  1. Encase you open to an Alternative Rouvy has a 30 day free promo, perfect for the lock-down. My Zwift trial rain out after only 50Km anyway claim a 30 day free Rouvy trial here https://woobox.com/mak2yy
  2. Incase anyone needs, the route link that was shared previously only works on the app, here is a web version https://www.strava.com/routes/21090782 Here is the original. https://strava.app.link/lLFs4B0qp0
  3. I agree weight is not the primary gain, I have been on the tubeless road for almost 4 years now, Riding the Schwalbe Pro One 25c comes in at 280g and I only add in 30ml of sealant. I do however clean and replace the sealant every 2 to 3 months. extra maintenance but I get to ride at 5 to 6 bar, and only ever had two cuts that didn't seal. Instead of carrying a spare tube I carry an extra 60ml bottle of sealent and 2 bombs. https://www.schwalbe.com/en/road-reader/schwalbe-pro-one.html The only complaint I have is the price, so keen on trying those Giant tires soon. but also these contis might keep the legendary longevity, which will be a good bonus.
  4. Apologies, yes you are correct, its the Fusion 3 that lasted well.
  5. Hi, I think you are all sorted with tubeless, just thought I would drop a note. I have been on tubeless road for 4 years, been through most of the brands of tyres and sealants. Tyre wise Hutchinson fusion 4 lasts the longest, specialized is the most comfortable grippy, but schwalbe pro one is by far the best tire all round. Sealants. Stans really good keeps the tyres nice and balanced. Schwalbe focused blue is stans with other packaging, Sans race sealent is awesome but needs to be cleaned out every 2 months. Bontrager tlr sealent gets my vote as all round best. Seals better than stans at high pressure and lasts longer. Word of note: as soon as the sealant gets hard and old.. you have to clean it out. And it's a mission to get off the inside of the tyres. The hard sealant messes with the balance of the road tyres at high speeds. Solution is to ride allot so you wear out the tyre before the sealent drys. For cuts I use eaither tyre boots from sportsmen's warehouse. Or really well stuck on tube patches. Never had luck with the worms. All the best
  6. I totally agree, best is very subjective. just because they give great coffee and scones at the reception does not make for a good wheel builder. I just want a wheel with the correct spoke tensions and fairly straight.Because my larger frame of 100kgs seems to highlight incorrect spoke tensions really quickly. :-P
  7. Hi everyone, I am looking for a wheel builder, but the topic hasn't been active for two years.. any updates info ? Preferably someone close to west coast or cape town city.
  8. Excuse me if i am being a little idiotic here but does this mean you have taken a better product off the market ? and replaced it with a carb only alternative, which doesn't help the recovery afterwards ? "a carb drink will result in the same performance as a carb / protein drink"Same during the ride However, protein in the drink result in a faster recovery after exercise and improved performance in any subsequent exercise bouts. But Classic Energy is better for after the ride and for the next ride. It is for this reason that we invented CarboFuel - A carbohydrate and electrolyte drink.Taken a better product off the market ? and replaced it with a carb only alternative ? I am sorry but that's what i am reading here .. have I understood that wrong ? from what i gather is that to get the same benefit as Classic energy i need to take carb fuel & (Revive or Protein Fuel) after the ride ? or take Marathon which as far as I remember is a concentrated Classic Energy?Problem being that its a little to concentrated making the flavor a little too strong. I have no doubt CarboFuel works well, and i will try it.. but as far as I can tell Classic Energy was better ? RIP Classic Energy
  9. Does the Classic Energy still exist? Marathon is a little strong for my tastes, seems less of a thirst quenching drink and Carbo Fuel doesn't seem to have half the benefits/added nutritional value that classic energy used to have...plus there is no protein.
  10. Afternoon Jeroen, Just a quick question are you still making the Classic Energy ? and if not which would you recommend i replace it with ? P.S i agree with the comments above, cadence is almost impossible to find since dis-chem stopped distributing it for you.
  11. "No matter how you look at it, the bottom line is this - You pay R600, just to start off with you get - an Ftech shirt (worth at least R500), Your CSA licence (R195). In my books that on it's own is a negative figure for them if you can add up..." That's if you get your Ftech Shirt.. I joined on the 10th Feb .. Still nothing from them..
  12. May I ask how did they take it from you ? bike-jack ?
  13. The link doesn't work for me. .Could you post a link to the page please
  14. P.S overall, my review of these tires and tubeless thus far is great.. Punctures seal, even at my higher Pressures and weight + less sealant then recommended. Comfort or the ride is improved, grip also feels better/safer and i am more confident. then i was on GP4000s's Weight seem one half dozen of a another.. (aka no benefit or disadvantage) My setup Rider 87kgs Shimano Ultegra Road Wheelset 6700 Hutchinson Fusion 3 tires 110 psi 25ml Stans sealant in each tire
  15. The No more snakebite's is a myth.. I am still running my tubeless tyres with 100/110PSI Hit a cat eye at a decent speed.. snake bite ;-P back tyre On a Tubeless Tyre that means a sidewall cut because the Tyre got jammed between the road and the rim.. CWCycles were great through, gave my ruined tire back to them, didn't expect anything to come of it, But Hutchinson replaced the Tyre, big kudos to Hutchinson and CWCycles :-)
  16. @Jonkie How much FRM sealant have you got in the tyres ? also would you mind sharing your weight ? I am 88kg, is 85psi for light weights ?
  17. Woofie your experience sounds bad, really scary.. I just put on my tubeless tyres, road without any rim strips or sealant for a day.. But the rear tyre valve was leaking so added Stans sealant today.. Anyone know how much I should use? I went with 25 ml (half a small bottle in each tyre? enough? or not really ? Running Shamino Ultreaga 6700 rims with Hutchison Fusion 3 tyres. Normal pressure for now 110 psi rear + 100 psi front
  18. thank you AfdElite, Is this the right I-cycle ? http://www.i-cycleinsurance.co.za/page2.html Yikes there website doesn't do them any favors at all.. Looks a bit shaky, that website couldn't have cost much. I don't really like to judge a book by its cover but yikes they need to put a little more effort into the cover, I have seen food trucks with more professional looking websites. I think I prefer the cycle sure, least the backed by Hollard and wont be going anywhere soon. even though its kinda strange the bike must be locked down, i will make sure i ask them about that.. anyway thank you guys, you are a great help.
  19. Awesome @AfdElite, thats what i am trying to find, those loop holes they ad in.
  20. @Heinrich55 Miway sounds good, pity they dont want to email me a quote, they need to speak to me first. I guess I will answer a call eventually :-) @Mojoman thank you for that, I will make sure the insurance company I decide on allows me to buy a new bike from Specialized / any shop I want to. At home I “think” its covered, but with all the Bike Hijackings, I asked Dial direct about cover for the bike when I am outside.. and nothing.. No cover at all. I only get cover if they break into the house and steal it, with signs of forced entry.. “So if they show up my your door with a gun, its not covered..” the consultant replied by saying “ in that case you covered but only if there is signs of forced entry” now I am thinking of canceling dial direct.. Those kind of answers along with previous stolen cellphone (not covered sorry) experiences leaves a bad taste.. my bike and I are connected at the hip, I use it to get to work and back.. I use it on the weekends..I use it when having fun.. and in races, so it’s hardly ever at home alone to get stolen.
  21. Hi there Guys, Subject says it all what should i be asking of a insurance company? Any recommendations so for a company? Right now I am looking at miway and cycle-sure.
  22. Looks like you will be getting your Wish DJR .. South Easter predicted :-) Any strong riders starting in Group M ? I am strong on the straight’s and looking for a few guys to team up with ?
  23. Hi there Cav, The bike is "Heavy" but decent a bit like the rider :-) 2013 Specialized Allez Elite - Size 56 - 10 Speed Tiagra and DT Classic Wheels Aluminium Frame/Carbon fork The Tyres are Specialized Espoir Sport 360g a tyre Thinking of getting the S-works Turbo at 150g a tyre The Wheels I am looking at is the American Classic victory 30 My thinking is "rotational weight" matters most at the furthest edge of the rotation so a rim matters more than a spoke or a hub and a tyre more than a rim ?? Lighter weight = better climbing and acceleration ? More aero = higher speed on the straight ? but how much of a benefit will the 850g actually bring ?
