  1. Great thread and I agree with one of the last comments there that the bike would look better as a flat tracker or just plain naked bike with "up" bars. Individual taste, though..... Edit: That bike should be exhibited at the Ace Cafe in London. It would really turn heads. As a side story, I once worked as a labourer - during my desperate days in London - and for a week I painted the fences on the road in front of the Ace Cafe. Was almost a rite of passage to do it and is now my claim to fame...
  2. Geez, you just beat me to it..
  3. Hairy, With some work you could get it to look like this... Not a cruiser but wow..
  4. That thing reminds me of the creature in Alien.
  5. Haha. The things they have to do to sell a Harley...
  6. I remember Rod Gray riding a Honda CBX - my all-time favourite bike - with hollowed out pipes. Nothing ever matched the sound of those bike going up through the gears.
  7. I met Les Van Breda when he was riding a couple of bikes. He said he loved the RG500. He called it his "Norton". I assume he meant it had torque but I was so start-struck I didn't ask what he meant.
  8. Not sure. I seem to remember Petersen riding GSXs . Or was that Keith Petersen? My memory could be wrong.
  9. Yes, but I remember him for riding the RG500 Suzuki. Square four 2 stroke. Amazing bike and he could sure ride it.
  10. "If money was not an issue, for me, I would buy a Confederate Hellcat X132........." From the land of Mad Max. What a brute...
  11. Steven do you remember Les Van Breda?
  12. Could be.. Not sure if I'd like to be scratching around corners with those small wheels like in the first pic.. Nice commutes though..
  13. Oh OK. I must have the wrong model. Sure it was a Yammie though.
  14. Andy, what size are the motors on those? I think I was told you can get a 600cc..
  15. Flat on the tank? With Adv helmet? That does sound like a blast.
  16. How about this? https://bikes.autotrader.co.za/used-motorcycles/moto-guzzi/california/2013-moto-guzzi-california-bfpa-8a81c82f63f9068501640270f8c546c9?search-path=L21ha2Vtb2RlbC9tYWtlL01PVE8gR1VaWkkvc2VhcmNo&result-index=1
  17. That's the one I would have recommended. Not sure if I would ride it even middle-distance rides though. Even CT to Franschoek may be a push imo. Edit: Hairy, are you clear on what kind of riding you want to do?
  18. Saw one yesterday which looked like it was being ridden like it should be. Melted rubber all the way to the edge of the tyre with no chicken strip. Told the rider I was proud of him. Haha
  19. Barry, She is right. I think in order to throw away spend money on a "nice to have " bike, one needs to be sure you won't need it in the future. Mind you, with the price of fuel going the way it is, you may even end up saving money and/or selling it at a profit!
  20. Yes, there are a couple there who just seem to like to stir. There's even an emoji for it. Haha
  21. Turbo maybe? What kind of noise?
  22. Ah but you underestimate what a tightass I am..See above for long time taken to buy a leather jacket... I bought a used bike after looking around a lot and figured it was a decent deal, had already taken it's knock on value on new price, and that, at most, i would lose R10k to R20k. I thought that was acceptable to be able to be up and riding. You make a good point although I think it applies more to new bikes than used.
  23. Hairy, it took my 3 years to decide to buy my bike. I also couldn't decide what kind of riding I was going to do and waited and waited... Eventually made the decision to buy on the basis that I could at least ride something and if I found it didn't suit me, I could sell it and buy something more suitable. For me it has worked out so far but sometimes you just have to act and progress from there. This advice from someone who took 12 months to buy a leather I jacket I liked.
  24. Maybe mount it on one of those GoPro helmet mounts?
  25. See? Told you.. Edit: Bikers can't resist the sound of a aftermarket noise maker.
