  1. Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. I assume you mean this Diverge? https://www.specialized.com/za/en/diverge-expert-carbon/p/175284?color=290942-175284 Compared directly to the G 1800 wheels these wheels are very similar, with the most note worthy differences being the use of much higher quality spokes on the G 1800 as well as it's use of a welded rim as opposed to sleeve joined rim. Both use a pawl hub design. As far as strength is concerned there is nothing to fear with a 24H rim. It is actually a common misconception in the cycling industry that fewer spokes means a weaker wheelset. What it actually just means is a less stiff wheelset - usually a good thing for gravel as it's more comfortable. Correct rim choice and spoke tension are what determine a strong wheelset, and the perpetuation of the myth that fewer spokes means a weaker wheelset is likely due to wheel builders in the past not tensioning the spokes correctly, resulting in a much more flexy wheel which will eventually collapse under the lack of support (or nipples pull through the holes) The G 1800 wheelset, our GR 531 rims and the G 540 rims on your current wheels all have a max system weight limit of 130kg so you should be fine here unless you run a lot of panniers. Note, however that all three of these products have an ASTM classification 2 which means using them for anything other than gravel riding may cause failure. We will be building up more sets of our in house gravel wheels very soon and will list these on our B2C in the next few days here is the B2B link so long for further reading: https://getstoked.store/product/dt-swiss-gravel-wheels/ Hope this helps! Don't hesitate to get in touch should you have further questions
  2. Hi Nico, Perfect, we can order these for you then with a turn around of about 3 weeks. You would be looking at an MSRP of R850 incl. but this will vary from store to store - let me know if you have a preferred LBS which I can reach out to in this regard
  3. Hi Nico, Are you able to confirm whether your hub is 6bolt or centrelock? I had a look at DT Swiss' service centre stock and we would be able to special order in the CL version for you, but the end caps for 6bolt are sadly out of stock for now
  4. Good Day, I represent the local DT Swiss distributors. Sadly we do not have this part in stock, however it is something we can special order at not too long a turn around - certainly nothing like the covid era lead times we are used to nowadays at least. If you don't come right with a second hand one, feel free to reach out to me directly and perhaps we can assist you. Cheers
  5. https://isikosports.co.za/ODI-Rogue-Lock-On-Grips-p95214748 These are one of my favorite grips if you want: 1. Thick 2. Comfort 3. Dual lock on 4. Long lasting https://getstokedonline.co.za/product/dmr-brendog-deathgrip-thick-non-flange/ These are my other favorites if you want: 1. Hanging your palms off the edge of the grip (only one collar/screw inboard) 2. Comfort - especially the thumbs when using shifter or dropper leaver 3. You want to ride gloveless 4. You like the "waffle" moto style, allowing for looser grip on the bar Hope this helps
  6. My personal opinion / experience can be summed up in one sentence: SRAM feels better, Shimano works better. I Personally prefer SRAM as I love the bullet quick, snappy feeling of the shifts. However... This feeling is subjective and the reality I must concede is that Shimano definitely shifts better and can take more load while shifting too.
  7. No problem, let me know if you would like me to reach out to them for you
  8. Hi there, As TheoG states, some DT hubs (142mm Straightpull) were not compatible with the microspline freehub. This is less to do with DT's incompetence, but rather simply to do with the new standard (designed by Shimano) being of a shape that just happened to not fit DT's hub shell used on straightpull 142mm hubs. If you have a 240/240s Hybrid hub however, you are not at any risk of incompatibility and we can gladly assist you with SRAM XD, Shimano HG or Shimano 12spd Microspline freehubs either through our B2C portal here: https://getstokedonline.co.za/product/dt-swiss-shimano-12spd-freehub-for-star-ratchet-hubs-hybrid-steel/ or through your local bike shop by my contacting them to arrange delivery. PLEASE NOTE: as the product page suggests, you will need the drive side end cap in order to convert to Shimano 12speed, and you will need to manually add this to your cart as clearly instructed on the product page! Please reach out to me should you have any further questions!
  9. Armouride offers complete frame protection they will fit for you, and have a good reputation: https://armour-ride.com/ Bikeshield is a bit more basic with precut kits yourself or your LBS can fit, as well as 1m rolls you can custom cut, and seems to last longer: https://getstokedonline.co.za/product-category/protection/bike-protection/?filter_brands=bikeshield
  10. I actually came here to say the opposite... Wheels usually crack like that when they are undertensioned as spokes flex continuously during a ride, both vertically and horizontally. Everytime the spokes flex they tug on the nipples which are obviously tensioned against the rim bed. As you can imagine, if there is not enough tension on the spokes they will flex too much which means they will pull on the nipples with greater force therefore eventually pulling them through the spoke holes which starts with the cracks seen on the original posters images. This is most likely just an anomaly which I'm sure Specialized will sort out in no time at all.
  11. No problem, hope you come right!
  12. Hi Diesel, Unfortunately we don't have these lengths in stock right now so we would have to special order for you. Depending on how quickly we can fill an order (just couriering the spokes would result in exorbitant shipping costs) we can usually get special orders in relatively quickly (2 weeks) let me get back to you on Monday once we have looked at the best solution here
  13. Hi there, Are you sure it's a 340? The M1700 spline 2 traditionally has a 350 hub, but regardless they are both using the same internals so the links I provided are all applicable.
  14. Hi there, Thanks for reaching out. All our product pages have a hyperlink out to the correlating DT Swiss service page where you can find all the applicable spares required. Example: https://getstokedonline.co.za/product/dt-swiss-350-6-bolt-boost-disc-rear-hubs-148mm-xd/ In the link you will see the following products and tools are required for a basic service: - Special Grease - Lockring removal tool - Locking (if required) - 6902 bearing tool - 6902 bearings (if required) - Spacer (if required) There are additional tools and spares required for a complete overhaul, however some of these are not yet listed on our consumer direct portal due to their low value and therefore would require my sending these parts to your preferred local dealer. Here is a link on how to service the hubs: Hope this helps - please feel free to get in touch should you have any further questions.
  15. Hello Hubbers! Been a while... Just thought I would remind everyone of the existence of this forum/thread should there be any questions, technical or general, pertaining to DT Swiss that we can perhaps assist with. Stay well!
  16. The best I can offer right now is to suggest inputting your email address in our automatic in stock notification system, that way you will be notified once our next shipment lands. Alternatively I can back order for you and inform you ahead of time of any and all changes to the delivery date. Sadly it will be some time before we receive stock again however
  17. Rotors are thankfully still in stock and can be found here: https://getstokedonline.co.za/product/formula-1-piece-rotor/ Or through any dealer of your choice - happy to get in touch with them on your behalf
  18. Thanks Chad for notifying me. Sadly the Cura's have been out of stock for some time with an ETA on our next shipment some time away still. Several months I'm afraid. Sorry we couldn't be of any help!
  19. What you just described is a largely what my original post outlined as being convenience v. friction when transacting.
  20. 100% A large part of why a distributor is against supplying any self proclaimed "bike mechanic" You are absolutely right then that this distributor should offer training on their product to empower stores/dealers. If the dealer wins you win.
  21. Hit the nail on the head
  22. Again, I am expressly saying it is NOT the only thing that counts. Refer to my previous post about bell curves. Two people disagreeing with me does not represent the entire market.
  23. Read my previous post with regards to the phenomena you are experiencing. I'm not saying you have to have a social media presence to survive. In fact I specifically mentioned how there are some stores who managed without it. Social and marketing at large forms just one pillar of modern business building that, if mastered, can help you thrive. The most successful stores in our market are those who have mastered all of the important aspects in business
  24. I respectfully disagree. I was very tempted to go into retail despite all the cons. It's obviously going to be easier when you start with a huge amount of money before hand, but unless you made a fortune elsewhere or inherited money this will likely come from the form of a partner(s), a loan, or investors. Owning a bike shop can be highly rewarding and highly profitable IF and only if you bother to learn the basics (and hopefully master several) of the essential aspects to owning a business. As a Hubber mentioned in a previous post this is things like (but not limited to) Accounting Marketing Technology Service Procurement Some stores have become successful despite having little to no understanding of some of these important aspects of business, usually as they were founded before the necessity for such skills arose (how many bike shops do you know with no webpage... in a day and age where a business is expected to have a social media presence across multiple platforms as a minimum) Personally I feel these stores will struggle to stay relevant in an increasingly demanding market unless they learn to adapt soon... The stores who have mastered all of these aspects as well as adhering to some of the aspects raised in my previous post are the ones who will not only survive, but are currently thriving in our market. It can definitely be done
