  1. I think I am currently too heavy to ditch the granny, but if the ratios are avaliable it is probably worth looking into. At the moment I am so frustrated because I just seem to be going slower and slower when climbing. I think trying something new might invigorate me and get me going uphill better. I also seem to find that even though MtB has more climbing and my ave HR is higher road riding seems to be harder over the whole ride. (possiblt more time to rest the legs on the downs) Has anyone else experienced the same?
  2. What's the advantage of going for a two blade front MtB setup vs the conventional three blade setup? Apparently if the ratios are chosen properly you can get a better spread of gears where it matters most and you don't loos much else. Can anyone offer assistance?
Miskien ry jy all die hele tyd in doe verkeerde zones.

  5. Too light or Too tight is always a problem, not only on an indoor trainer.
  6. Once again Fizik Arione or Aleante. The best for your butt, no question, but beware the cost. 7. I can say that I prefer a HT, and cannot feel that it has reduced my speed downhill at all. in fact I feel I can go faster DH on a HT. I can feel what the bike is doing. Re weight - go HT with ceramic V brakes. superlight and just as good as Disk. The only advantage I see Disks having over V, is that they are lighter to use and the risk of tendonitice is eliminated.
  8. Fizik Gobi is the one to get. Miles and Miles of smiles.
  9. I have just finished the Epic and as 1st time user of a hydration pack I did not know if this was the thing for me, so I went for an economical option. the Kway R 160.00 without Bladder Holds 2L and all my tools and spares, rainjacket etc. and a large-ish GPS transmitter. Check it out on the cape union mart website. Very good value.uploads/Dick/images/2006-05-05_131524_display_image.jpg
  10. Santa Cruz, Specialized or go Hardtail. better Bling for your bucks and not a bad ride if set up properly. Price per kilo is always going to be an issue. Remember no matter what you ride, a few good muddy rides and you are in for serious costs in parts replacements. Keep money in the bag for these!!
  11. Thanks Guys, all I can say is that I am now totally confused. It appears as if I am so far off the mark in all respects. I think i should take up Carboloading professionally. That is the simple carbohidrates, the ones in little green and brown bottles.
  12. As Marius indicated, check your personal settings. If you are using the fitness test regulary this automatically changes your VO2Max, which will also change your KCal rate. I think temp etc also place a part but I am not sure.
  13. My 2c's, get comfortable on the bike and then go ridung with some ppl that have been riding for some time. get them to check your position on the bike out and make recomendations. This works the best. Even with a pro setup, you still have to end up fine tuning things for yourself because all the sientific setups make use of averages to get to your setpoint. Good luck.
  14. Fairways the problem arises if your posterior is slightly fuller than the sping hairs. I have tried Chamios cream but ut just seems to make a mess and not work. so my sugestion is deal with the sore arse when it happens. Fullers earth also works for treating the after effects. No pain at all.
  15. Read your fine print. If the battery is not changed by an Aut. dealer/dist. warranty void if water damadged!!
