  1. I "upgraded" to the iPhone 5 after my biking in the rain relieved me of my S2. Only to realise that it wasn't really an upgrade in terms of software. Hardware is much better but I'm still not fully sold on iOS. Even though iOS 7 is a huge improvement. The stylus is a bit of a game breaker for me on the Note, as my chubby fingers keeping hitting the wrong keys on the virtual keyboard .
  2. Thinking of doing the same. The Note just makes so much more sense than the S4 or iPhone 5.
  3. Just to make things clear, I did tell the guy who assisted me via e-mail that I was not happy with so many things being advertised and then not available. So I did not just take it to the web without first letting them know that I wasn't happy. Also, I will complain in the same way with any LBS. Bad service is bad service, period. And without the consumers feedback (via complaints in this case) these businesses would never improve, as they would assume that the status quo is acceptable. I will collect tomorrow and then discuss it with them a little further. Just to state further that I will shop at CWC again, as I believe they are a good, well run, local business which deserves our support.
  4. No issues with the way it was dealt with. The offer of a refund or replacement was fair, and to be honest most places would only offer a replacement without the refund option. The issue is with the website showing so many items as available when they're actually not. Surely a system can be implemented to track inventory a bit better, thereby keeping the availability on the website in line with the stock on the shelf. But I suppose it' s easier said than done.
  5. Sorry to hear dude. I live quite close to Neil's Wheels. I'll go have a look there over the weekend. Also the Cash Crusaders there in Plumstead, right next to Neils.
  6. Got a pair of Rudy Project Noyz, pair of Rudy Project Ability (for the missus) and a Loaded X-Lite handlebar. All right here on the hub  .
  7. Need to vent. Saw CWC had a sale on XON products over the weekend, so I thought I'd have a look. Ordered a few bits and bobs, some on sale some not. Not a huge order by any means. Get an e-mail on Monday saying that they don't have stock of two of the products which I ordered, even the items they had on sale!!! So they offer me a refund or replace the missing items with something else. So I order something else, which shows available on the website. Turns out that wasn't in stock either. Eventually just asked for a refund. Bit disappointed, as all my prior experiences with them have been positive. Chris if you're out there, if you offer something for sale on the website, and show it as being available, please make sure its available. Otherwise what's the point of the "out of stock" next to some items. Rant off, feeling much better now
  8. Never thought of that. Great advice.
  9. Managed to successfully claim from the insurance. Getting my new glasses tomorrow????????????????. Scored a pair of Rudy Projects here on the hub, and also afford a pair for my wife????????.
  10. Could be. I was there a bit earlier. Interestingly, there was a cop car parked at the entrance to the picnic area lower down. Not sure if there was trouble there earlier.
  11. I saw glass on the ground when I parked. Decided to take all valuables with me on the ride. Today was a perfect day for crooks as the parking area was quite quiet. Terrible luck. There was a security guard on duty, but I think he was patrolling the whole complex of offices.
  12. In the R500 to R750 range there are quite a few decent shoes. My Olympics cost R550, lasted me four years and still usable as a spare. First Ascent, Shimano also have a few models in this range. I'd save up a bit and buy in this range rather than go for the cheapest. Unless things are really tight I tend to avoid the cheapest of the cheap, because they'e often that cheap for a reason.
  13. I am colourblind, but even I know the top light means stop . Please don't paint all of us with the same brush. It's bad enough we have to deal with our "disability". Just the other day I got k@kked out by my 5 year old cos I got the colours wrong.
  14. Depends on what terrain you're riding as well. If you're riding gravel roads with longish flat sections, the 29er might give you a bit of an edge. If you're doing technical, singletrack riding the 26er might give you the edge. Re the 27.5, I think its a bit of a compromise being marketed as the next big thing. And you know what they say about compromises, It's a solution where all parties are equally unhappy. Think about it, if they can stop manufacturing 26ers and 29ers and instead make only one frame, lots of the manufacturing / research costs are halved. One frame, one manufacturing line, one geometry. As to the OP, I'd stick with 26er until you're 18 at least, cos by then you know more or less how tall you're going to be. And all the money saved in those 3 years can be put into a top of the range 26 / 27.5 / 29, whatever suits your height / build at that stage.
  15. Think I saw you come past me on that mean looking Niner with the rigid fork. Bike looks awesome!!!!
  16. Loads of Single Speeders out today. By far the most I've seen at any race.
  17. Truly beautiful race. Really makes me appreciate how lucky we are in the Western Cape. 45 minutes from my front door, and we'e riding in that splendour. Absolutely awesome!!!! Great race, except that I found out the hard way the XX1 might work for me. Got stuck on the big chainring in front cos of mud, so had to get out of my seat and really work on some uphills. My big chainring is 44T, so I was turning over some serious gears from about 35km to 45km. Sorted itself out after that. After that it was just "Hou bene Hou!!!!
  18. I think I'll give the 34km a go on the SS next year.
  19. Respect guys. Still can't pluck up the courage to do a race on my SS. One day when my ballas are a bit bigger.
  20. 1700m or thereabout I think. I'm doing the 57km for the first time, did the 38 km last year. A bit nervous to be quite honest.
  21. Lance at Epic Bike shop in Plumstead is a whiz with straightening of wheels and general wheel issues. Really does a superb job in super quick time. Had my wheels with him twice, once to dish the rear wheel and once to fix a broken spoke. Both times the work was complete by the next day.
  22. OK. Definitely working then, cos its withstood the recent rain remarkably well. I actually get it now, by keeping the trail fairly flat the rivers flow across rather than along the trails. These trailbuilders are SUPERSMART!!!!
  23. I noticed that the jumps require a fair bit of pedal power, as not all of them are on steep downhill sections. Not that I considered taking the jumps. One day when my skills are have improved and I have my big biy pants on I'll give those a try. Generally it does seem a bit more "pedally" than before, if that makes sense. Before I get flamed, this is not a negative, just different to the previous incarnation of Mamba.
  24. Rode Mamba again this past weekend (3 times). Gets better with every ride!!!! Awesome stuff guys!! Pity the "whiskey challenge" jump is gone , was going to give it a go.
  25. My Rocket Rons converted to tubeless easily. Was very disappointed, as I'd bought a case of beers to help me along, and the bloody tire was on before I cracked the second beer. Easily seated without sealent using a foot pump, then filled it with Stans and sealed easily. No problems since (two months now). The side walls do seem very thin though, but no probs so far (touch wood).
