  1. Ja thought so. It's closed mate. Not open to riding.
  2. The trails all had tape closing them off, and riders tore them all off. MTO has in any event made it crystal clear than the all trails in Jonkers are off limits unless stated otherwise. Only a handful of trails have been publicised as open. Canaries and the olf Flow/DH trails are not amongst them. Bennet Nel has told me he's had to chase people off the Top Canaries so often, but people just keep riding the trails.
  3. Correct. Off limits. The gate at the bottom is closed with a big no entry sign. Unambigious as they get.
  4. Canaries are most certainly closed. There is tape at the bottom gate and you know very well that the only trails opened are the ones advised by MTO - Neverending, the Ellioti trails and soon the new black and red. In the same sentence you say the trails are clearly being logged so you just have to walk it and then you still consider them fine for riding. Canaries are off limits. No debate to be had.
  5. People are still riding upper canaries despite explicit logging closures. Pretty moronic, but by all means, just don't cry when you get flattened by a tree or become part of a rock slide.
  6. Bit concerning to see photos of trails which are definitely no-go zones due to logging activities. Stuff like that will lead to an unfrtunate accident and get the park closed. Period.
  7. The Mercer doesn't have a flawed design causing brakejack... Discuss.
  8. Seems the rain decided to go elsewhere for its weekend retreat. Dustbowl here we come.
  9. YR predicting about 23mm from Sunday - Monday. Perfect.
  10. MOre than Zuma can pronounce.
  11. Not much "local design" going into the wheels and hubs though. They're just ordered and rebranded as far as I know. Might be wrong. The CSixx stuff are actually designed by them and I can attest to the quality.
  12. Agree 100% with all of that. Just a pity they are forced to pass on the spec cost to the consumer given them being shafted by suppliers.
  13. At least the other bikes have their specsheets to blame for ripping the hole out of it...
  14. Problem is, individuality stops at the frame design, and the frame price isn't my major issue. The poor buying power of these "niche brands" make them unreasonably expensive, not because they are somehow unique beyond name and design (as opposed to tech and ride quality), but because it costs them a sh*t ton of money to build the bike for you, essentially passing the cost on to you. So really, if being unique means picking up the tab for a small outfit, then please show me the way down stream. And besides, the desire to be unique, is not unique. So inevitably you find yourself seeing your "one of a kind" bike all over the show.
  15. I was that guy and the owner made me feel like a loser so I just never returned. Two years loyal patronage. Meant zip when it came down to brass tax.
  16. I think you missed the cynical sarcasm. Be that as it may, I'm just glad I'm not a bike salesman. I would never be able to sell a bike with a straight face. "Yes, sir I realise the vehicle you'll be driving this bike away with costs only a fraction more, but you know the dollar has been hard on us and hey, XX1 bru!"
  17. Whatever. They ask that because they know people will pay it. Just like the Cape Epic and property in the CBD.
  18. A bargain. Didn't you know? Bikes now start at R50k pre-upgrades. Because dollars, or something to do with people being willing to pay whatever the f&*ck Pinkbike and the Hub says is fair value. Your bike from last year is a piece of trash and you will never be happy until you spend your kid's education on a new bicycle. Until next year.
  19. Is there a particular reason these write ups exclude the forks from the spec sheets? Same with the Reign.
  20. Really not trolling here, but does the controlled nature of this beast not spoil all the fun? I know suspension made riding a bike easier and faster, so my argument fails at the gate, but still. Does it not dumb down riding a bit, and even then, is that a bad thing given that it opens doors to newbies to ride proper trails quicker? Discuss.
  21. That awkward moment someone does their victory dance, and their pants fall down...
  22. I'd love to see that R54k Niner good Sir.
  23. Will the piggy back hit the frame?
