    Cricket......

i was about to blast you for suggesting to scrap ODI's and replacing it completely with T20's. Then i continued reading and that actually sounds interesting, my wife can join me during the second innings, everyone wins.
  13. A dog...someone hit a cow, well that is what they said at the awards dinner
  14. okay so i am finally home and had some time to think about my 'race'. This was truly one of my best experiences at an event with all the support and cheering, including the days leading up to the event. The swim at PE was amazing, and although i did a few weird turns coming back for some reason i actually came in in a time i guessed before the race to be my ideal swim 1h15. The bike was such an enjoyable and scenic route, there was lots of cheering for a bike leg and i especially enjoyed the group of people at the 25km mark. The wind coming back was a bit hard, especially the final 20km when you hit that open section, but not that bad considering the wind speeds PE can deliver. The bad thing i saw on the bike leg was how many people draft in groups. i know the roads get congested and it is impossible not to gain some advantage, but you can clearly see someone trying to stay clear of a draft zone. Anyway, not my problem to worry about their guilt feelings when their medal hangs around their necks. i completed my bike leg in 6h16 which i was happy with considering how my legs felt after the bike leg. i needed that feeling as i've never ran a full marathon, furthest i've done was a 30km in training, and by no means do i see myself as a runner. with the sun still out i started with a relaxed pace, from previous 70.3's i know i do not perform well when the sun is beating down as i sweat a lot and usually looks like my hat is leaking water, and waited for the sun to go down. the boards they put on the road is a bag of mixed feelings for me, its good to see the km's ticking down but seeing the 8km mark and the 36km mark next to one another, you start to think how the hell am i going to get there. i had a plan on focusing on sections between waterpoints though and refused to stop if i wasn't at a waterpoint, i would collect a drink and maybe something to chow down and start running again. the best feeling on the run is when you can finally say 'screw you' to the board that reads loop and go down the one that reads finish. you are so tired, but you cant help it to smile and to lift your arms in the air. i finished the run in 4h48 and the race in 12h44 with nothing but positive feelings it my hart, i never went through a dark patch where i felt i had to stop or something. i already said it, but this was such an amazing race. i told my wife the day i entered i only want to do this at least once in my life, she asked me after the race how i felt about that statement and tried to answer her in a way to keep my options open as i knew then i would return to this race in the not to distant future.
  15. so apparently there is a challenge people do to see if you can beat the time set by your bib nr the previous year. Mine was a DNS, so all i have to do is show up
  16. Luckily i pulled the trigger in March then. Maybe email Judy Sharon and see if they cant organise anything for you. *damn, got the contact people for two different events mixed up Only leaving early friday morning, wifey needs to work until thursday night...
  17. #808 for me First full IM, had a few issues just before 70.3 EL with a big toe injury but it is feeling better the last two months. Thank for all the advice and tips, answered a few of my questions that i still had leading up to the event. Feeling excited and Sh!+ scared at the same time haha Anyone else here attempting to complete all 3 races in one year?
  18. You will always get a few people like that, but even with them it is a much better system than the age group starts they had where you had guys varying abilities starting together. There is a lot of reasons for guys stopping though, and its not always because they seeded themselves in a faster time slot. Its part of the race and something we have to deal with. I had a guy swim into the side off me, thats how skew he was swimming, and when i corrected him he started cursing me. Fun and games
