  1. fingerprints..
  2. except from the occasional @#shole that tries to see how close to you he can pass I have never had something like that happen to me.. but what do you do when it happens? lose your temper and swear at them, or just keep cool and carry on cycling? (get them to stop and use some pepper spray... ???) a friend of mine once told me, a bunch of students in a car slowed down to the same speed her dad was driving and one guy hung out the window and pushed him off is bike, and then sped off!!! I KEEL U!!!!! (that's my thoughts)
  3. My babies,,, with the decals I got from Tazman.. Thanks TAZ!!!
  4. I use the edge 305 and I love it, the only thing with the garmin is that it needs charging, while I dont think the polar has that "problem" so when you are doing a stage race, just make sure you have something to charge it with! but if you're only " a social rider" I'd take the garmin,, (it can be used for much more than cycling aswell)
  5. HR I tried to get this thread to die out back on page 1 I think... good luck man..
  6. WAIT!!!!!!!!! my popcorn will be ready in 2 min...

    headset play

ok thanks I think I'll take in in and let them have a look at it.. you had me worried there for a moment when you started talking about the fork stentions and stuff...

    headset play

ok LB,, I did what you said, and if I did it correctly it feels fine... it kinda feels like the play is on the botton part of my headset?

    headset play

ok I hate to sound stupid, but what exactly are my "fork stantions" I checked, the skewer, it good,, the spacers on the steerer are tight, they cant move up and down.. but there is still a slight backwards and forwards movement??

    headset play

ok I will try that,, but how do I check "that the play isn't by the fork stantions?"
  12. I had my raleigh rm8 built by the guys at FPC a few weeks back,, at the time I had it built I was still in a sling from my shoulder op, so I only took for it's first ride last weekend (coffee ride at the experience) when I rode it I heard a weird sound at the front, and with my limited knowledge I assume that its play on the headset. If I pull the front brake and move the bike a bit forward and backwards, you can feel some play.. Is there something I should check so that I could maybe fix it myself??? or should I rather just take it back to them? (p.s I used the headset from my marathon 8 raleigh that I had)
  13. Impey, this camp sounds great!! which I could have joined you, but I have to do vacwork have a great one though!
  14. haha!! take your a big bianchi man then T?? you ride one??? (see how quickly we turned this post into something more interesting? )
  15. bianchi... uhhmmm,,, no just kidding, I although I dont ride one, I like them!!
  16. thanks turtlek, glad you agree!!
  17. come on guys... dont you get bored of all these Lance Armstrong threads?? I'll give it to him, he's good, but turtlek has a good point aswell.. why dont we just wait about a month or so and see what he can produce in the 2009 season??

    shoes

depends on the level you're riding on.. heavier pedals will obviously make the bike heavier,, but if you're not seriously into racing you wont know the difference. just check on the road pedals, they have different "settings" that keep your foot 'locked' into position (like tightening your mtb pedals alot) and the clips that you put on your shoes, also allow different amounts of play.. the guy at your lbs should be able to help you with this. some people get knee pain if their feet are locked into position, and dont have a small amount of movement. as for the shoes,, you can go all out and get a pair with carbon soles and the works, but if you are not pushing for seconds of you're time you wont notice it.. just ensure that the soles are nice and stiff and dont flex too much.

    shoes

I rode with mtb shoes on a roadbike and really there is nothing wrong with doing it,, in the end it does the same thing. but I must also add... I bought road shoes when I bought my "new" roadbike and I personally feel that the road shoes are more comfortable on the roadbike than the mtb shoes,, but I think your pedals and everything plays a role here? if you have the money, get some road shoes, you dont have to spend 1000's of $$$ on them either..
  20. agree thats BULLSH.. !!! their problem, they pay to fix it, so wherever they fix it, they must pay to get it there! good luck man!
  21. yeah I look like some kind of mutant girraffe.. but if you subtract about 30cm you'll be closer to the truth! (57) thanks for pointing that out for me buckstopper!

    shoes

you might get some "style aware" roadies who would look down on you if you wear mtb shoes on a road race... but then when you kick their butts, it feels alot better!
  23. cycle fan,, if the size of the bikes bothers you, eg makes your knees or anything else hurt, then it's probably too small I'm 1.75 with inner leg length of ~ 85cm and I ride a 87cm top tube... if the glove fits...wear it... my opinion, same with the bike (unless you have money to spend and want to get a new one??)
