1. Hey Bikemax! smileys/smiley7.gif I take offense in the suggestion that Worcester is "on the otherside of the world". smileys/smiley19.gif Just because of that' date=' I won't tell everybody how nice your online training system really is....[img']smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]
2. Hope Pedal will forgive me, for not coming out from Worcester again, but you never know...... we might just come surprise you.....
3. And yes, its not reserved for lisenced riders only! smileys/smiley2.gif Anybody that knws they are capable of doing the distances as suggested, is more than welcome. The more the merrier.
4. smileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif Ja, but do you think the "Capies" will drive through the "boerewors curtain" for a change of scenery....
5. Ok Guys & girls. After having to work through most of the Easter long weekend, I?m keen for a nice long weekend of cycling with the next long weekend coming up at the end of April. So anybody in the Western Cape looking for a change of scenery is very welcome to come join me and CvanC, plus hopefully a few other WW members and a few visitors for a few of our favourite rides around the beautiful area we live in. This is only a suggestion of a program for the long weekend, I'm open to other ideas. I must also add, I'm keen for some really nice long LSD rides for the majority of the time. Of course, those that would like to ride harder, can hammer it on the climbs, and then can turn around and come fetch me again along the way.... smileys/smiley36.gif Proposed program: <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Thursday 27 Apr: Worcester ? De Doorns, easy pace, then do a full on 20km TT around the De Doorns area. After TT do another 3-4hours steady paced effort to the top of Hexriver pas & back to Worcester (120km) Friday 28 Apr: Mitchellspass ? Ceres ? Swaarmoed ? Theronpass & back (anything from 100 to how ever far we?d like depending on where we turn around) LSD training. Saturday 29 Apr: Worcester - Villiersdorp ? Franschhoekpass ? Paarl ? Du Toitskloof ? Worcester (180km) LSD again.... Sunday 30 Apr: Worcester ? Du toitskloof ? Bainskloof ? Slanghoek - Worcester (170km) Some hard intervals along the way, or nice hard group session? Monday 1 May: Bonnievale ? Swellendam ? Barrydale ? Montagu (140km) Last 140km of Double Century route. Another nice easy cruise to finish of a good weekend. Anybody interested, please feel free to join us, of course you're also welcome to come join us for only one or two of the days, no need to do all of it. WorcesterWheelers38825.7001851852
6. It probably depends on the rest of the components, like wheels, seat, seat post, handlebar and whether its the full 105 groupset including cranks or come other crankset like perhaps a carbon crankset (which could also explain the RC6000 being lighter)
7. [quote name=Christie Interesting info Worchester. Where did it come from? I think of the current frames' date=' The BMC SLC would compare well with the Cervelo R3 as far as BB stifness goes. I would guess the integrated seatpost Giant won't be much more stiff than the previous one. Lateral stiffness is very dependant on down tube, bottom part of the seat tube and chainstay design, and their interface at the bb. My opinion on the Cervelo's: Great to see a new company making waves in the bike business. The R3 is not a pretty frame imo. The square down tube, oversize chain stays and tiny seat stays borders on ugly! I prefer the looks of the Soloist carbon. The Giant frame is a beaty, and the integrated seat tube looks very nice. The LBS said that they can't get Cervelo frames, there is some problem getting stock. So if are set on getting one, perhaps you'll need some patience?
Info came from a Cervelo newsletter, they were running a competion to win a R3 frame. But the stats, testing is from some other Bike mag that did all the independant testing. Ja, must agree, on looks the Giant wins hands down, altough I think the tiny seatstays on the R3 looks cool. I also don't like all the Red on the Cervelo. Now if only they bring it out in the Blue version like they did with the R2.5 Bayone... But I'm in no rush, like I mentioned earlear. Before I can justify a new frame, I have to get my @ss into shape. Guess its time to call in CvanC's help. He apparently know the secret to success......smileys/smiley2.gif
8. Ja, solank dit die GP Attack / force of die nuwe GP4000's is. Enige lekker ligte opvoubare "racing" tyre.
9. Another exceptionally lightweight wheel option for someone so light would be the Rolf Prima elan's, probably the lightest commercially available clinchers around. Very light, not a stiff as the Vigors, but certainly a lot more managable in the wind if you struggle on the flats. My best advice would be to ask the ladies on this site for comments feedback, as wheels that would be great for me or Fatty, would certainly not get the same response from a girl weighing 50 odd kg's.
10. Al rede hoekom ek nog nie die Giant of die R3 gekoop het nie, is omdat ek self ook eers nog 5kg kan afskud op my eie "frame", maar AI! eet is darem net te lekker smileys/smiley19.gif
11. What size BMC? There's a guy in Cape Town, that's been desperate to sell his since winning it in last years TdF competition. I think it's a size 56, and he's come down to about R30,000 with Mavic Ksyrium SL's and Campy Record.
12. A lot of us want to see CVanc in action in a TT and your course is quite unique. Imagine having 20 something km's out and back without having to cross or stop for traffic once! Dont forget to mention that its actually on the N1 for 75% of the route. smileys/smiley4.gif Really a nice route for a TT, not entirely flat, but also no steap long climbs, basically a really nice 20.7km TT route. Highly recommended.
13. And what if I buy the matching P3.... smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
14. Lateral Bending Stiffness & STW (higher is better): Frame<?:namespace prefix = o /> Material Size Weight Stiffness STW Cerv?lo R3 Carbon 56 2.02 238.90 118.3 Scott CR1 Carbon 56 2.14 183.70 85.8 Giant TCR Advanced Carbon L 2.28 145.70 63.9 La <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Pierre 999 X-Lite Carbon M 2.50 149.70 59.9 Cannondale Al CAAD9 Aluminum 56 3.03 180.70 59.6 Specialized S-Works Tarmac Carbon 56 2.43 135.60 55.8 Trek OCLV (1999) Carbon 56 2.14 118.00 55.1 ISAAC Carbon 55.5 2.46 132.70 53.9 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 56 2.67 136.00 50.9 Litespeed Ghisallo Titanium M 1.71 81.40 47.6 Schwinn Al Fastback (2001) Aluminum L 3.13 134.00 42.8 Schwinn Circuit 853 (1999) Steel 56 4.10 111.50 27.2 Mondonico Nemo (2005) Steel 57 4.50 114.70 25.5 Just note, the Giant tested is the normal one, not the ISP (integrated seat post). But from these stats, the P3 wins hands down. smileys/smiley32.gifsmileys/smiley32.gif
15. For me it would be a close tie between the Giant (but the ISP version) and the R3, also very similar in price. For the Cervelo why not phone Richard Beswick direct, he's the Cervelo local agent. 011 7837530, or 0861 cervelo, richard@cervelo.co.za The R3 has some very impressive stats on stiffness to weight ratios!
16. For those doing the Bre?rivier mtb challenge on Saturday, so the post for details of another fun & relaxed mtb cruise the following day leaving from Worcester....
17. Or in a size Medium and send it to Worcester smileys/smiley36.gif But seriously, I'm also keen on an upgrade soon. And everybody has only got rave things to say about the new Giant with the integrated seatpost. According to David George this is the best frame he's ever ridden. If you don't like the T-mobile colours, its also available in a less bold option. BTW who gave you that prise for the Giant, cause I'm also shopping around? Another option would also be the very nice new Cervelo R3....
18. Anyone interested can PM me, I have a couple of nice indoor sessions that break down the 60mins into smaller managable chunks. Just remember to include your e-mail address so I can forward you the file. Makes it ALMOST possible to enjoy it. smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
19. Same here, though fortunately for me, it was only during a training ride while practising sprints. Come on you "wrencher's" outthere, what causes this to happen, and how do we fix it. Or better yet, how do you prevent it? smileys/smiley7.gif
20. IMHO.... If your ever in the fortunate position to start upgrading your bike, this should be the very first place you should look to upgrade. A great set of wheels will reduce your rolling resistance by quite a lot. N.B. Please note, its pointless to buy yourself a decent set of racing wheels, and then skimp on the tyres and tubes. So when you get the wheels, splash out and buy a decent set of foldable racing tyres to go along with them. Trust me, that too makes a huge difference.
