After some discussions she came to the conclusion that it is better to work on our marriage. The finance probably played a role. Both of us did not put to much effort in the relationship the last couple of years. With not to much effort it is looking better. Still climbing, hiking and surf, but more quality time together (and most important, communication)

I enjoy my house. Close to beach (surf). I will rather pay the half and take a bond on my own place than to try and buy another place. Not likely to get a similar place at beach. Memories of the past not an issue

It is accrual. Probably end up with lawyers

Can it get to a point that the court needs to decide who stays in house and who gets the money? My 1st choice is to stay

Thanks for the support. Did a 50 km cycle in the wind before work this morning. Awesome. The Friday can only get better. Question: I already had the house when we got married. The law say that she needs to get half of the worth of the house (today's value). I have no problem with that. I would like to stay in house after paying half the money. What if she also decide that she wants the house and not the money. Who stays?

Will need to give her half of my pension, which will reduce my 30 years of service to 15 years. Will have a huge impact when I retire. Not possible to recover before retirement (in 8 years).

I got the same news on 29 Dec 2017. Got back home from hiking Table Mountain and she was gone. She moved out after 29 years of marriage. She made a appointment to see a lawyer on 24 Jan 2018. She has no assists on her name, although working her whole life. Only me. Got the pension fund, Savings and house. Need to give her half of all my stuff. bad
