  1. I can vouch for these, arrived at Van Gaalens and forgot my shoes so went all the way to the Greek church in these (yes I could have lost a toe). But in terms of grip and ventilation they are insane!!
  2. Thanks for the detail on the minions, I do lean towards the fatter tyre as oppsoed to the thinner one like the minion but will give it a look see.. Much appreciated. Going to look into those three tyres this week a bit more. I guess my personal preference is hard compound, slightly on the fatter side and sticks like glue... Without breaking the bank
  3. I would admit that my line choice isn't always the smoothest and I do tend to be a bit hard on them... Will look into the minions a bit further. Yeah a lot of personal preference so I think I am slanting towards a stronger compound at the moment.... When I go down to Kzn I may switch out to a softer tyre I hear things about these Onza Ibex's. My friend also suggested them so will pop around evo bikes maybe this week and give them a look see.
  4. This thread is massive and maybe this question has been answered but can anyone give me the shortened version.... My story... 2.4 Conti mountain king on the front. 2 Rides at Hakahana (Sp2) and it's finished 2.4 Conti Xking protection on the rear. 3 Rides at Hakahana and missing a lot of my knobbies2.4 Bronson on the front - one ride at Thaba and sidewall sliced Bear in my mind this is 26" so my options may by limited. I am looking for something as hardcore as they come in the front and maybe a little less hardcore on the back... Please help! I can't continue buying tyres every two weeks...
  5. @mattquarta Currently my screen is cracked so haven't been able to upload in a while...
  6. Pads.... I am sure this has been discussed but this thread is huge... So just looking for a simple answer Getting into Enduro and looking at the 661 Rage elbow and knee pads? Will these give me enough freedom to tackle the climbs without being too uncomfortable?
  7. Was there on Saturday morning and....... I think I had the best experience shopping I have had... Doing two bike builds at the moment and was looking for very specific small parts (nuts and bolts and odds and ends). Edu (I think that's how you spell it) ran that shop dry for me. He searched high and low and was so helpful and friendly about it. Giving away things for no charge at all. It was amazing. I did purchase some high end parts also and have more to go so I always do my shopping there. This was my girlfriends first experience in a bike shop and she couldn't believe how nice they were, that never happens anyone! So big up to them! After that I popped down to Mikes bikes for a part Linden never had and the same level of service, so friendly and so helpful. The best two shops for cycling!
  8. Swamped at the moment for work but this does look like an amazing idea. Will keep an eye out on this thread and if JHB has quite some traction and it will be used by quite a few then I could do a build for a site
  9. Thanks guys, my mind is now at ease with this thought and I know for the future... As for tubeless, I jump too much so it's not the most advisable option
  10. Yeah.... MAD!!!
  11. Yesterday I had a puncture before I even got to riding on the bottom of Conrad. Was asking around for tubes to no avail and I spoke to a guy that said he had put a 29" tube in a 26" tyre? Now this boggles my mind, can this be possible?? And how effective can it be?
  12. Closest to Katherine and Grayston Thanks for the quick responses! Think Morninside cycles will do!
  13. Don't have much time and need something close to work... Google'd the hell out of it and can't find anything? Anyone? Can't believe this is true if it is!
  14. If you have a MTB wheel that is completely true are not riding it correctly
  15. Now that I look at I don't think these are the people in question (as they are a minority in the winding section he is probably referring to - NOTE: Not the whole Spruit) The main damage probably comes from MTB's that are too lazy to corner, as they are the heaviest and fastest so will do the most damage
  16. Now we refer to the reasonable person (Walkers, joggers, riders, runners, kids, etc). A reasonable person can SEE the path. A reasonable person KNOWS it's a path. A reasonable person ASSUMES we follow the path. So I think Peach has a valid argument. People (No matter what you are doing) are just lazy and inconsiderate that take the straight line
  17. Never knew the line in question was in Emma... (Same applies to Delta). But somewhere else may be a viable option
  18. My advice, built a ridiculous gap jump on the straight line. Rider has two options: 1. Don't corner and have the ride of your life 2. Learn to corner on the spot And a plus to all of us is we all get a gap jump I think I may look into this
  19. No matter what you guys say, this part is questionable. You guys will all use your foul words but this employee wants to bring your boss into it?!
  20. You accept bad service, that is your choice. We don't, that is our choice
  21. They are in no legal way bound to sell you the product at the incorrect price advertised (The digital laws are weird) But as I work in advertising we always advise our clients that if this happens it is normally best to honour the price or to compromise as the error was not yours, but theirs for not managing their website correctly. And as we are seeing now their reputation may be at risk (What is about to happen here) So the uneducated person on the other side of this email really has just rubbed salt on a wound and has made a bad situation 10 times worse... I would not accept an email like that lightly and if I were you I would take action against someone higher than him in his company. As I am sure his boss would question his actions
  22. One post wonder ranting.... check
  23. This is the best answer we have yet!
  24. Copious amounts!
