    Thanks Quagga, Valid points we are aware of, however you must understand though, there are a number of reasons we advocate the local bike shop first. While it's a shame you have had no luck with certain LBS's - there are still plenty in our market that offer superb service and value - these are the stores we aim to support by directing customers to them. In any market it's inevitably always going to be the case that there are those end consumers with the experience, technical ability and dexterity to work on their own bikes, and who chose to opt for this approach due to bad experiences or poor value. As a service provider, bike shops are also held accountable for their work, which as an end consumer, you can and absolutely should demand a high level from. If this is not the case, as free market you have the ability to vote with your wallet and only support those which provide the value and service you expect. Cheers

    Hi there and thanks for the opinion, I suggest taking the time to go through the spares we do bring into SA and chatting to us directly about a solution if you have not found what you are looking for. As someone with many years experience in the bike industry I can say without hesitation that you will struggle to find a distributor more willing to make a plan for it's community than us.     Hi Antonie, We do have these exact spokes in stock, but as mentioned in a prior response, when it comes to spares/tools we don't supply these direct to customers as it is preferred that you have a professional workshop with the correct tools, experience and training do the work here. It's amazing that so many stores can't help you though as we have had these spokes in stock since literally our first shipment with the brand! The Aerolites are arguably the most premium quality spokes in the market today - I've seen the process and machinery required for them to be manufactured first hand and there is an enormous amount of engineering and expense that goes into producing the best. If the price is an issue, we can look at bringing in the more affordable models of bladed/aero spokes as part of a special order for you? Let me know who your preferred local dealer is and I will get in touch with them on the steps required for this. Hope this helps

    Good day, Unfortunately all standard (142mm) straightpull hubs are NOT compatible with the new microspline freehub standard - including DT's own hubs Our only solution for you would be to offer a jbend hub with which to rebuild the wheel. Let me know your preferred local bike shop and I will gladly offer them a better price on a new hub to help out in this regard

    Hi there, While I agree this tool isn't the cheapest, it is made from high tensile steel, and like any tool designed to last the lifetime of a bike shop - this comes at a bit of premium. Furthermore we don't encourage end users working on their own bikes, but rather to have it serviced by their local bike shop who are [hopefully] well trained, highly experienced and carrying all the necessary tools required. For this reason we don't supply any DT Swiss tools direct to the public, which means you would likely have been charged the standard markup on this tool by whichever dealer you were quoted by making it that much more pricey. That being said, if you are able to ping me your preferred local bike shop I can see what we can do to help out.

    No problem, One of those spec choices made to try bring a bike within a certain price point - Specialized do the same with Joytech hubs on some of their MTB's

    Great to hear! Unfortunately while your rims and likely spokes and nipples are all DT products, the Axis hubs found on your wheels are their own brand independent of DT Swiss and we sadly do not offer any support for these hubs. Your best bet would be to chat to your local Specialized dealer as I don't think there is an Axis agent in SA, however brands like Specialized, Giant and Scott will usually carry spares to support their clients in situations exactly like this. If they can't help either - we would happily assist in any way we can with replacement hubs. Worst case, you can also try an engineering company to machine the end caps for you, however QR in particular is a tricky one to get right!

    If you're riding enduro, or you are hard on wheels (or both) I agree - it's better safe than sorry, and these guys are bomb proof! For trail duties we will be launching the XM 481 (30mm trail rim) very soon in SA

    Hi there, Thanks for your query! While it is technically possible to change a 360 hub to a ratchet system (for which you can then upgrade to 54T) this is NOT advised, and will void any warranty your hub/wheels still have. Think of it like putting a Ferrari motor into a Fiat, just because they are the same brand/company does not mean they are compatible or that either were designed for this. 360 hubs use the 3pawl forward drive system, and to upgrade your hub to a faster engagement would require replacing the entire hub to a Star Ratchet model (350, 240s) or a newer Ratchet EXP model (240, 180) Hope this helps, sorry it's not the answer you were probably hoping for

    Kicking things off, we would like to offer a very brief overview of the many riders out there who may be requiring assistance when it comes to DT Swiss parts or services. As many of you may already know, DT Swiss is one of the most widely represented brands in the world due largely to it's use by many well known bike brand's as the source of things like hub internals, spokes, nipples or complete hubs and wheel sets. Some examples of brands which have used DT Swiss parts on their own brand of wheels, either in the past or still to the present day: (as of September 2020) - Specialized's Roval wheels - Giant's own brand wheels - Scott's Syncros wheels - Trek's Bontrager wheels If you include brands which have at some point used, or continue to use non OEM DT parts (meaning a DT part you could purchase off the shelf) the list grows even bigger: - Cannondale - Santa Cruz - Yeti - KTM - BMC - Norco - Storck - Commencal - YT - Ibis - Rocky Mountain - Pivot - Niner - Ellsworth - Ridley et al If you are riding any model of bike, although usually from "mid tier" and up (R40k+ price range) from one of these brands, you are very likely rolling on some DT Swiss products. It stands to reason we have done our best in researching our market well and do our best as a distributor to import as many of the applicable spares required for all of the aforementioned brands within reason.

    Morning Warren, Sadly the team have come up empty handed after a detailed look at our inventory this morning. As Nick mentioned these brakes came out in 2011 and a cursory look on all the major e-commerce sites also yielded no results when I looked this weekend. Normally in this situation we would offer you a better price on a new set of replacement brakes as a curtesy for your years of supporting the brand, however while life might seem like it's back to normal in our daily lives, COVID is still causing major issues in supply chains. Our next shipment with both Cura and Cura 4 brakes (the latter being my recommendation) are due to land end of Otober. If you would like, I can make a note to get back to you once they have landed?     Pity stock is low right now! In the mean time try these two things. - Ride downhills with your feet duck footed as I suggested, as far as they can go before touching your chainstays and crank arm (this is why Enduro and DH riders often have worn chainstays and crank arms and I suggest wrapping both in protective coat of some kind) - The result? You'll be able to bend your knees much more easily which helps with cornering properly - Make sure the axle of the pedal is BEHIND the ball of your foot. A lot of people are not aware of this either and it likely comes from clipless shoes forcing a more forward position for many years. - The result? You will feel much more "inside" the bike (stable) and will be able to drop your heels more effectively.

    Good advice! Equally important: check if there is any thread exposed from the visible part of the nipple - this means the spokes are too short and will result in alu nipples being more likely to sheer in half. Correct tension is the next obvious thing if spoke length and corrosion have been ruled out as tension being too low is one of the most common problems seen with wheel building. Low tension means spokes flex more, which means they fatigue the nipples and rim. Nothing wrong with alu nipples as long as correct tension and technique is achieved, but be aware like another user pointed out - they will corrode eventually (usually in a couple years time).

    If I can make a suggestion... I can see by the marks created by your pedal pins that your default foot position is more toe in. My suggestion is to ride XC/uphill etc with your feet straight (more or less how they would be if clipped in. Then when descending, switch to a more "duck foot" position with toes pointed outward. Especially the latter, I have seen make instant and dramatic improvement to flat pedal rider's confidence and prevention of knee injury. This is because duck footed you can bend your knees outward into a squat position more easily and therefore ride loose, corner better and with less strain on your ACL. Try this for now and see how it affects the "falling off" sensation as well as overall comfort. The VitalMTB pedal shoot out I sent you a link for the best test I've seen in measuring pedal size and what true concave affects pedal feel.

    My partners were actually the importers of 5.10 for the past 7 odd years and were forced to drop the brand after Adidas pulled the plug in a global scaling down seen with many other big corporates such as Nike, Puma et al No amount of money will see 5.10 back in South Africa I'm sad to say - we approached Adidas in every conceivable way in order to retain distribution, but were turned down 2 years prior to our contract even coming to an end! Needless to say RideConcepts have proven every bit a worthy replacement with fantastic shoe quality and great support globally - awesome bunch

    How do you find the grip compared to FiveTen? I've been running Impact Low's for as long as I can remember and was looking at the Powerline as my replacement! Currently run the RC Helion and love them, just want something more substantial for the Enduro/Gravity riding days
