  1. The battery was dead and Cyclelab didn't have any spare batteries. Got one from Builders Warehouse across the way in Northgtae for R9,99! Went for a ride today - everythings fine.
  2. Thanks guys. I've just tested the unit/strap - not getting a reading at all!. Anyway, I'll take it in tomorrow to Cyclelab, as I bought it September last year and it should still be under warranty. Don't know about warranty on batteries though - I'll find out tomorrow. Thanks for your responses.

    DA 7900

Hi, Does anybody have a solution to the noise (chatter) that DA7900 STI's make on rough tarmac? I had 105 STI's before and they very quiet on rough tarmac. I know the 7900 STI levers are carbon, but surely the noise could be eliminated. Please let me know if you've solved this chatter problem. Regards Fakes
  4. Hi, Hopefully somebody can help with this problem. My Polar CS200 gave a very low HR reading on my last ride - max of 28%! Anyway, I took off the HR strap and it was still reading 28%!! Q's: Could the unit be faulty? or the battery in the HR strap dead? Any advice would be appreciated. Regards Fakes
  5. Forgot about pedals! Trust me on this one you want to get a really good set of pedals. Go for a lightweight set such DA7810's. Well worth the money. They are so light your pedalling is so much easier. I talk from experience had 105 pedals on which weighed like half a ton - moved to 7810's - WOW big difference in pedalling. Check out CWC website for great deals on stems, h/bars, pedals etc -much cheaper than other shops. NEW = warranty. Used = no warranty in most cases. Good deals for complete bikes on the hub though. In most cases you'll have to change the saddle, stem and h/bar to suit your own biomechanics though. Keep that in mind when negotiating a price on complete bikes. To avoid that - go for a frame, fork and seatpost only deal.
  6. Probably the most important thing is the frame- spend about 3/4 of your budget on it - say 14k. Buy a second hand 105 groupset for R2500. Buy a new stem(R250), handlebar(R250), seat(R500), and wheels (R1500 for Mavic entry levels). If you want to upgrade the groupset later, no problem, there'll be buyers for the 105 groupset out there willing to pay R2500 for it. Lastly, make sure the bike looks nice. Coordinate the colour scheme of the seat, h/tape and frame. For a neater cabling alternative go with Campag or SRAM. Good luck. Post a pic please when you've got it.
  7. What an amazing bike - look people are staring at its awesomeness!
  8. Bees in your bib! One is sure to ride like hell trying to shake them off- good one!
  9. I'm thinking of starting a thread called - "Why the @$@&& has this not happened before I bought my DA7900 somewhere else"

    STOLEN BIKE

Sorry to hear about your loss. That bike must be so conspicuous in Oudtshoorn! Speak to the local cops or get a local guy to find it for you - I'm sure it'll turn up to claim the reward.
  11. This is sad! Is there not a company doing bike "tracker"?
  12. Hi Wheelz Who is going to paint your bike in CT? Cost? I might want to start a project too. Regards Fakes
  13. That's a nice bike! Amazing the lines that can be achieved with carbon. Okay, I'll take one of these also if anybody is clearing out their '09 bikes!
  14. BH there's only one Fakes, me. Same writing style? Maybe another hubber was also taught English by Mrs Goodwin. I don't know. Q: Did the butterflies give LA wings? A: ?
  15. No not yet, but I just love the lines of the R3! If only I could get a 56cm for R3,00 or for free. Anybody willing to donate their worthless Cervelo's to me? Don't worry about the postage, I'll cover that!
  16. And next year, Contador will be riding a Cervelo to a 3rd TdF win, and then what will the clued up BH have to say? Is the coffee that strong in Angola?
  17. Everybody who knows me, you're most welcome to watch it at my house!
  18. I often do it after I win the local PPA rides. Don't you?
  19. Thanks so much for the response - good to know that you haven't had any problems.
  20. Anybody?
  21. Please open a case at the police station - this way they must investigate it. Get the police commisioner also involved as well as the MEC for transport. Our plight for safe cycling muct b etaken seriously. Regards Fakes
  22. Hi, Is there anybody that has been using a joint supplement such as USN's JointPlex for a long time? If so, would you be kind enough to share your experience? The reason I ask is that I started using JointPlex when I developed an ITB problem about eight months ago. In addition I had my cleats adjusted to reduce stretch on my ITB, and started a stretching programme. The ITB went away after 6 weeks, and I'm wondering if there is any benefit to continue using JointPlex. Is there somebody that's been using it for 5 years or more that can report positively (or negatively) ? I'm a social rider in group J (PPA), so another question I have is whether its necessary for a rider like me to be taking anything to protect my knees in the long term? I started cycling in 2007 and I'm now 37 years old. I like the sport and will probably ride for a long time. Regards Fakes
  23. Try planet x - their wheels are not so expensive
  24. Surely the local authority should pay to have the signs installed. What about bicycle lanes? How many of the popular cycle routes have lanes for cyclists? We have a similar problem here in CT. After the death of several cyclists in prep for the Argus, the City Council put out to tender the planing, design and construction of cycling facilities.
  25. I'm a TdF junkie! I need my fix every year.
