  1. That's life for you.
  2. Perhaps the carbon soled shoe is lighter? Is there a big price diff?
  3. They fall in the clothing category of underwear. Many bras and panties become sets of underwear and not underwears.
  4. But then again a single pants is also called a pair! Who came up with this language? Maybe we should start speaking Xhosa.
  5. Wow! Endless entertainment on the Hub. What do we fit to a bike? A pair of handlebars or a handlebar? The handlebars were dropped by xmm vs The handlebar was dropped xmm. My preference is for handlebar. I can see a pair of STI's, pair of calipers, but I only see one handlebar.
  6. Morning everyone, I thoroughly enjoyed this thread. Thanks to the guy who started it all. Hope eveyone has a good day, and to those not in the best of health, especially my buddy AB that crashed in Knysna, wishing you a speedy recovery. Peace, Fakes
  7. Barloworld is not an eg. They're an international team racing international events. I agree that racing abroad is good to improve standards etc, or having JS and Hannachi race here - the thing is who sponsored Yolande? Looks like I won this debate. No facts from anybody - just rants and raves.
  8. The international racing circuit issue - there's no problem there. I'm still waiting for facts about a SA rider who is being sponsored by a company in the host country riding in their leagues. Just one will do, and I'll say thats fair.
  9. If foreigners want to race the local leagues - they can do it at their own cost.
  10. Good luck with the setup. Take it easy at first and build up your mileage.
  11. In a similar vein then, the whole "buy" South African debate is rubbish. Proudly South African? I would love love to ride with/against overseas riders in our local races - but if you asked me whether I would pay to bring a rider here and race against him - I'd say no. If he's here on his own accord, bringing his Euro's with him, that's great. Good for our economy and everything else. Our local leagues are for locals- besides JS I think we have a Moroccan also racing. The TdFrance is an international sporting event, with international teams. I don't think there is a single team of one nationality. Even the french company Cofidis have two non-french riders (probably playing Domestiques). Waiting for some facts about a SA rider sponsored by a company of the host country competing in the "local" leagues abroad.
  12. From their website: The group is made up of a national network of Pharmaceutical wholesalers with 9 distribution centres and over 850 retail pharmacies holding the shares in four companies. Almost three hundred of the above are identified Alpha Pharm Pharmacies across the country. They all belong to the individual owner an independent retail pharmacist. This is where the strength lies because the manager is also the owner of the pharmacy and will walk that extra mile for his customers. And because he is the owner you will see him in his pharmacy year in and year out. In the wholesale division more than 18,000 items are carried and it represents almost every item that you will find on a retail pharmacies shelves. In-house, state of the art, IT systems drive the communications and business procedures to streamline the service excellence for which the group stands. The slogan ?YOUR FIRST STEP IN HEALTHCARE? is a registered trademark used in all the retail store.
  13. Alpha Pharm certainly got the attention they were after- well done to their marketing genius!
  14. This sponsoring thing of a foreigner will be a major issue if there were 10 or 20 buitelanders being sponsored by a SA company. So perhaps the original post had a bit of sense - can easily be twisted into nonsense though!
  15. Any other problems with this groupset? Thinking of getting a second hand set.
  16. If you can try and ride in a group or minimum two cyclists. There are so many crackheads (tik-koppe) out there just looking for trouble, so even the safest of places are not that safe. If anybody's interested, we ride every Sunday from Tashreeka's in Kromboom Road in Rondebosch East.
  17. Thanks this is helpful. Not buying at this stage - but the knowledge will be useful when I do!
  18. Hello to all you stressed people in CT and elsewhere Is there a method to detect hairline cracks or weaknesses in a carbon frame when buying second hand? Maybe the CT weather will let up soon and we can go for a ride.
  19. Ryder all the way!!
  20. Sorry for your loss - will keep a lookout at the races!
