  1. Has anybody seen this site? Seems to me to be the perfect blend for us cyclists of motorbike and bicycle. OK, maybe not. And, couldn't help it but thought of Hairy and his eclectic bike tastes when I saw it. http://soekoe.co.za/
  2. What a stirrer...
  3. ..Just in time for the cold snap
  4. 120 ain't enough. On our roads you sometimes need to accelerate out of trouble from 120. Not sure how scooters - even the TMAX - will handle this. Andymann?

I didn't know he had a ride since KTM dumped him. Who's he riding for? Edit: I see CIP green power. Italian team. I wish him well but I think he's just lacking a bit in judgement, despite his talent. Perhaps he's wiser this year.

Live timing testing at Jerez: Phew, at last. Really struggled to get that posted.
  9. I see there's a GS 310 for sale on Wild dogs. Just putting it out there.. http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=233258.0
  10. As bad as that is, wait until you come around to my side of th mountain and see and smell the effects of pumping 50 milion litres of sewage daily into the sea... I see your and raise you another
  11. Got to agree with Kranswurm. They do look very cool but the ride will be very limited and possibly even dangerous. As bikes go, it would be a great little second bike to blip off down the road to the coffee shop or cafe for 30 mins. But certainly nothing longer or more challenging than that. As a first bike, I don't think it would be representative of motorbiking and may even put one off it. That's my opinion anyway.
  12. Shouldn't that whole thing be in Comic Sans?
  13. Patches, It exists in France.. https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/fr/fr/products/motos/adventure/t-n-r-700/
  14. Geez, will you look at the size of that fine print!! What a disclaimer. Haha
  15. I had a weird experience during SONA. I was watching "Air crash Investigation" and about the time when the plane was about to crash, the Gripens roared overhead. Quite a realistic experience, I can tell you...
  16. "I think, like anything in life, it is as good as the maintenance it receives. There are many 1200GS's that have many 100's of thousand KMs on them with no issues. They need maintenance, oil change, etc." Steven, I agree with this. I have read stories of expensive fixes for shafts - hope I don't have to do it - but they often are associated with lack of maintenance. I also find it smooth and clean as compared to a chain and without any of the transmission of shock to the frame under acceleration or deceleration as mentioned above. I think that may have been true of older drives but is certainly not the case currently. Like many things, personal choice but I just wondered originally why BMW didn't use shaft on the 1000 XR. I'm sure there must be a technical reason.
  17. Hey, shaddup you. The truth hurts.
  18. Haha. Looking at the photo of your bike, I think with fork travel like that, bumps in the road are your biggest problem. Does it bounce going across the road markings?
  19. I just wonder if it should have a shaft drive. What are your views on that? Is it less sporty? Less efficient?
  20. Haha. Don't blame me for having to sleep on the couch tonight...
  21. Ja, look, I know how expensive things are and how difficult it is to earn enough but I have come to realise that it's important to make good memories in life. To do that, sometimes one has to just jump and yes, take a risk. Obviously it must be well-considered and I'm not suggesting people should just indebt themselves but too much fear and hesitation can sometimes deprive one of opportunities. It's a lesson I'm trying to teach myself and it's not easy.
  22. Ah man, it's only money....
  23. This one also nice: 1000 XR
  24. GS 1200 LCA
  25. Thanks, ja, the lubrication is part of what I thought to be an issue. I remember reading somewhere that most engine wear occurs when starting due to the initial lack of lube. I do it just because I don't want to overheat while standing still. That shouldn't happen, I know, but the lights at some paces in CT take up to 4 or 5 minutes and sitting there with the engine running just seems wasteful. I guess frustration has something to do with it too.
