  1. If you are old enough you will remember that no one cared about BPA in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's ... and we are still here
  2. I have seen that since Chainreaction have updated their website that any orders for South Africa are listed in US dollars. It would be fine if it was the exchange rate between the pound and dollar but it is not. For example, a bike repair stand is listed on the UK site at 72 pounds (R1700) but on the South African site at 141US$ (R2670) I have emailed chain reaction but basically the response is tough luck. This really makes chainreaction no longer viable for ordering from SA
  3. I dont think its Shimano blocking us, it our local agents
  4. Experience is gained about 2 seconds after you need it
  5. Fork crown does not look Alpina and neither the seat stays. The name ALPINA was engraved at the top of the seat stay
  6. If your are in Cape Town I can assist
  7. I ride the trails in Cape Town some of which have some nasty rock sections, I weigh 110kg and run the rear at 2 bar. Never had a pinch flat yet
  8. I must say there are some tiny flying creatures in Cape Town that if they end up in your eye they burn like blazes and you cant stop fast enough to get them out.
  9. This sounds strange, Park Tools chain breakers can be used for all chains, in fact they only have one size replacement pin driver
  10. You can use them in brick but they need to be super hard. I know rawl bolt themselves say that their product can be used in anything but on a course with fischer fixings they said a nylon anchor with a coach screw is better
  11. Just by the way you should never use rawl bolts in brickwork, the compressive strength of the bricks is not high enough. It is better to use nylon plugs and coach screws
  12. It looks like grass is slowly taking over the R27 cycle lanes. The grass occasionally gets cut next to the cycle lanes but no attempt is made to stop the grass growing through the tar. All it would take is some herbicide sprayed
  13. Got one of these, works like a champ https://www.adendorff.co.za/product/gurtech-lubrication-injection-gun/
  14. Can vouch for Enduro Seal, been using it for a few years and even dubbelkie thorns are no match. It doesnt form clumps either
  15. Depends on the temperature too. More often in Summer
  16. I would check because on the side of the screwdriver is printed PH 2x50. PH refers to Philips not JIS Keep your eyes open at flea markets and second hand stores for Honda or Yamaha screwdrivers because these are normally JIS And dont bother asking at a Toyota dealership, even the head mechanic will give you a blank look. Even though every flipping screw on a toyota is JIS
  17. "Always keep eyes on the aggressors at all times." This makes a difference
  18. Ive used the stream version on a few dogs trying to get a piece of me and had no issue with blowback. It takes a few seconds for the dog to realize that something is amiss
  19. Most Japanese cars, bikes and Shimano. If the screw head has a dot alongside the cross it is JIS
  20. Another essential tool for Japanese motorbikes, bikes and cars is a JIS screwdriver. Worthwhile googling. They are difficult to come by though
