  1. Tried this for the first time last week, and it's super awesome. Great to see it turning up in the "regular" bottle stores as well (I found a bottle at P n P). So many of the nice artisan beers are only available at selected pubs or at merkets.
  2. Awesome!!!! Truly inspirational. Stuff like this makes me want to go and drop the R100k for the new Spez bikes. Great to see true giants of mountain biking putting back into the sport in this way. Big up Sauser and Spez!!!!!
  3. The Knysna mtb race would have counted quite a bit towards your seeding, as the 50km distance was a qualifier for Argus. Probably means the 80km has a fairly high weighting in the ratings system.
  4. Terrible planning. Took me 45 mins to get out of the parking area, after I realised that I should park outside.
  5. Please let them know that I really appreciated the help on Saturday. Without their help I would have had to walk home 10km. As it is I finished my ride and was back for more today.
  6. Just wanted to rave about some excellent service I got at Trail and Tar in Tokai yesterday. Cycled from home up to Tokai, started gently up Fairy Garden and then heard a loud creak from my crank as I put the power down to climb. I didn't think anything of it, until both my chainrings fell off 20m later. Turns out I'd los all four of my chainring bolts. Looks like I'd lost two previously, as I could only find two male bolts lying on the trail. Pushed / freewheeled my bike down the hill to Trail and Tar, and they made a plan for me with some secondhand bolts they had lying in their toolbox. Bent over backwards to help me, and to top it all of, didn't charge me a cent. Big up guys!!! I will go out of my way to support u guys!! Another feather in the little LBS cap vs online vs megastores (CWC, Cyclelab, etc) Keep it up guys, excellent service will always be rewarded with customer loyalty!
  7. I see www.rapide.co.za are stocking 17 tooth cogs now. Thinking of getting one. I'm sure they'll make a plan to get a 19 tooth one if you ask nicely.
  8. Big up to Deon for the hard work in openign and maintaining the routes in Tokai. Sometimes it looks like the admin / politics is way harder than the physical work of building trails .
  9. Not sure if gabions are long term solution, but will definitely help in the short term. Will solve local problems, but the global slope stability problem remains. It's a similar problem which they have on Chappies. As you say, that trail is so good you do want to bend over backwards to make it work.
  10. That whole slope at the Bridal Path looks unstable, considering how wide spread the slips were. From the top of Mamba you could see that one the slip took out almost the whole slope. Not sure how far your budget is going to go to stabilise that slope. Might be better ways to spend cash, as I suspect that is going to be a recurring problem.
  11. There was a gully that developed at a small river crossing on Boomslang, other than that the trails have held up very well. Rode them yesterday in the rain and again today, and they looking good. Anybody been up to the Bridle Path? Looks like there was another slope slip there. U can see it if you stand at the top of Mamba. Was it reopened after the last slip up there?
  12. Did the right hand side of the Jonkers valley for the first time on Sunday, and was super impressed with the single track. Really enjoyed the flow and was almost tempted into a few jumps. My roots In Tokai also gets a mention, as it's brilliant, just too short for my liking.
  13. I might see you guys up there on my SS this afternoon. Probably be up there about 14:00 or so. Will look out for you at Boomslang.
  14. I had a similar incident a few weeks back at Tokai. I didn't manage to find my glasses, but succesfully claimed from my insurance (after a tip from a fellow hubber ). If you can't find the glasses I'd give this a go to get replacements.
  15. The Craft baggy shorts are a super deal. Definitely worth a scratch around if you're in the neighbourhood. I got a spez handlebar there for R95. I bought it even though I wasn't looking for a new bar Be prepared to spend some time scratching around a bit though, as it is a bit of a jumble sale.
  16. For riding in Wellington I'd agree with your idea of starting with a 30T. Those are some serious climbs around there!!!
  17. Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!!!
  18. Someone commented on another thread that the 42 tooth cog on the XX1 cassette wear quicker than the rest of the cassette, as it's made from a different material to save weight. Would make me think twice about going the XX1 / XO1 route. I'd rather get a 30T chainring and lose at the heavier end of your gearing.
  19. Was so excited by the improvements I rode it twice today!!! Like a good wine it seems to improve with every sip  . That rock berm is genius btw!!!! Looks like it was lots of hard work, but absolutely brilliant!!!
  20. I'd like to know how it's standing up without a visible stand . PS BEAUTIFUL BIKE!!!
  21. Cool. The start was a bit rough, I must say. Can't wait to ride it again next week.
  22. Just wanted to give KUDOS to Pain or Shine and all guys involved in trail builds at Tokai!!! I rode the new, improved Cobra for the first time this morning, and it was brilliant!!!! Last time I rode it was probably last year, and it was not a good experience as some parts were almost unrideable and overgrown. Hence I didn't go back till today. Today a buddy took me up there, and it totally blew my mind what you guys have done up there!! Still tough riding, but just easy enough to challenge me to try and ride all of it next time. Keep up the good work guys!!!
  23. I think I'm in desperate need of a mid-life crisis!!!
  24. You shouldn't have a problem getting the Note thro insurance. My S2 was damaged and I claimed from insurance, they gave me a few options which I could get for free. But if I wanted a phone of higher value I just had to pay the difference. Probably depends on the insurance company though.
  25. Agreed!!!!!
