For excitement, how about the Binder Boys both involved in a bit of Argy Bargy? Both Moto3 and Moto2 beat the big race for excitement.
  2. A real beaut and great project. I'm sure it would sell to someone if you wanted to sell it. Even Hairy might be tempted..
  3. HaHa. I noted that..
  4. Don't get offended. ..I'm sure he's pulling your leg. Eye of the beholder and all that... And if it works for her and she's happy and safe, what could be better?
  5. Speak for yourself... My commute is as exciting as hell. Don't you have taxis and red lights where you live?
  6. Combination of both our interests... http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2019/03/19/aleix-races-the-cape-epic-ahead-of-argentina/287013
  7. I know you (and not only you) will laugh at this but I've seen a few around and the guys swear by them: Sheepskin seat cover. Especially good for long trips although I don't know what kind of riding you do.
  8. Glad I don't live near that...
  9. Don't be put off. The new bikes may have all the farkles and padding but the basics are the same. 30 seconds and you'll be into it. And smiling from ear to ear....
  10. Fair points but perhaps it's a foray into use of a new manufacturer. Take your point about them existing to make money but to use non-functioning brakes would cause immense reputational damage and loss of future revenue. If KTM use J. Juan brakes and they are used on the SBK circuit, surely that means they are proven? Hayes too are proven. I get that you're uncomfortable with this and of course as a rider and consumer you're entitled to your preferences but I think perhaps this might be the sign of things to come and we may see Brembo being replaced on other bikes too. On the positive side, as long as performance is not compromised, surely competition is good for us? As a last point: https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2018/01/27/ktm-super-duke-now-part-huge-brembo-front-brake-recall/ https://advrider.com/f/threads/ktm-spongy-front-brakes.834784/
  11. Don't exaggerate. It's only R300K.
  12. I take your point about the hydraulic clutch but the Brembos - maybe not. Even BMW have their own branded brakes now which are made by Hayes. Users say they are great with some even saying they are an improvement on the Brembos. Could it not be that other manufacturers have caught up? I can't see that KTM or BMW would compromise on safety and put sub-standard brakes on a bike.
  13. Huh? But a quick question which might belong on the remember thread. Anybody here remember Velo Solexes? Had a lot of fun on one of those as a youngster.
  14. ..So disappointed...
  15. I watched a program on how it is done. Each respray costs something like USD 1 million...
  16. Not really. More a case of being young, dumb and full of .... well, not appreciating the consequences of your actions.
  17. No Service history? Warning.....but perhaps find out why. Also, 2011 model is pretty old. But it's a Honda so reliability should not be an issue.
  18. You guys....
  19. Good point. 2014.
  20. Anybody looking for a GS 1200? My mate is selling his. Fantastic condition (He's Swiss and fastidious) with about - not sure- 25 000 kms. Looking for R130K.
  21. Hairy, A mate of mine is in a quandary similar to yours. He took his GS in to Donford for a service and they lent him a new 1250 as a loaner until his service is finished. Now he wants one, of course, and has to start the process of negotiations with the Boss at home...
  22. For Hairy.. 1981 BMW R100 that has been modified / customised into a "cafe racer" - my client bought it 5 years ago on a whim and paid R50 000 for it 2 years ago it started smoking and leaking oil and the engine was rebuilt by Mo (old guy who works from home in Grassy Park Cape Town - he worked for Atlantic Motorrad forever until his retirement) - the engine rebuild is a proper quality job and the bike has done less than a 1 000 km since. It starts first time, settles into idle easily and rides well All paperwork and license is in order I have it advertised on Gumtree for R45 000 but am open to offers - if you are interested please come and have a look and we can talk The bike is with me in Lakeside in Cape Town Justin 082 520 1762
