  1. Hi guys My roller is 10 months old. Has about 500km on (only more serious riding the last two months). After replacing my older Zaffiro trainer tyre I noticed the wear on the roller as per below. So I sent a support ticket to the suppliers (who were very helpful). They sent a warranty request to Wahoo HQ. Wahoo's reply was "The wear on the roller is normal/cosmetic in nature and the roller can continue to be used without issue for a number of years to come." hmmm.. not so sure. VID_20230904_125151.mp4
  2. Mywhoosh doesnt like my laptop.. too old. But it runs amazing on my Ipad. Workouts, rides everything is 100%. I'm learning to love it. But my main training sessions are through TP running through my Garmin 530. No fuss, just business. My screen occupies me with some One Piece Anime, to get my head focussed elsewhere when the watts burn the legs and the interval is still 15min to go.
  3. the comfort of the R355 is quite something. I have one as well as my only outdoors bike (the roadbike is parked on the Kickr). I did the Secunda mtb race in crazy conditions on pirelli 42's and completed it sub-100 while many DS bike owners packed up. So I would say for it. The bike can handle it.
  4. haha. exactly. so next year's model will then rule this one as well... Poor Frodo will have to make this journey once per year.
  5. One bike to rule them all.... until next year then we need a new one.
  6. when tightening bolts on a carbon part (a stem in my case) use a torque wrench, dont "feel it". I completely ripped the metal thread bit loose.... had to chuck the carbon stem in the bin...
  7. My 'dale was stolen last year. I checked all the pawnshops (and there are quite a few here in my MP town), and FB Marketplace, but nadda. Insurance pd, but I still miss my Cannondale.
  8. I have a pair of Castelli's and two Ciovita bibs. Before that I rode Craft (which is rubbish) and Rapid Sports (not bad considering the price). The Ciovita and Castelli bibs were a game changer for me. My arse thanked me for spending a bit more for infinitely better. I bought all of them on special over a period.
  9. I fell for it.... picked up a grx 810 rd from a fellow hubber for a bargain. Shifting is smooth. so we'll test the summer on the 2x. I have the ultimate black 42t on standby... so far so good..
  10. uber or bolt.red busses maybe. there are private touring cpy's as well that do a good job especially if you have bikes and stuff. but unless you are willing experience the true south african donation system (by gun or knife point), id stay away from public transport.
  11. thant was my initial 7k calculation.
  12. Ok. I took all the advice and did some testing (still testing). I got an XT 11-40 cassette (new from a hubber at a bargain) and a new chain from evobikes. I also got a road crank spesific 42T narrow-wide oval ring (Absolute Black). total cost R3.5k But I got the bikeshop to insolate my FD cable under the bottom bracket. They didnt have the one proposed here in the forum though. So test 1. I installed the 11-40 and new chain. took some negotiating with the 105 RD, but it runs well. so I have the 50/34 front and 11-40 back. The range is enormous. I did a 60km ride gravel ride today and only rode on the 50T (I pulled a VWA! legend). Had enough range and no issues. During the dry season I might keep this setup. but the challenge will come with muddy trails. Im a bit worried about losing the top speed of the 50T (still a roadie at heart). But will probably build a bridge and slap the 42T ultimate black oval on (love those ovals). Thanks for all the advice! Its amazing.
  13. thanks.that she is.... did you just swop the two rings for the one csixx? It will be probably the route I would follow.... I think the 105 can handle up to 11-40 (unofficially). but being the woosy I am... I might just get a 11-36 as a test with a 42t front. and test. if the noise is too much or the rd does like the setup i can pop the two rings back on... still contemplating. but will first see what the result is with sleaving the cables.
  14. My bike is currently with the lbs. firstly to repair a buggerup they did just before the cosmos and to sleeve the bottom cables. I'll test that by looking for some muddy bits. Im still leaning towards 1x but forking out 7k on a drive train still hurts my insides (10km if I get a grx 1x crank as well - the chain alignment of slapping a 42 narrow-wide on a 105 crank bothers me a bit). Will let you guys know how it goes. thanks for the input so far
  15. any noise from chain ring when chain is on high and low cogs?
  16. one option I did conjur up last night in my attempt to bat above my average on Zwift was to replace the 105FD with a GRX FD. maybe it can handle muck better as the 105 isnt really built for that terrain? so that plus attempting a full housing below the bottom bracket (my momsen does internal cabling so rerouting dont think will work), could be a potential solution? edit: I will attempt the full housing first. My setup is due for new drivetrain but will hold off until I know. One thing I did read last night (that I didnt even think of) is the noise from 1x conversions from the chain angle on the biggest or smallest chain.... man I hate noise...
  17. That might just work... so I can run this until it reaches the narrow tube pushing up through the back of the seat post?
  18. oh wow.... didnt even know that was possible.
  19. Ive had the bike into the LBS a few times but no avail. I even replaced the housing and cabling just before the Cosmos 3 in 1. work perfectly until we hit the muddy parts.... then samo samo. luckily the most of the cosmos wasnt 50t friendly so it worked out alright.
  20. would appreciate it
  21. from what I read the 11 speed mtb rd's has a different cable pull than the 105 shifters. You can get away with a specific add-on on the derailler... but Im not sure. Its a bit over my head.
  22. Looking for some advice. I ride mainly on my Momsen R355 Gravelbike with 105 R7020 2x groupset. The most tarmac I ride is the bit between my house and where ever the gravel roads are (Middelburg is not road cycling friendly). I've even ridden two MTB races with my Momsen. What I have found is that whenever I hit any amount of mud, my FD just doesn't shift (the grime gets stuck on the cable on the bottom (where the BB is), or the FD itself). As soon as I shift to the 34t, I cannot get back to the 50t. Its massively frustrating to the point that I am prepared to throw a few grand at converting to a 1x setup 42 front and 11-42 back (might need to buy a GRX RD with the tensioner- ouch) for a smooth setup. (so , swopping out the rings on the 105 crank with a 42 absolute black wide/narrow-(buying a 170mm grx crank is insanely expensive), a new 11-42 cassette, chain and GRX RD... looking at around an estimated 7k expense). My question is basically a subjective one. Is it worth it? I'm currently only focused on my frustration at this point. Either the possibility of limping home every time I hit water or mud on a 34t chainring or losing some top speed and the small jumps between cogs (coming from a road background it might take some getting use to). I don't know of any other way to resolve....
  23. exactly what I came here to post... haha
  24. yep... bow to the man, pay 4 times the price and get to watch less than a 1/3rd (my estimate) of the races.
