  1. Holdfast makes a very nice AND affordable "BOOT RACK" R.R.P is R660. (hubbers get discount at ManiC Cycles...) They are completely adjustable and fit any hatch back, sedan or even "kombi". and no need for any towbar or other mounting. Ask Fatty & Chillie, we used one to transport two tandems recently when we went up to THE FAST ONE. I've practically moved all my bicylce stock for the new shop with one. (Nope, can't afford a Vito yet, its a new business...)
  3. My two recommendations: 1. MERIDA SCULTERA FLX 907-COM (R20,999) Full carbon monoque frame, and full carbon fork. Ultegra with FSA carbon cranks and Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheelset. PLUS, It's a beautiful looking bike!!! 2. SCHWINN PELOTON PRO (R15,995) Full carbon frame and fork. Ultegra gropset, with Truvativ Carbon cranks, and Mavic Askium wheels Frame is nice looking blue and touch of orange (will go very nicely with WW club kit....) WorcesterWheelers2007-02-26 03:22:18
  4. And there I was preparing myself for some sort of article proving the Q-rings as hogwash..... Guess bikemax is not so biast as they all say.... Q-rings AND a SRM, no PT in sight... Seriously, Bikemax. I'm willing to be your quinnee pig. What test protocol do you want me to do on the bike to see if I can find any difference between Q-rings and normal rings?
  5. Can't wait for my TT set, hopefully they will be here before the Argus, so I can use them in the Argus to kick Bikemax's butt on the tandem.... P.S. Bikemax, started using the Q-rings on 31st January. As you will notice from my data files, have not done the greatest ever volume or intensity of training in the few weeks prior or after above date.
  6. Also available for standard mtb cranksets, at R1,700 a set, or as promised, 10% discount to all hubbers till end of Feb from ManiC Cycles. So that's R1,530 for a set.
  7. Hey Bikemax. You've got all my PT data, go have a look at the last few weeks files, and let me know if you can notice any difference in the stats over the last few weeks, since using the Q-rings. Sorry guys. Noticed quite a few questions, will answer them in the morning. In the mean time, any body interested in placing a special hubbers order, pm or e-mail me: francois@maniccycles.co.za They are avaialble in road, TT and mtb, Shimano and Campy and XTR compatable. Basic road retails for R1,500, mtb for R1,700, XTR and TT cranks are R1,950. I'm willing to offer a 10% discount to all hubbers placing orders before end of Feb. (You need to at least ride them a few weeks prior to Argus or the Epic) According to the local agent, Ivan, they offer a 30day money back guarantee, and as yet, not one set had been returned. The list of riders endorsing these q-rings is quite impressive. Cheers. WW
  8. By all accounts a really well organised event. Have had very little negative feedback. Perhaps more Vets would have ridden if you only needed to take off Friday afternoon. I think that you should include the Vets, but like this year, make them race with the elite's, just perhaps a little separate prize money, BUT only if there are enough vets entered to justify the extra prize money. So if you want to beat the rest of the Vets, you must be able to hang on with the top Elites, or get into a break with them. And i can already hear some grumbles about Vets helping to chase down breaks, well that would be great for the overall racing. more riders, more teams, more competition, hopefully helping to improve the standard of racing in the Western Cape. The only complaint I heard (and it was mostly tongue in cheek, was that they should have advertised the Saturday afternoon kermesse for non tour riders a bit better, the turnout in that event was unfortunately very poor). The biggest highlight for me, is that hopefully we have finally put to rest the stigma around prize money and the "TOUR DE BOLAND". According to Chris Willemse, prize money was proptly handed over after every stage. And here's my suggestion for a nice Giro preparation stage. How about a stage from Wellington, over Bainskloof, then past the Calabash bush pub, right onto the Wolseley / Worcester road (sorry can't recall the R??ame), then right into Slanghoek, towards Rawsonville and then over du Toitskloof, finishing somewhere in Paarl, even if its at the bottom of Du Toitskloof to avoid any disruption to traffic. (the rest of the route has little traffic, apart from the piece on the R??, but that's only a few km's, and then the section on the N1 till you take the old pass) Just a thaught, use it.. don't use it...
  9. Thanks to Fatty, and due to the misfortune of CVANC (who had a cashfloe problem), I managed to get my hands on a set of Q-rings. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, the are oval shaped chainrings, which are designed to help making you pedal stroke more effecient. Well I was so impressed by them from the very fisrt ride, I'm proud to say that MANIC CYCLES is now a stockist of these chainrings. I've noticed a obvious difference in the Powertap data. Now I just need to regain my fitness so I can really put them to good use. I'd like to also hear from Fatty if he is similarly impressed? According to Ivan, the local distributor, they give a 30-day money back gaurantee, (you can use the rings for 30days, and if you're not happy you can hand then back). He recons he still has not received any sets back..... My first customer fitted his on Friday, and Saturday morning he walked into the shop with the biggest smile I am yet to receive from a customer.
  10. Havent read or seen any test figures on the new Scott addict, But by all accounts the CR1 was quite stiif, so I guess the Addict will be better?
  11. Depends on what Scott you are comparing it, surely it cant be lighter than the new Scott Addict? 785g for the frame....
  12. Just a reminder. Still got a brand new Dura Ace groupset for sale, Choice of DA crankset, or Truvativ Noir carbon crankset. R13,000 O.N.C.O. Will also sweeten the deal by offering a set of Q-rings instead of the DA chainring set. (Have recently fitted a set of Q-rings to my bike - thanks Fatty!!, and they certainly make a difference, especially when looking at my PT data). Have been so impressed by them, that I'm proud to say that Q-rings no also have a distributor of their product in the Boland... this side of the "Boerewors curtain".
  13. Baie geluk Latrinus.
  14. There must be a sindicate or something in the Somerset West area, because I recall a few of our clubmembers had the same thing happen to them at last years Lourensford mtb ride. Please make sure you stop any stolen credit cards immediatly, as they use these to shop as soon as they get their thieving hands on them! good luck in replacing all your lost cards etc.
  15. Myself, girlfrien & Fatty (or "Grootseun") have flown up for THE FAST ONE, and were keen to get involved with this ride then too. What we experienced this morning, has already made the trip worthwile for me, regardless of how tomorrows tandem ride goes. On behalf of us few "Capies" well done to ALL. (Organisers, marshalls, motorised backup, traffic and of course all the riders who participated) Lets hope there will be a good spinn of from this wonderfull effort. Regards "Worcester Wheelers" P.S. Somebody PLEASE post us a few nice pictures
  16. I'll be in front of most of you..... # Racing tandems - 6h25 So to all of you in A and VA, please help push up the hills, we promise to help again on the flats and Decends, especially all the way to the finish after Suikerbossie.... But hopefully we'll not get caught by any of the groups, just need to get over Wynberg hill with the front tandems....
  17. While fitness and training methods certainly plays the biggest role in cramping, your regular diet also certainly plays a role. If you dont get in your daily share of the right vitamins and minarals that would also contribute to cramping, especially during the hot summer months when you are more prone to dehydration. If you want to try a affordable suppliment, I can highly recommend ENDUREN Sports salts. It retails for only R75, for 300 tablets and you only use three at a time, before, during or after rides. (It contains Magnesium, calcium, sodium, potassium and Iron phosphate). I have a number of VERY satisfied customers that have had problems with cramping. Since using this product, they have resolved the problem. Regards Francois
  18. What's the price on the lightweights? It looks very nice and I see Zabel is riding with a pair of lightweights. I have done a TT against a person who was riding a set of ligtweights' date=' I was riding normal wielletjies - didn't help the pore bloke much. [/quote'] Yes, but that was probably because he was carrying two full water bottles and you had none, you bloody "camel"... saving probably 1.5kg in weight. (Romour has it that CVANC only used one water bottle for the entire DC this year?)
  19. Get to the back of the queue. So who's the local agent for these VERY exclusive wheels? Or is that privelaged information, Bruce?
  20. I don't think so. But the new Time RXS/RXE cleats are compatable with the old Time Impact pedals.
