  1. with my boy's birthday, it was pretty tight. but got to do a lekker effort to the devonvale circle and back. my choice test of improvement. finally broke the 1hour mark. was lekker. had my father-in-law along for the sufferfest.
  2. 1hour. fullgass with devonvale as the cherry on top edit: although devonvale adds about 10min. its a steep bugger
  3. ive been riding Rapid Sport bibs since 2014. Still have the first one I bought. its now retired to indoor spinning. but have had zero problems. Can justify R4k on bibs. and my missus certainly wont.
  4. My respect for Roglic sky rocketed today. Rode like a true champ and yet giving his fellow riders their due. Stunning stage from start to finish. Felt bad for Pogacar though.
  5. Still have some twitching in my hamstring from last weekend's ride... so did a 50km with some sprint intervals rather than a 100k slow burn. Was fun though
  6. looks good. no complaints here.
  7. Oh absolutely. You can clearly see just the difference in position on the bike. I can ride longer and more comfortably lower on the drops and the hoods. Legs are pedalling straight. So my riding efficiency, power output, less gravity on the climbs, lungs, top speed, everything feels and functions so much better.
  8. Awesome Ride on Saturday. Legs felt great.
  9. wow stunning. definitely one for the bucket list. just one pet peave confession.... I got a slight tick in my neck every foto with his bike lying on the ground.
  10. i would love to try tri, but the only thing I hate more than running is swimming...
  11. Hitting my goals. Im very chuffed. Have tried al sorts of diets and plans. Banting, the dreaded 28-day diet, even my wife's favorite, "trim, healthy mama's" (I call it the sexy mama diet). But none are sustainable in the long term and just too much to remember. So with running a calorie count app on my phone and recording everything it helps to make right, and wise choices through the day and I still get to enjoy the niceties of the culinary world. Training wise, Im spending 2- 3 times per week, 20-30 minutes with GCN's HIIT sessions on the trainer. And weekends I smash the tarmac hills. Did my first 100km solo in 5 years last weekend and felt great afterwards, along with PB's on Hell's hoogte. Good to get back into the groove. Dropped 8Kg since Jan. Thats 16 blocks of butter I don't have to carry up a hill.
  12. Cyclosport for the win. Eloff and his team always ready to help. Ive been sending my bikes to him since 2013 (when I entered the cycling world). always brilliant.

  14. Did my first 100km in 5 years. Good to have my legs back. Franschoek and back. Stunning ride
  15. Ive now done just over 1000km on my black ovals. Must say. I love them more and more.
  16. I did. for sure. My garmin proved it.
  17. I upgraded from 172.5 to 175 for a while on my previous bike. what I did find though that my cadence speed dropped noticeably. I also found a noticeable dead spot when pedalling (specially uphill). Since back to 172.5's my cadence is again 80-85 range. Cant say for dead spot now, I installed ovals. So not apple vs apple comparison.
  18. drop them Kg's and you'll fly. Do hills. loads of them. steep ones, long ones, short ones. find the worst mother and ride it till it feels like a small hill. If you drop 10kg's but still put out the same or more watts, you'll be a beast on a hill.

    The Classics

good to see Sagan back into contention. The commentators were actual surprised. Here's hoping for a good green jersey contest at La Tour
  20. I don't get paying 3.5k for a pair of sunglasses. makes no sense to me.
  21. check how it feels, but from what I read and watched, prop it up a smidge.
  22. Attempted my 1st 100k in 4 years. all went ok until I turned onto Adderley. The Wind broke me. spinning on descents in easiest gear. it was like riding through molasses. By the time I got to Durbanville I called wifey to pick me up. knackered! 98.1km on strava.
