Thanks for the heads up guys!
It will be on gravel bikes, as we'll be tackling gravel and roads.
@mazambaan need to buy an enduro bike (my next n + 1), as the guys from Detour mainly do natural, offroad trails around Afriski.
I'll keep you guys posted once completed
Hi Nico
Did you do the trip? What was the roads like? Any suggestions or tips?
I am looking to do a supported ride through Lesotho, leaving from Fouriesburg, first night will be at Katse Dam, and then second night passed Afriski at Oxbow. So will be 3 days of riding, approx 290kms with 8000m of climbing.
Some thoughts and other pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Are there any pics available? Where can we find them?
First gravel race as have recently bought a gravel bike. Some proper racing, beautiful part of the far west rand on routes I've never done before.
Well organised and attended, thoroughly enjoyable morning out!
So sad! Where can we ride?! 🤬
Hope everyone is ok!
I got a pair of these, and have struggled with cold fingers in winter as I have Reynaud's Syndrome (basically lack of blood circulation). These gloves work wonders for me when it's chilly.
I also wear a pair of light running gloves underneath.
Also a game changer is buying booties, I bought a pair of the Castelli ones, worth every cent.
Jen Bowes - 340 on Main 0861 340 6246 - she's an athlete (IM, Double Century as well as multiple marathons) so will give good advice if you're looking to eat right while training.
Hi guys.
My wife uses a Namola, looks like a garage remote. It has a live track feature as well as a panic button.
I get notified if she pushes it as well as an operator will call her asking if she needs assistance. If there is an issue, a notification is sent to nearby police, ambulance or security vehicles to help. It's a great added safety feature
Panda is great value, if you live in JHB go to their offices, they have a bargain bin as well as overstock. Loads of great deals at great prices
Hi Pete Dip
Have you done your bike packing tour yet?
Please give me some updates and how it went.
Thanks
Boxing Day ramble.....
Awesome vid, maybe add some music?
Ciovita or Enjoy?
Also Sako7 have some retro ones.
Hi guys.
I used a " dumb" trainer before I upgraded to a smart trainer.
Anyway, I really struggled with a set training programme while on the dum trainer and lacked motivation to dig deep during these training programmes.
I tried to watch cycling clips and some indoor studio spinning classes, however I found the best option was from a Youtube channel CTXCvideos (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPvjahSsyFcu8HG1tvqMZSA)
Like you're sitting in the brunch and then once you roll to the front your effort goes up. Great scenery too!
Used the perceived effort based on your heart rate, but generally the best tool to use for a dumb indoor trainer.
Guys, I actually can't read anymore on this thread.
The reason why: on wednesday during the last of one of my training rides, chain snapped on my mountain bike (road bike already being trucked to CT) and ended up in a heap on the ground, find out I've got 2 fractured ribs and a very badly bruised hip. Walking is a problem so definitely out for Sunday.
Some might say it's karma as it was my wife's bday and I shouldn't have ridden. Anyway still coming down, we've got a week in CT. There goes no. 12 and potentially my first sub 3...........
You guys can thank me for the perfect weather on sunday!
Enjoy and be safe out there
Hey all
Does anyone know if there is a possibility of doing a double lap. I remember previously if you started early enough you could do another entry.
If not, is there still the strict ruling of if they catch you doing a double lap, you'll get barred for 5 years or something like that?
I'm sorry to bring this issue onto the Hub but have finally loSt my rag with Biogen/Dischem.
A few days before 947 I went to Dischem Northgate to buy Biogen Nougat energy bars only to be told that all the stock had been allocated to the expo........
Ok, no probkem, I'll just buy my stock when I collect my race number, ..........only to be told at the Biogen stand, sorry, no stock, our suppliers have let us down....ok, so 2 stories here..from 2 different people, but wait, there is a 3rd story coming too.
No problem, After nobody answering at Biogen (they operate inside Dischem and they never seem to be there...)I make a noise on Hello Peter/FB.
I get a nice mail from Ashley at Biogen saying sorry, supplier out of stock, but let me send you a hamper...
Nice, thank you very much, and I received the below in an e-mail from Ashley at Biogen after I thanked her:
............"No problem at all!
We received delivery of stock last week and therefore expect stock to be back in stores towards the end of this week."
Problem! There is still no Biogen Nougat at Dischem Northgate and when I checked a while ago, not at Randridge either........
Again, nobody at Dischem answers, Ashley (if she still works there) doesn't answer my mails and a very nice lady at Dischem Head office - Genevieve I think her name was, took up my plight last Thursday, and again, NADA!
Biogen, I finally give up, I have never struggled so much to buy a product as a consumer, I will switch to USN drink and PVM bars, you have now done your best to chase opportunity down the sales office passage, RIGHT OUT OF THE DOOR!
Funny you mention this, walked into Dischem Nicolway and asked for some Biogen nougats. Also didn't have stock, bought some USN oat bars instead, problem solved
No comparison when it comes to the views. Not so much Suikerbossie, that's more to watch everyone suffering, but Chappies
Suikerbossie is a constant climb. Maybe something similar to van der Bijl Ave in Sunninghill?
I'm connecting using my laptop bluetooth enabled.
I'll turn off the bluetooth on my phone as that may be confusing the device and the laptop.
Thanks
Many time your WIFI can create issues with the ant+ signals
Hi
I have not set up my Ant+, only using bluetooth
Hi guys
Has anyone experienced "No signal" issues.
On the screen to select supporting device, Zwift recognises my Wahoo Snap 2, but there is a bold "No signal" across it.
Also on the setting page, there is no place to adjust trainer difficulty.
Are these two issues related?
Hey Stiggy, not so sure about the supportive wife, she's become bossy now... She wanted a copy of the training program and now questions "How hard the session was and did I do it properly??" everytime I get home...lol
I'm following a program and really giving it everything. As for the partners, I have running, swimming and cycling partners so, so far so good.
Happy training everyone!
Oh dear! Good luck
Also remember those brick runs after your long rides, they're the devil's spawn but build mental strength and endurance!
Is this thread quiet cause we're all training?
Hope everyone's training is going well?
Loved reading the thread from the beginning!
It's an awesome journey, and you're very lucky to have a supportive wife.
Did you manage to get a coach or are you doing it per a training programme?
I hope you have a mate to train with, those long runs on a sunday are quite tough on your own.
If anything, you'll lose that dad bod in no time when you're into the training!
Best of luck! Looking forward to following your journey
will decathlon bring their top end bikes to our shores?

On another note, has anyone bought their bibshorts? Prices seem reasonable and would like to know before I spend R1.5k on bibs.
Thanks
