  1. Is there any way to fit a bottle cage to the Codeine?
  2. The lack of dropper isn't ideal, but still. Snotbad.
  3. Well even that would be great value. Wheels can always be broken and rebuilt later in life, but with that suspension, dropper and groupset you have 90% great bike.
  4. Ok cool. I see they do a XO1, XT stoppers build for R56k (so I suppose R51k'ish after haggling for the 10%...), but just wonder what the R42k build would look like. Have asked and received half answers - apparantly it rolls on the same suspension, but that's all they say???
  5. Sorry to be common, but is that the R42k build? If not, what spec are you running and what did that set you back? With all the new 2016 prices basically putting paid to any plans I had of a new big name brand bike, I am looking to more boutique brands.
  6. To be truly ###### one must ride the following: - a bike with an impractically slack headangle, because gravity; - the widest possible tyres regardless of one's cornering ability, because grip; - the widest possible rims, because its very enduro to talk about tyre pressures; - more travel than you will realistically ever require on your local trails; - a backpack with literally all your wordly possessions crammed in there (except a shock pump, because some guy in the US ended himself that way); - brake rotors so large they could stop Casper de Vries' swearing, because speed; - handlebars as wide as your arms can possibly reach, because "leverage"; - as short a stem as possible regardless of rider geometry, because "see handlebars for reference"; - flat pedals, because Sam Hill; - a dropper post, because well f*ck those things actually do make life worth living. Am I doing it right?
  7. Bro, don't you know the heavier and more tanklike the bike the more #enduro it is... Next season will see the re-emergence of permatubes and 1m handlebars.
  8. So nearly three months after this article appeared it seems the initial enthuisiasm has faded. I haven't noticed a massive uptake in the market. In fact I haven't heard of or met anyone riding this system. Might the few embarrassing blow outs on the WC DHI circuit have something to do with it?
  9. Yes, perhaps it's mere semantics. I am trying to distinguish between reacting on behalf of others when you have absolutely no skin in the game and cases where you are directly insulted. But just be careful. I said specifically that's what goes on in my head when I hear an insulting ad. I make an individual choice as consumer. I don't go running to social media screaming like my hair is on fire calling for people to lose their jobs or others to join me in my personal crusade. Each person can decide for themself. And I don't see much wrong with that.
  10. Except, getting offended on behalf of someone else is just plain stupid, whereas if I were a woman I may very well have felt insulted at the insinuation that I'm a precious little petal that requires special treatment lest I go and hurt myself in a man's race. Or if I am Afrikaans, as I am, I get to be insulted when someone insinuates that I am a stupid afrikaner who can't string a few english words together without sounding like I have a mouth full of biltong (yes, I know what I did there). Again, I just questioned the wisdom of the pitch, not the idea itself. All the power to the organisers.
  11. Like I said, the proof will be in the pudding. I don't begrudge anyone their success. It's not for me, a man, to be offended on behalf of women in cases like this. I can however objectively look at something and say "Hmmm, is what they are implying really true or getting the message across as intended?" I don't get offended when someone does the stereotypical "boertjie can't speak english" voice on ads. It is insulting though and leads me to think "ok, you made my decision not to support you that much easier, PS, you should fire your marketing team". People should differentiate between being offended and being insulted.
  12. Thought I'd help out there. The generalisation isn't sound.
  13. Just to be clear (and less sarcastic) - I am serious that women should vote with their wallet. If the event is well supported then by all means, it proves that the pitch was spot on and the outraged can go start their own event instead of peeing on someone else's efforts. If not, the marketers will have to revisit the concept. I personally have zero problem with corporate discrimination if it is rational and based on factual realities. Let's see if this one is.
  14. Why don't they rather market it as a "Beginner's" or "Stage Race Lite"? The pitch seems patronizing...and I despise modern day feminism (aka "Bloggers need jobs too"). But hey, let the ladies vote with their (or their husband's...see what I did there?) wallets.
  15. Not a bad intro to the world of Spez! Sick bike!
  16. The only launch that monstrosity is good for is one into the sea. Get in the sea!
  17. Looks a lot like a scalpel. An please don't bore me with "the suspension is different blah blah". I'm just saying with that colour way the first thing that pops up in my mind is a Scalpel. Pretty gross bike. It looks bloated and fat bellied.
  18. Pretty sure Boxxer is 35mm
  19. You forgot to add "Trust me I'm an engineer"
  20. Cool! Now if I can only get my bike to make me suck less.
  21. Plus I think Akrigg shoots and edits everything himself.
  22. Prefer his videos to Danny's. More raw and trail orientated, whereas Macaskill can seem slightly overproduced / contrived at times. In my opinion. Plus that Mongoose is such a hot bike.
  23. Agree 100%. Was definitely not my intention to add to any scaremongering. The situation sounds like it was likely a case of misreading the situation (but as you stated, totally appropriate reaction).
  24. Ah, well that I did not read. Sounds very plausible.
  25. Yes, that's what I read. "Attempted mugging" probably the incorrect phrase, sorry. More like, "narrowly avoided physical attack on cyclist" would have been more appropriate. Apologies.
