  1. If thats the case then it took my 4 minutes to cross the line starting in E I suppose thats just the way it is with what 16000 people and all. Not fused but as you say need to run some seeding races before to start closer to the gun
  2. Absolutely loved it! The route was beautiful and so was the support, especially those on trucks . Was my first half and certainly not my last, oh and that Southern Cross Drive... pffft,pfft- just a bump in the route . I did however start feeling a small cramp at those freekin steep embankments on Rhodes Drive. I managed a 2:14, was actually aiming for a 2:20 with the longest I've ever run before being about 7km and minimal to no training I'm happy. What I wondered though was why there was such a difference between my racetec chip time and my watch as I started and stop on the timing mat. My watch registered 2.10???
  3. Another question I forgot to ask is wrt hydration. When I cycle I usually use 32gi regularly. Shall I just fill up on 32gi 30min before the race(&hope not to pee ) and grab water at the watering holes?
  4. Lol ,yep, I'll just kick into granny gear aka walking as per eeeek
  5. Oh how ignorance is bliss , took a reconnaissance drive yesterday to check out the route from just after the M3 section. Oh my hat, Southern Cross Drive to Rhodes Drive is a Monster, how are we supposed to get up that never ending road . Can you tell I've not been training
  6. Thanx for organizing and putting up with me guys. Was a really tough workout for me and breaker is now officially broken. To The only other guy on his mtb, u are a machine sir.
  7. Hi definitely want to join the slower group. How long do you reckon the whole ride would take at this mellow pace?
  8. Was my the second time I did the lite. Awesome as always, I probably did the same time as last year, but felt way stronger this year. I fell ill just after the 99er so no real time to train.I was even a bit more organised this year from lessons learnt last year when I spent 5 min trying to find my bike in transition This year I put up my little wp rugby flag(not that that helped the bloody rugby ) worked like a charm. The swim was not bad at all, I tempted fate and sat in the middle of the washing machine to 'see what it was like'. Wasn't that bad and I cruised into openish water after about 100m. Very disappointed in my mtb leg as I've been doing more of that lately. Came off 3 times, all of them over my handle bars. What made it worse is that I'm not wearing cleats . The run went better than expected, didn't walk as much as last year and even managed a little sprint finish (with a boy probably 3 times my junior, lol I sure showed him :whistling: ) I don't know how people can enjoy that little splash though, again it felt like I picked up 5kg in my shoes. All in all it was a great event, gonna try and get the family there next year if I can organise parking @ the club. And will def be making an effort to hit that ST again.
  9. Doing the 21 for the first time, and that is first running event EVER Part of my bucket list, so just going for a finish. Will start asking training questions closer to the time, like a week before thats enough time right :whistling:
  10. True story, I've seen the photo graphic evidence of said incident... shocking I tell you... Good luck finding it Eugene.
  11. So driving home yesterday, traffic at a standstill and cursing the commuters sailing by , I recalled all the topics in this forum and wondered, what would happen if I recognised a perceivably stolen bike. Now I know the chances are slim of spotting one, but thats what this thread is for. I recall one person posting unique markings like tape on the wheels or something like that making it relatively easy to spot. My question is what do you do at that moment? I probably won't confront the person riding, but at that specific point in time, getting onto the hub and posting will probably take too long to get a response if any from the original owner. So other than the op leaving their cell number on the forum, which obviously isn't a good idea, how do we go about the situation?
  12. Dammit, my one place of solice where I ALWAYS ride alone on the black route
  13. Where is this? Looks awesome.
  14. Awesome thread. Thought I would ask what was the progression of your kids ito bikes, so something like: 1st bike @ 11/2 - 2yrs was a xxx bike 2nd bike @ 2 years - 6yrs was a yyy bike 3rd bike etc, etc.... I fear I'm behind already , my daughter is 17months old and I need to figure out what to get her.
  15. Night ride, now theres an idea, not many golf course still doing that night golf thing, so that might work.
  16. Yep thats me right there , still luv it though.
  17. Yep, at this time of year in that damn you definitely won't need one, if its the temperature you are worried about. Which reminds me, I actually need to get a decent tri-shorts, will be doing my second short one this year. Where does one get one of these? Awesome event by the way.

Was just about to ask something similar about swimming straight and about how to look up without interrupting your stroke when swimming in open water. Some good info here

Yes it was the aqua beat, you've just got to watch the volume level on those, because it literally is in your ear you can't have it too loud.

I bought a speedo mp3 player about a year and a bit ago for my wife on group on. I used it a few times and it was flippin awesome. Unfortunately she/we never used for about a year and when I tried it again, it was dead. wouldn't pick up on the pc. So I called group on, of course it just ran out of warranty, called speedo and they wouldn't touch it as it was a "grey" import So ya maybe I just bought the odd lemon, but while it worked it was really good.

I've never been a strong swimmer, in fact I've only recently realised that I didn't need to only breath on every 2nd stroke ,so I've been trying every 3rd and 4th stroke but seem to be more comfortable on 4. Today's sets in a 25m pool were: 2 lap warm up, 10 laps break, 10 lap break, 20 lap break and lastly a 4 lap medley for shytes and giggles. I def need to get some coaching to improve my technique I think it will go a long way.
  23. Good looking shoes that is!
  24. Both GF's in one car, brave man
  25. Whats the story with the shoes for these flat? I assume that the sole just has a pattern that sort of hooks into the little studs on the peddles?
