  1. CvanC is one of the coaches at Bikemax, and I've been very happy with their programs. Especially since changing to the online system, where you can download and send them all your training data from where ever you are.
  2. So who's the Cape Town version of the bike setup Guru? (sorry Cycle Fit, Joburgs at bit too far...) If been having a bit of problems lately with cramps and playing around with my setup. Also just purchased a TT bike (thanks 101%) smileys/smiley36.gif, and would like to get all my setups checked and adjusted for best results.
  3. And a nicer picture of Dave Zabrisky, in what must be one of the better looking TT positions around.
  4. uploads/WorcesterWheelers/images/2006-07-11_161249_GiantTTbikesideon_sml.jpg For the Giant fans uitthere. smileys/smiley36.gif
  5. As mentioned earlier, buy whatever fits. If money is an object, then also bear in mind the various helmet company's crash / damage replacement policy's. While I'm very happy and impressed with my Giro Atmos, the best replacement policy on offer has to be from Bell. All you have to do, is hand in your damaged helmet, write an accident report and you get a new one FOR FREE! (If I remeber correctly the Giro policy is 25% discount on the replacement?)
  6. Bora's, no contest! Rode a set of Zipps before smashing them in an accident. Had them replaced with a set of Bora's. Unbelievably nice. Campy recently upgraded the Bora's with ceramic bearings, now called Bora Ultra's. So shop around for the previous edition, shops will be keen to get rid of them at a bit more affordable price.
  7. True, but if you go to a decent L.B.S. that can help you with your setup, you can also play around with adjusting a few things before you settle for a specific setup. While I'm sure they will be willing to chop and change parts if you buy a complete new bike from them, I'm also sure they will be even more keen to play around with helping you find your ideal setup and swop components as need be. By certainly would be a good place to start, there is also a good online fitment aid at www.competitivecyclist.com see at the bottom of the page for their fit calculator.
  8. Go to any decent bike shop' date=' where you can get a Bioracer setup or something similar, or go talk to any of the local pro's you might know that can give you some sound advice. Or get your new coach (free or not) [img']smileys/smiley36.gif[/img], to also help you with bike setup while he helps you to get the best out of your new SRM Powercranks.
  9. Looking at the amount of stearer tube sticking out above your headset, my first comment on that picture would be to get yourself properly fitted before you buy any new frame...... Personally not fond of the BMC, put thats just personal choice. The best option would be to get yourself profesionally measured, and then take into account which frame geometry suits your build and riding style the best. And then you'll already have wittled down the options to fewer frames. Keep up posted though. So what do you think of the Bora's? I'm HUGELY impressed with mine! smileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley32.gif
  10. Sounds like you can pretty much afford any frame you'd like with that BMC frame and a set of Bora's..... smileys/smiley36.gif Yeash' date=' wish I could go shopping with that insurance claim....[img']smileys/smiley17.gif[/img] Me, personally, I would go for the new Cervelo R3. I would just prefer to have it in something other than the red colour option. Of course if you'd like to be VERY exclusive you can always go for one of those bamboo frames they featured in one of the local bike mags recently.
  11. Hi Guys & girls. If anybody is still interested in joining us, please feel free to do so. And YES, we have a few "non racing" members also joining us for some of the days. So there will certainly be two groups on most days. A fast one, and a more moderately paced one. So the only prerequisite is that you must at least be capable of doing the distances. I'll be off line pretty soon for the duration of the long weekend, so anybody thats keen and still needs any other information, you can call of sms me at any time on: 082-4138935. Good luck to all those doing Pedals TT, and hopefully there's enough interest so "Toohot!!" can get his road race too. Caio. Oh and P.S. According to the weather SA forecast, were going to have AWESOME weather for the next few days, expected highs for the Worcester area of around 30 every day YIPPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!smileys/smiley4.gif
  12. I would never put my bike in a cardbord box again. smileys/smiley7.gif Just too big a risk if your box lands up at the bottom of the cargo hold with XXX tons of others peoples luggage on top of your $$$$$ bike.... I'm getting myself a box from www.gearup.co.za, at R2,500 and you can pic and choose your colours. Oh, and of course Bike thingy is going to help me pay it off by using it in December........smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
  13. Thanx "Coach" smileys/smiley36.gif
  14. Hey Droster, I'm pretty sure we can addapt the program for "KAMP STAALWIEL" to join you guys somewhere along your trip.... Any suggestions?
  15. Good idea Cool hand. Ok, free red wine and cigars, (but no whining about headaches the next day's ride!) plus accommodation if you're willing to sleep on the couch...
  16. They all got got a special invitation via e-mail. OOPS just remembers I forgot one of them..... Check your inbox!
  17. Ag Bike-thingy, I'm sure you can blame the puncture for me beating you on the mtb.....smileys/smiley36.gif As for some of our rides, you can always come find us somewhere along the route when we do the Villiersdorp - Franchhoek - Paarl ride, or perhaps the Dutoitskloof - Bainskloof ride????
  18. smileys/smiley19.gif Sorry CvanC, looks like we'll be outthere on our own....
  19. See the other post about indoor training else where on thehub..... Quite a bit of info there....smileys/smiley2.gif
  20. Hi Lancelot. Any news on your new "steed" P.S. for the rest of the hubbers' date=' he's getting a new Cervelo R3!! I'm SOO jealous!!!!! [img']smileys/smiley11.gif[/img] As for Worcester being on the other side of the tunnel, yes. But we always refer to the Tunnel as the "Boerewors curtain", but it seems to some people it actually starts somewhere around the outshirts of the Northern Suburbs. Admin / fellow hubbers, sorry for going a bit off topic..... smileys/smiley36.gif
  21. Ag come on! Surely you can come out for a day or two? You and CvanC can chase each other on the climbs...... smileys/smiley36.gif
  22. I would be very happy to do this - I have plenty of very good informative articles that I am happy to provide. I have been discussing the possibility of a power based training forum with admin as I feel their is a real demand for it. I would be happy to moderate it and help where necessary. Please let him know if you would support something like this. Peter I would certainly welcome and support such an initiative. I've only recently acquired a Powertap, and in the process of switching from a HR based program to a Power based one. And would certainly appreciate all the help and information I can get hold of.
