  1. I find the guys at West Rand cycles to be quite good... Even though I hate the brand, their service and know how keeps impressing... Just my 2c worth
  2. Anyone planning a Dengfu order soon? Want a fm098, shipping is rough! Wouldn't mind sharing... Pm me! I'm in Gauteng so that would simplify things...
  3. I use I-cycle and find them really good. I pay around 260 per month for a total insured value of about 50k. Have had a claim settled for race Wheelset, and did have a bit of run around, but it was settled and I love my cosmics! They also seem to have very few loopholes, cover you in rcaes and overseas, and this includes personal liability for quite a substantial amount... I couldn't find a major leg for them to stand on to deny a claim, considering most of the cycle insurance options.
  4. I take the hit because, once your bike is worth more than 5k, I couldn't replace it myself within a month... So I insure, and have already used it! Had to get my race wheels replaced after a bad road caused some damage... For me, the peace of mind knowing that if you happens on the bike, med aid covers me, and insurance, everything else... Too many variables onna road bike... Other riders, drivers, theft, bad roads, etc etc etc... For me, makes sense..
  5. Yup. Insure my bike, my race Wheelset, my lights, and my gps computer... Oh! And my sunglasses.
  6. I think this is also really unfair for the black sportsmen and sportswomen. How would you feel, being selected for the national squad, but now not sure whether it's on talent or purely your skin colour. We know athletes are achievers. Those who train so hard, all day, every day, with talent and massive potential. Now, how do you know if you've really achieved, or are just part of a quota? I think they're doing no one the favour. Rather, split development funding for kids and teens. It'll take ten more years, but at least then the squads will be the best group of those who trained the hardest, worked the most, and have the mental conditioning required to handle the pressure and position. Just think this is for show, not for go.
  7. Don't ever but from them. Scammers. Will ask to deposit 50% of price, then the rest on delivery. You deposit. He runs. Just to test, ask a technical question, like, will the bora Wheelset fit your avid disk brakes? He'll probably give you a yes, with his banking details attached. Go to a bike shop and pay your money...
  8. Yeah I bought some stis from him. Not a problem at all, gave Chad and got my product in the stated condition. I would buy from him again.
  9. How about just a dogma with bora Wheelset and SRM power meter? Sure that'll get you close to her estimate...
  10. The preview clips look like they have absolutely no leg to stand on... This is gonna be great! Couldn't help but feel disgusted by the shop when I parked side for my ride into the cradle on Saturday. Close the doors you Bastards. And this should be a massive warning to shops and customers alike. Adbreak begone!
  11. This is 7k new at Solomons, but you already knew that! Yeah, 5k if it's in good nick. You don't lose all that much on the lower end bike... They are nice tho. Just got one for a mate who started riding! Good luck man
  12. I've fast come to the realisation that everywhere, people will be idiots. I sometimes make the mistake while riding that, because someone is on a moderately expensive bike, he would be smart enough to hold down a decent job (you know, to afford that shiny bike of his). But sadly, no. That street is one on my training route and the surrounding area is my training area. And it's shocking, the number of idiotic riders around. Tell them they're wrong, and boy do you get some mouthful, followed by a big middle finger, which I'm sure was just pulled out of the nose of these snot eating Bastards. But yet, I appreciate you, OP. Keep doing what you're doing to point out to people when they're wrong . After all, if we just let it happen, we're part of the problem. To the super c club? We knew they were tossers anyway, have you watched the show? Sucks worse than their sense of road holding. And my goodness the crappy commentating. Christ, I've heard more thrilling commentary of my 3 year old nephew taking a dump.
  13. Cajees had the bike brake for a while, when I bought my first cheapie they gave me one for free! Think I still have it somewhere?
  14. Your knee should be exactly vertical above the pedal axle, when the crank arm is in the forward horizontal position. I assume that the zero offset seat post will also get you sitting up a little bit more, not so stretched out, which should help with the lower back pain. I found, when i started, that lower back pain was part of getting bike fit/strong. If you've been riding for a while, perhaps try borrowing a zero offset post to test the fit. The bike fit guys do know more than I do, but if you're very sceptical, go for a second opinion at a different set up studio? Edit:clarity
  15. Check out Solomons in woodmead. Have good deals on axis ar40, your price range with full tiagra, shimano Wheelset. Best deal around at the moment
  16. For that length of time, I always just ride on water... Eat a while before so you don't feel it weighing you down, but get something inside you. Recovery? Chocolate milk is unbeatable. And I also always carry a gel in my tool pack just in case something goes wrong!
  17. Always a great experience dealing with them, just received my second item yesterday and it's so good! Will definitely be buying from them if they have what I want!
  18. Going to the states end of next month, really hoping I'll have the cash by then!
  19. Name and shame...
  20. I have a confession. I changed lanes today without signalling. But to be honest, I'm quite sure the people behind me knew what I was going to do? I mean, I looked and I had some space, and I know I should signal, but the last thing I want to do is be considerate and cautious - you know, for my own safety. What do you all think? Am I wrong? Or should we just decide on the application of a law every time we should obey it?
  21. I'm a Mormon. And we wouldn't do that. Thanks tho. I like how well we don't like being stereotyped as cyclists, but this thread proves we're the first to do so to other groups. Oh and I'm not offended. Even I think we do a lot of 'wierd' stuff! But it's worth living a feel good life!
  22. Let's replace the words "jumping the lights" with "committing murder". What happens? Anicca, stop stirring. Have you ever reread your posts? You sound like a child arguing with a parent as to why your bedtime shouldn't apply to you. The law is the law. You should not decide when it's applicable and when it's not, because that is not how road laws work. You out other cyclists lives in danger when you break the law, as it does infuriate motorists and certainly paints us with a terrible brush. Anyway, I suppose anything anyone says won't change your mind, because clearly you haven't grasped the concept of being a decent human being. Why is the world so effed up at the moment? BECAUSE NO ONE GIVES A **** BOUT ANYONE ELSE! If you skip a red and I see it happen, I will call you on it. And I don't care about the zap sign pulled and the F word used, as long as I can go home knowing I didn't remain silent when you broke the law. Happy Riding. And good luck with the rule bending. I'm sure anyone who breaks the law and affects you will have done the same thing.
  23. I have to laugh... What were seeing is a bunch of cyclists who acknowledge a law, and that they are breaking it - bur for them, in that situation, it just shouldn't apply. So they'll break it. Don't you asshats see? That's what every motorist does when they squeeze past you. Or text on their phone. Or jump a red light. "but I'm in a rush and can't sit behind a cyclists for those 30 seconds" sounds just as justifiable as "but it's safe for me to ride through a ride light cause I checked its safe". We could go on and on. I was always taught not to throw stones in glass Houses. We have to set the example each and every time we turn the pedals. Since I've started riding, I've always stopped at Red robots. Even when the group I'm riding with has gone through them! (its actually not all that hard to catch them two lights down anyway) I've always tried to make others aware of the stupid decision they've made by doing so too. I do this for any law applicable to a vehicle, for when I'm on my bike, I become one. When motorists see any cyclist go through a red, they become enraged because of the reasons already mentioned. And the idiotic term of "why do you care if I break the rules?" should be flamed. Your bad cycling prevents me from getting the courtesy I deserve while out riding. It affects anyone who cycles, as you perpetuate the stereotype. It's take a few seconds. Stop and breathe. Check your heart rate. Take a sip from the bottle. AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT IF YOURE IN AN AREA WHERE THERE ARE ROBOTS, YOU SHOULDNT BE RACING IT ANYWAY. so what's the point of saving 30 seconds? Don't be a douche. Stop at reds. And keep the rest of the rules. For you, and for every other cyclist who will ever get on a bike. Everyone around you will appreciate your effort, and normally it gets repaid with loads of space in passing and plenty of courtesy further down the road.
  24. And of course, he doesn't pay for them...
  25. Road or mtb?
