  2. I would rather fall many times off the road than one time on the road.
  3. I have no clue! Did a ton of research and I don't what has changed to make my gents not deserve a spot in the clan. (don't know if you can see that, i'm placed 105th if you can't click that)
  4. I still have my original team in the race with Cavendish, Valverde, and Bardet on the bench. I'm scared to drop someone forever for any of them but would it be worth it?

  6. I bought a Green bike three months ago and I am loving it! However I can't help wondering whether more people should be riding Green bikes. The conventional wisdom is that Blue bikes better suit the SA conditions of marathon type races. If you are doing the Epic or Pioneer Trek then I agree a Blue bike is probably better, however most of us do races like Berg and Bush or Wines to Whales, which are popular because of their windy single track something a Green bike is better suited for. It is also said that Green bikes suit woman and shorter riders (I am 1.78), but remember we all rode Red bikes at one stage including tall riders with much success. Do yourself a favor and try a Green bike and rekindle the fun you had on your first Red bike.
  7. "Bicycles and tandems with fairing or attachments to improve airflow, recumbent, extended bicycles, tricycles, machines known as human powered vehicles (HPVs) and other similar machines are deemed to be unconventional and are not permitted to enter without the express permission of the organisers. Please apply for special dispensation in writing to the Race Office."
  8. Sounds like a fun thing to design and build! With the amount of advertising space i'm sure you can find a sponsor with a decent presentation and concept. With all the 2c's thrown around here the rest should be a cinch! Where are you located?
  9. Yes! First bike one year ago, it was a great place to start. Podium placing bike at a good number. Thinking about "upgrading" but i'm not sure I will ever be faster than my bike can handle!
  10. A Johan with the number B163. I remember because I had A163 They handed out tickets around prize giving which sucked for all still on route...

  12. Yeah you will have to go into a store. Depends on where you live. I think the entry level ones are 1.1k, could be wrong
  13. Specialized have entry level options. Only a few things worse than uncomfortable shoes.
  14. http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/what-are-the-three-most-beautiful-mtb-competitions Well he did ask here too. Ctr-v'd from there as well.
  15. I just had a Google. It would be a softail as well. "A soft tail (also softail) relies on the flexing of the chainstays..."
  16. So I was looking at some Titanium frames and I came across this... http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Full-Suspension-Titanium-Mountain-Bike-Frame/32271637408.html How does that rear suspension work if there is one pivot point?
  17. I think it should be changed from bike porn to cyclust...
  18. I was a noob not so long ago. By far the best place to look is right here in the classifieds! The most important thing is to know your size and get a mate who is knowledgeable to have a look see before you buy. I would not go 26" as you will get an entry level bike for your budget and it will be a lot easier to sell and trade up if you have a trendier wheel size.
  19. That is strange because they are the UST ones... "UST = more rubber in the sidewall for air seal + protection Snake skin = a fabric in the sidewall for protection" -from what I have googled
  20. Once or twice but then I get back on my bike
  21. What is wrong with my Racing Ralph? http://i.imgur.com/ev41v7Q.jpg?1 I have Nobby Nic on the front and it's pretty awesome. Except for this disconcerting issue.
  22. We have never done one from there. Around 50km or so would be ideal.
