  1. My first purchase, a single frame, was non negotiable. my second, two Wheelsets, we're discounted a whopping 40 dollars. So ask. The worst they can say is no.
  2. Not to add any fuel to a silly fire, but I struggle with EIA. I ride with an inhaler. Not so I can have an advantage, but so that i don't suffer from an unfair disadvantage. I train hard, work hard, and still struggle to breathe properly without it. If St's positive for something, nail him, but otherwise, leave chris the hell alone.
  3. Yup! Dishing was out on both back wheels. Anton checked them out and said they just need a good tensioning of spokes and truing, which I'm glad I can be sure if when they come back from summit. Glad I went with anton. What a freaking cool guy!
  4. Thanks for the replies guys, got sorted by wyatt earp at summit cycles! Seriously awesome guy, and incredibly awesome shop. Kinda annoyed with myself that ive not been there sooner!
  5. Thanks for the confirmation guys... Sad to lose the talent!
  6. That's what I feared...
  7. So, don't know if this is the right topic, but just wanted to know if anyone knows if Johan is still around? Not on the hub, but physically in the country? Have a wheel build which I would like to contact him about... Heard he was helping out at cycle lab but not sure if he's still there? Help is appreciated!
  8. Or one who understands cycling very well, and is paid well for the mistakes by MTN... But for reals. They've done it once already, surely they should nave sorted it out so that no second time would happen? Schmucks...
  9. Cape union mart have merino base layers as well...
  10. so, its finally complete. my Chinese Carbon Beauty is done! wheels have arrived, and today was their first outing, and the frames first relatively long test ride. and wow. its incredible. frame is lovely, its stiff on climbs and sprints, but is super smooth and comfy. wheels are awesome. some slight flex under my heavy weight (100kgs), but performed incredibly well. braking surface is sharp and responsive, and the hubs feel so smooth! and of course, they make it look badass! a bit more on the wheels: i bought a 60mm set and a 38mm set. both came with novatec hubs, and in matt UD finish. basalt braking surface, and a set of cork pads for each wheelset. the skewers are quite nice as well! they ride well, and true out the box, and tension from the factory seems on par. the finish and build quality is excellent, as with the frame, and fitting tyres was super simple, even with the gatorskins on the 38 set. both wheelsets have the exact same rim profile as the Zipps, just without the dimples. the LBS compared the two and were amazed at the quality! so an equivalent set of 404s and 303s. while not light by a long shot, 1700g for each set, weight wasn't my main objective, as i am heavy and need a strong wheelset, instead of a light one that i need to true every week. the first ride with the 60s was great, and i'm thoroughly chuffed with the look, feel, and especially, price of the bike, as it stands. I - cycle had no problems insuring both frame and wheels, so not too bothered about warantees. they're so well built i doubt id need to use it anyway. bike will remain blank for now, until i can sort out decals. wheels will forever be blank! enjoy the pics boys! was F****** freezing when i took them this morning so may have been a little shaky!
  11. I don't have enough expletives for scumbags like these... The brazen Bastard. Glad he got the bike back and these douchebags are in some trouble...
  12. Anyone struggling with pains and numbness, whether in hands or Gooch or feet or knees or back, I suggest the most valuable solution: Get a proper bike fit! Cycle fit in randburg have been the best money I've spent on my bike. I know I punt them a lot on the hub, and am not associated in any way, but that's how much they've improved my riding experience. A fit is like 700 bucks, and honestly is the best money you'll ever spend on that bike. Just do it. You can thank me later.
  13. My insurers required a bike shops assessment to ensure actual ownership and appropriate value. I was surprised, as I would have assumed a much smaller amount than was given by the shop, but everyone was happy once it was forwarded. I also required a photo of all the stuff I insured. I was very grateful for the bigger issued amounts when it came time to claim!
  14. Ha.. This is like online dragons den. Good luck Bro! But, I'm out.
  15. Something is very wrong in South Africa, when Italian customer service is better...
  16. Just make sure the clamp fits the rails. Most times the carbon rails are ovak shaped instead of round, and some load clamps don't fit and cause issues. Ritchey have a carbon specific clamp for carbon rail saddles due to this, so do make sure before you ruin something.
  17. But the no cycling signs are only situated on ag De wit between association and Churchill... Am I wrong to cycle before these? Any particular reason not to? This is where I do some good hill training on the road so just wondering?
  18. Yeah.. Have one set of jawbones, one set of the newer named racing jackets, and they're the best glasses ever... Great fit, like, amazing fit, and no scary lense changing moments.. Great for riding, great for golfing, awesome for driving. And they don't set you back as far as your two options. Love them.
  19. I weight in at a feathery 100kgs, probably 105 with kit, spares, shoes, and bottles, and my road frame has held up superbly so far... Feel more stable and confident on it than my old name brand frame... Fwiw...
  20. Sheesh.. Good think you guys don't play golf... It seems, on average, for anyone who buys entry to mid level equipment, including helmet, bike, sunglasses, shoes, pedals, bike, cages, etc, etc, you'd spend between 10 and 15k... Now, you want to competitively use that equipment, and both about it costing a couple of hundred bucks? How much does dinner for one at a decent restaurant cost nowadays? Stuff is expensive, but for what you get, a bike race entry fee is not that bad... But here's the real kicker... If it's too much, don't buy it. Simple. Easy. Go ride somewhere else. Or one more tip - ride a road bike! That way, you won't have to pay entry fees for training rides, and you can save then all up for a race...
  21. Yeah.. If you rate yourself, you risk going blind...
  22. It's under 1k and is the most valuable money you'll spend on your cycling. Beg anyone around you for 100 bucks each and get it done... Seriously worth it.
  23. Ever watched the karate kid? Wax on, wax off..
  24. Saddle height, saddle setback, saddle width, and make it level! Cutout or not, saddle shape suited for your flexibility... Lots of answers required. I would suggest a bike fit, cyclefit sorted my saddle discomfort really well!
