    Wheel options!!!

Wow those Rolf wheels look awesome! The clinchers are about the same weight as the R-sys, so they would not work for me. They are simply stunning though, I keep on taking another look at the tubbies.

They weighed 1410g, and were tubbies.

Has anybody got a set of Spada Stiletto Mg? Apparently weight is 1080g and cost new is around $850 = R6500.
  4. I go maybe every two months to CWC, and I'm always amazed that Chris Junior and Christoph will greet me by name! Those guys have RAM for brains. Service is 5 star. Parking is a bit tight sometimes, will cycle next time. They could be 7 star if they offered Mantellis!

    Wheel options!!!

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like tubbies are about the only reasonably priced option if I want to go lighter. I don't really want to go that route though because of the hassle with punctures, glue, etc.

    Wheel options!!!

No the carbones are not for sale, plus I've specialized them for my bike. See pic below:

    Wheel options!!!

Train and race with - I don't have separate wheels for racing only. For flat races (on non-windy days) I'd use the Carbones, and for hilly races use the R-Sys. For training I alternate between wheel sets. Why?
  8. Hi Hubbers, I often ride on Spaanschemat Road in the afternoon from 5pm onwards. Yesterday for the 4th time a guy (passenger) in an old Mazda 323 lets out a banshee scream as they passed me. He then turns around to see what effect it had on me. Has anybody else experienced this or know who the person is so that I can return the favour? Maybe he's jealous of my SL2 and wants me to fall! Regards Fakes
  9. Hi Hubbers, Some advice from wheel specialists would be appreciated. Currently I have a SL2 which I ride with either Mavic Carbones or Mavic R-Sys wheels. The bike feels more responsive when it has the R-Sys on it - probably because they do weigh about 250g less than the Carbones. Anyway, Hubbers I am looking at getting even lighter wheels than the R-Sys - would love to have a set of carbon clinchers but they must weigh less than the R-Sys wheels and have the same stiffness or better. I have a buyer for my R-Sys wheels already, but that is irrelevant I suppose - maybe just some pressure for replacement wheels. So the question is what wheels do I get in place of the R-Sys - need to be lighter than 1300g and same or better stiffness as R-Sys - I weigh 75kg now but my weight goes up to 80kg sometimes. Desmond any ideas? Looking forward to replies from this "Hub" of information Regards Fakes
  10. Spaanschemat Road in Constantia also has it's fair share of jokers. Nothing as hectic as a taser though!
  11. Prices are hectic! The top-end equipment is very nice though....so shiny and so much less weight....nice!
  12. Hello to all the Lance followers and worshippers! Does anyone know if Lance Armstrong (Pharmstrong, Not-so-Strong, etc-strong) is racing next year? If so what team etc details please...
  13. Ya, thanks for letting us know about those okes!
  14. Sias I like what you say, how is the next question? Too many law abiding citizens are behind security fences, electric wire and security guards on every corner - perhaps we need show the government one way or another that the current state is not acceptable. What will make a difference? Grab their attention and lead to change.
  15. I would like to hear what Sias has to say about how this country can progress and leave behind its current set of problems - economic, moral etc.
  16. So Sias what's the solution?

    Argus tomorrow

Just sell your bike, that is if it's not too much hassle. Seriously though, the vibe up Suikerbossie is awesome, it's like your own Tour de France. I heard the Stormers girls will be doing a special show here!
  18. Thanks MD. Thats useful info if you want to replace the chainrings with another make.
  19. hi Hubbers, Some help would be appreciated. What does the marking 130BCD on a SRAM crank mean? See pic below: Cheers, Fakes
  20. Build. Loads of fun if you have the time.
  21. I think the Sram STI's are smaller than the Shimano STI's. Could be a better fit.
  22. Name and shame - can't let other cyclists have their pride and joy messed up.
  23. Heartbreak Hill Bishopscourt (Forest Avenue)- short but a killer!
  24. Unless your name is Spiderman or some variant....don't.
  25. Do the following: 1. Buy some anti smash&grab safety film, stick it all over your bike! 2. Have a tracker fitted 3. Go for defensive cycling lessons 4. Fit some lights 5. Keep it next to your bed 7. Pray for a safe ride. Good luck.
