  1. I still have a few left at old price of R199, not sure what they will be going for now with all the price hikes..... Kenda Kaliente are another nice light weight tyre that seems quite puncture resistant. My all time favourite racing clincher still has to be the Vittoria Open Corsa CX Pro, but they just HATE glass!! (so not a good idea on our glass ridden roads after Friday/Saturday night festivities).
  2. IMHO by far the best performing value for money tyres are the Maxxis Zenith foldables. You get excellent performance, good milage and good puncture protection too. And a lot more affordable than even Gatorskins.
  3. Guess I'll now have to send my mechanics on an electronics course.....
  4. Or, like so many others have mentioned.... 1. 1st of all, get a lighter set of wheels (Good option will be ZTR rims with AM classic hubs) 2. KCNC - Stem, h/bar, seatpost & bar ends 3. Lighter tyresWorcesterWheelers2008-07-31 09:10:13
  5. Trade the bike in for one of these.......
  6. Perhaps MdK should offer Sastre a ride on the 555EXPRESS, and put Cancellara on the front of the tandem....... Who's laughing now!!? ALL of us already riding Q-rings...... (my above comment was tounge in cheak referring to the debate surrounding tandems.....) So it looks like q-rings not only work on tandems, but also on climbing and during TT's.... For the record: I have Q-rings on my tandem, my TT bike, and as soon as I'm back in shape and able to ride the bigger 41T inner Campy chainring on my road bike, will put them back on the road bike too. (Due to the BCD of Campy cranksets, the inner chainring is a bit bigger at 41T ave.)
  7. Perhaps MdK should offer Sastre a ride on the 555EXPRESS, and put Cancellara on the front of the tandem.......
  8. AND it even matches your couch in the background....
  9. Seeing as you're going to Pretoria, perhaps you all can go visit Krrr, and collect my donation to this cause directly.....
  10. My "un"-educated guess would be the fact that you will never find two people with exactly the same pedaling style, so the Q-rings might contribute to evening out the combined pedaling stroke. Any chance the clever guys at Rhodes would be able to do some testing with two tandems too. One with Q-rings & one without?
  11. I can certainly also recommend Q-rings, especially on the tandem.
  12. Blame it on the fact that I'm more of a "roadie".....
  13. Thanks Racer X. Will give those Furious Freds a try..... And will also give you a detailed report on the performance of the Spinner fork.... after taking it for a spin over this coming weekend.
  14. Great. See you on Friday.
  15. HEY!! Back off..... I'm taking it for a "Spin" 1st.....
  16. What tires would you recommend? Would rather play it safe, as its pointless having superlight tyres but loose 10min by fixing punctures.... Got PLENTY other ideas too: -SLR saddle (-100g) -Merida rigid carbon fork (-900g) (1550-650) (for non technical races like Hell & Back...) -Ti skewers (-60g) -4Ti Eggbeater pedals (only once I get below 80kg myself) (-90g) So could even get in under 8kg to rival the Merida Target 8....
  17. Where can I get more info on this fork? Don't think I can wait till you bring me my test sample.....
  18. You do that. And dont forget a nice light-weight mtb wheelset....... But since the "jockey" on the bike need to loose almost the same amount of weight that the new Schwinn, I'd need to loose plenty of weight before there will be any further "weight weenie" upgrades.....
  19. Was great!! One unbelievably nice route! Did the mtb race at Wolseley. Did the 65km route, with some long tough climbs, and some really rocky sections, sand, water, bit of everything. And the bike handled it all beautifully. Its definately a harder (read stiffer) ride than my previous frame (Merida FLX team edition), so I'd probably ride a little lower tyre pressure, and still need to find the right settings for the FOX fork, but overall, very chuffed. And to top it all, Johnny Kritzinger won the race on the same frame....WorcesterWheelers2008-07-19 13:05:59
  20. And also bear in mind: No stupidly light & thin latex tubes and skinny side walled tyres..... Stans Tubeless kit with new Maxxis Monorail LUST tyres included.
  21. I'll add this once I've lost 5kg's.... And perhaps these when I reach my racing weight of 76-77 again (hopefully before the 2009 Epic...)
