on this track" signs. Seen horses on the ST below Vasbyt a couple of times. Will take a pic next time.
  17. I think the lower specced Scotts come out with the rebranded Alexrims. I've heard and seen some horror stories of those. Even the more expensive Scotts are notorious for coming out with poor quality wheel. The general view (from what I've seen and done) is that the wheels are the first upgrade if you buy a Scott. Just to put this in context, I ride a Scott, so not trying to knock the brand. Their bikes are great, but their standard wheels are not.
  18. If you look like you have a few bob he'll try to sell his mother to you. But I witnessed the way he treats his workers and guys wanting to pawn bikes, and its shocking. I was seriously considering buying a bike there once, and then I saw him talk to one of his workers, and walked straight out.
  19. I don't think the guy's gonna have luck going the legal route. If he wanted to "legally" pawn it or make a loan, he could have done it right next door at Cash Converters. They're literally next door to NW, and I think they do these sort of arrangements.
  20. I feel all dirty just talking to Neil. Definitely wouldn't do business with him.
  21. My bad. Here I thought everybody was serious all the time on the Hub .
  22. Bike weighs 7.8kg if you believe his website: http://www.nsracing.ch/en/Bikes That's insane!!!!!
  23. Got a pair of pink Oakley half jackets for R300 at their clearance sale last year. Best buy ever, except for the colour. But I don't mind, cos the optics are superb and I can get replacement lenses.
  24. I'd look at the Booth Bikes as well. Imported frames, but with local support and I think they come with 5 year replacement warranty on the frame. You can also select the components according to your currrent budget. The owner is also a hubber, so you can get personal service. I think he goes by carbon 29er or something similar. (https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum/user/35786-carbon29er/) My 2 cents.
