  1. You obviously haven't tried dealing with ABSA... Been trying to sort out a mess up of theirs for 15 months now! Waiting for the ombudsman to sort it out now...
  2. Post more details of the bike, size, colour and any distinguishing features so we can keep an eye out for it... people only steal these bikes coz there are others willing to buy them off the thief who generally end up trying to pawn them off for a profit themselves so they do tend to turn up if enough ppl are looking.
  3. I don't know if they've fixed it in the last year or 2, but Dell batteries are the ultimate c%^ (and that's based on an extremely big office all using them!)... the batteries last a few months if you're lucky (this is on the old D620 and D630 ranges, haven't had the new ones for long enough to judge). I have an Acer for personal use and know a few other ppl with them and they have been absolutely awesome (never needed to test their backup service so can't comment on that). 3 Year's old and the battery still lasts for over 2 hours (compared to less than 2 minutes on my 2 year old Dell!).
  4. No prob, will keep you updated...
  5. Are you looking for the integrated bars like in the pic or just the carbon handlebar? Integrated bar is approx. R2,300 and a standard carbon bar is between R1,300 and R1,500 depending on the model (weights range from 195g to 230g).
  6. I suppose I could live with a 100mm for myself rather than the 110 I was going to use... PM me if you're interested in it (still brand new, haven't had my bike built up yet!)
  7. Anyone for a stem??
  8. Not to hijack your post, but does anyone know the approximate cost of the adapters? In the same position with centre lock wheels (but I already have 6 bolt discs).
  9. The stems are 6 degree, but only have 100mm left (3 of them)... There is a website, but they have changed the looks of everything so it's a bit irrelevant unfortunately... If there's anything you want, just ask and I'll try my best to organise an accurate pic of it... they have pretty much every carbon bike part you could want (including cranksets, but I haven't really thought of importing those coz they are a little expensive, would retail for about R4k.). There are also 85mm carbon wheels, 48g alloy bar-ends and lots more...shaun2312009-12-31 07:08:58
  10. The wheels that are in the picture in 50mm clincher with skewers and brake blocks for R8,150 or 38mm for R8,050 (only have 1 set of each in Campy and 1 each in Shimano). Tubbies are R6,850 and R6,450 respectively (also 1 set of each available in Shimano and Campy). I also have branded double wheel bags for R300. They all are built with bladed spokes which I also have if you need spares at R2 per spoke.
  11. Only have the wheels and stems available for sale at the moment, but will hopefully be placing a bigger order in january where I can get a big range of parts at great prices... frames/wheels/stems/handlebars/seatposts/bottle cages etc... or complete bikes as mentioned built as you want. All parts are carbon, very light weight and have a 2 year guarantee... I will be riding it all myself from next week so if anything isn't up to scratch once I've tried it out, I won't sell it.
  12. Unfortunately only got 100 and 110mm stems now (100mm is claimed to be 95g - comes in under 100g on my kitchen scale, but don't know how accurate that is). Selling them for R300 each - 4 bolt front plate so it isn't only built for weight! Only 4 stems left, sold 2 yesterday to friends and keeping 1 for myself. This frame will stay naked for now, might swap for a branded frame when I get some of them though, the painted ones look awesome. Will definitely change the MTB frame for branded, still deciding on the road frame... road frame 900g, MTB frame 1.25kg.
  13. Oh, and most importantly! All with 2 year warranties!
  14. Those saddles look awesome, i'd have to say the black for me though... The price tag doesn't help though, might just have to wait a little while for one of those! The wheels are Edge full carbon clinchers. Actually everything on it is Edge. Imported a bunch of their stuff to try out and looks awesome. Got unbranded frames for various reasons, but also got wheels (MTB and road), seatposts, stems, handlebars etc. If anyone is looking for parts that are good quality and a great price, PM me for prices. Going to hopefully be placing another order in the next few weeks, but have a few things available now [road wheels (tubbies and clinchers) and 95g alu. stems]. Can also get great deals on complete SRAM equipped bikes with either SRAM or Edge wheelsets (will be painted frames though, not like my toys).
  15. So, after a long wait, the truck arrived at my door yesterday bringing the new toys... Still to receive Chorus 11 speed groupset (soon to change to SRAM red hopefully - just for fun!). The mismatched wheels will be changed (one is 38mm, one is 50mm). black carbon cages. Black SLR for now (still deciding on what saddle I like). and then, who knows... The MTB parts are also here, but going to be built with a mix of parts for now and probably go for X0/Noir/Elixir CR with Sid race when I get the SRAM red (Hopefully Jan or Feb)...
  16. Another problem with riding 2 abreast is the danger it places a faster cyclist in when he passes you (it's not only about your safety), and after a hard ride when you're tired and hot, sometimes a few choice words are the easiest way of dealing with things (just ask the owner of the dog that bit me while cycling on table mountain on thursday!). Definitely wouldn't slow down to discuss it with you when in the middle of a training ride. And no I am not saying swearing is the best thing to do, but we've all done it at some stage when only given a few seconds to decide how to react...
  17. I've tried looking through CRC's listings to get a better idea of what socket's to buy, but they don't specify what cassette they're for... I have Shimano on my mtb, campy on my road bike and probably changing both the SRAM in the near future, does this mean I need 3 or 4 different tools or is there a universal one available?
  18. I see Pinarello is quite popular... Only buy one if they have extended their warranty over 2 years finally or if you have money to burn (I say this from past experience and will never waste my money on another one!) Beautiful frames, but zero after sales service when I had one... I'm a Specialized man for life - not the most flashy bikes, but seem to be a very good balance of quality, weight and after sales service (from what I've heard - mine's 3 years old and still going strong).
  19. To be honest, a 2nd hand bike for R10k should have a better fork than a Recon, and as mentioned above, the wheels/saddle/handlebars etc. can make a huge difference to the value of the bike... the new bike will probably be more reliable and cost less initially to maintain, but the used bike should be a better spec (if it isn't then don't pay R10k for it!). It depends on what you're looking to use it for, if it's just for fun I'd say buy the new bike as you then know exactly how it's been maintained. If you're looking to race then used might be better for the higher spec... And about that LA story, can someone please tell me how much it would cost to ride the same bike he rides and at the same time say it's not about the bike! The bike makes a big difference (I mean in terms of comparing a R10k bike to a R30k bike, not so much for only slightly better bikes - it's all about getting the balance across all the components).
  20. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are all 9 speed chains compatible with Shimano and SRAM (i.e. can i run a SRAM chain on an XT group?). Following from this, can you use the powerlink with a Shimano chain? If so, how much do they cost locally? I have a tendency to break chains regularly (or so it seems) so this sounds like it could be the fix I need... I know you theoretically shouldn't brake chains if changing gears correctly, but the last time was after 2km of very steep, slow spinning without a single gear change (just putting that out there before I get told off for breaking my chain!)
  21. I'll work with my 15.4%, i'll accept the 0.25% variance on my orders! It's actually normally more because SARS uses their own special exchange rates when it arrives to calculate VAT which always seem to be considerably higher than any quoted rate...
  22. I think there is about 100 threads about it... search for import and there should be a few that come up with it. Basically VAT only on parts (no duties), duties and VAT on clothing and complete bikes. Calculate VAT @ 15.4% thought, not 14%...
  23. I think auctioning it would be a brilliant idea... that way you get something back for helping every1 out! Sounds like you deserve it... For everyone getting their bikes back, remember if you filed a report with the police, the bike belongs to them, not you. So make sure you contact them and check what they require you to do before just taking it back... Also make sure the police know about this happening, maybe they can catch the guys at the border at some stage (haven't been there myself so don't know what the border is like or if this would be possible).
  24. BTW, good luck with getting your bike back... Seems like more and more stolen bikes are being recovered these days so don't give up on it.
