  1. i actually travel with my clever dripper these days instead of my aeropress. i use the cotton filters for easy cleaning. i understand where long wheel base is coming from though. i waited for 5+ years before i could buy my machine. During that time i bought a couple of "cheap" espresso machines, i passed both of them on to someone else within the first 6 months and played around with moka, aeropress, and more recently the clever dripper. i enjoy all three of them on different days, but you need a good quality grinder (i currently use my "handground" with the manual methods) with any method you drink your coffee. if you cant afford an expensive machine at the moment, spend the moola you planned on spending on the machine on a grinder and just stick to what you have now

You gotta love the karma. As the commentator show's how good cook is against the short ball and compares him to elgar, who does not have the best hook shot in the game, Cook gets out to the short ball

  9. They've had a stall at the midmar mile for the last two or three years. I enjoy their coffee and they are always up for a chat
  10. I will take you up on that offer at some point, will take any help i can get. I think i need to attend a intro barista course at some point. For now though i will just enjoy playing around a bit and pretend i know what i am doing (YouTube makes you feel educated ).
  11. Finally i can post a proper post on this thread. So this happened yesterday afternoon (please see pictures below ). Unfortunately i had prior arrangements last night with the wifey and some friends, so I had to wait until this morning to start playing around with it. I knew from the start it will take some grinding to dial in the shots, but it kind off hurt to throw so much coffee away. "Eye on the prize" and what felt like an eternity i finally pulled a shot worth while. It might have just been the excitement of the whole experience, but i promise you it was one of the best shots I've ever tasted (or just the sour ones prior to that one). This was then screwed up with my pathetic attempt at frothing the milk, but its all good. This is where my journey begins. I have to give a shout out to the guys at koldserve for doing me a solid one with this machine, their service and support was truly amazing.
  12. Well this arrived today with a kg of beans from Deluxe Coffeeworks (by coincidence, trying it out). Unfortunately i only have the bialetti at this stage to test it out on and did that immediately of course. The grind, with my limited knowledge/experience, was pretty even and fine.
  13. That was one of my reasons why i kind of settled on the expobar. There is a lot more info on the net as well about the machines, that can make it easier to find a problem if something goes wrong. I've also bought a Mahlkonig Vario grinder at a decent price from a friend that i will upgrade at a later stage if i need to How big of a difference does the PID make in this type of machine? is it worth spending the extra amount of money?
  14. Hi guys, i need a little help, i am considering one of the two machines below. I can get a lot more info on the expobar, does anyone have any experience with the la nouva era? This is for home use with 3-6 cups a day. https://onlinecoffeeshop.co.za/shop/espresso-coffee-machines/la-nuova-era-dream-domestic-espresso-coffee-machine/ https://onlinecoffeeshop.co.za/shop/espresso-coffee-machines/crem-expobar-office-lever-brewtus-domestic-espresso-coffee-machine/ PS: thinking of pairing it with the Baratza/mahlkonig vario or Wega 5.8
  15. Would it be possible ordering a Grinder from the US, i am looking at the baratza sette 270 range. i know moreflavour brings it in, but it is scares at the moment apparently. Would the power supply be an issue?
  16. looking for a dosser less grinder. thanks for the info, will have a chat with the guys. Any other suggestions for a grinder in that price range?
  17. has anyone come across this machine? https://www.beanthere.co.za/shop/grinders/wega-max-5-8-instant/ i see somewhere they compared it to the kompak k3
  18. What a race and happy for kwia, especially after a bad 2016

Hopefully we will see more of this as he's role in the team has changed. i do not think that his current batting avg is a true reflection of his batting ability. I hope it works out, he's a potential match winner.

Behardien made a few mistakes last night as captain, but he will learn. I am excited to see some of the younger talents that we have coming through, i think we need to give credit to the selectors to give these guys some playing time (hopefully some hunger to honing their skills for the international level).
