  1. More or less the same question i asked a coach the other day. he was of the opinion that it is not required to do the full distance, but did advice do do about 2/3rd of the distance about 3 times (at a slow pace) before the event for your body to adapt (my question was maybe more asking him to go from 21km to the 42km and how your training should change)
  2. my first full as well. might as well consider Durban as well then, apparently if you finish all three in one year they give you a special medal
  3. who entered with the package deal for EL as well as PE
  4. according to the website it adds up to 3km of swimming and 13km of running...looks pretty cool though
  5. i do not use GU products, but generally when i try out new supplements i go for the citrus flavour as i find in a lot of cases that its the more subtle flavour in the range and not that sweet.
  6. Agree, if you want to compete you need to be a runner. Triathlon is won on the run IMO, just look at Kona this year where the strongest runners won at the end of the day. Just make sure that it is the newer version of the wattbike. The old ones does not connect to F3, with that said though if you used the app to connect it is the newer version and should connect to your f3. i just know our VA for instance have both versions
  7. dont think the roka is available in RSA, i could never swim with the speedos as it just did not fit my face right (probably by big nose cept getting in the way of a proper fit). TYR works just fine for me
  8. Talking to myself here (as i do before every event, and just ignore my own advice in the race), but usually running issues comes from pushing to hard on the bike leg, especially if you do not have a tt bike.
  9. To improve your vision: Anti fog in goggles is a myth for me, It never works. The only thing that works for me is a little bit of baby shampoo and then wipe clean with a soft cloth.
  10. As it should be, enjoy they crowed and everything that goes with it and do not worry about your time to much the first time.
  11. what shaper said, but you have to remember that a 20km on a wattbike/IDT is not a 20km on the road. Some people i spoke with and stuff i read online said you can easily increase the training effect on your body by 30% (basically 20km on wattbike is almost like a 26km on the road)
  12. i cant really see anything wrong with your distances that you've put in. Quality over quantity for me, except for your swimming that you can up slightly *I'm not a top 10 finisher
  13. defeats the whole purpose of this exercise. they want a tighter fit when tamping. That's why they are measuring their PF cup and looking for a custom made one with a pretty handle (that is adjustable as well).
  14. maybe ask the question here as well https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/167639-ironman-2018-pe/page-4
  15. try and buy a Jura. i owned the exact delonghi and donated it to my in-laws after a few months. Coffee was not to bad, jura is just better IMO
  16. to do that you need your team to back you, to attack with the risk of losing everything? i think the riders get criticised a lot on this, but isnt always up to them. the sponsors gets some exposure with a top 10 result, and the team UCI points.
  17. Luckily no errors yet. just lucky maybe. Actually i enjoy the new app and the setup, everything thus far works
  18. Anyone here intrested in a pair of inov8 roadclaw shoes (size 43, UK 9). i bought the wrong size and did about 8-10km in them. Let me know and we can discuss a price http://www.motustriathlon.com/images/stories/virtuemart/product/SCARPA%20TRAIL%20RUNNING%20INOV8%20ROADCLAW%20275%20MEN%20suola.png
  19. its where its always been (main menu button ==> digital cards), and for the first time mine actually works. have not had a crash luckily
  20. Good Day Guys, anyone that can help me with marathons left before the end of the year in gauteng, NW? or just a site where i can get some descent information.
  21. i have to agree with this. Up until the 72km mark (what my gps showed when we turned left) i really enjoyed the race, it was hard(due to the heat mostly for me) but i enjoyed it. doing that extra 8km section was ridiculous. how do you go from 65km to 73km to 80km? i was one of the people that rode past the last WP thinking that i will be fine until the finish. the thing that got me wasnt the fact that i ran out of water, but I saw a few guys lying down in the shade of trees without any water in their bottles and i could even offer anything to them. the organizers could have said something about the distance at the start line and people would have handled the situation differently. Even the results on their website show 79km
  22. watching Contadors post stage 21 interview, he said thank you to his sponsors for allowing him to attack like that. that is an important point i think. A rider might want to attack, but does the sponsor or his ds back him. Do they just want their riders to play it safe? If his attack does not work out does he get a uit K#k session or do they say better luck next time. Louis for instance played it safe (In my opinion) to get the best overall position he could in the two GT. im not saying he would have attacked on a few stages, but we will never know. 3 exciting GT's this year, but the Vuelta probably takes it for me (the giro with a close second due to the dump on my lawn incident). Nice to see Uran back on the Podium and a good year for Zakarin with his first podium finish and a 5th in the giro.
