  1. Epic is going to be sharp, rocky, thorny, dry and powdery....so any tyre choice needs to reflect that AND your riding style!!

If you're technically good and constantly pick your line, then you can possibly get away with thinner and lighter tyres. If not, take the more sturdy one's. Last thing you want to do if you're trying to survive, is plug holes frequently....

    agreed

  2. I see Bike Addict shop has a special on Maxxis Ardent 2.4 and Maxxis Ikon skin wall exo 2.2

Could you please advise on these, as we all know that the conditions down here in the Cape is dry dry and powdery.

will they put up with the long days..??

    Thanks

Yes they will, those Maxxis are very storng, but heavier than the Vittoria's, saw cyclesharp has the new cape cobra edition on special..

  3. Doing my 4th one this year, did my first Epic with the Racing Ralph knobbly Nic combo which worked great. 2016 & 2017 was with the Barzo Saguaro combo which was fantastic.

So because of the relentless terrain this year I would suggest either Maxxis or Vitoria, the only reason Im going with Vitoria is because they are lighter than the Maxxis.

I bought a small CAM jersey and it fits like a glove save for the fact that it is WAY too long. Look at the pics in the article, you can see how the guys jersey is bunched up. It happens due to the length. If the jersey was shorter it would be perfect. The sleeve lycra is a little thin but seems to be holding its shape. Time will tell. I love the designs and the overall fit is great except for the fact that its too long.

Bunched up jerseys, hary legs, jerseys loose around the neck, who organised this shoot, it really doesnt look good at all.

  5. Youre joking???? WTF?? Why would people make up **** like that??

Just off the phone to a number of Epic insiders, this passing-away story is pure rumour. Let's leave it alone now, for his family and friends' sake? When the family is ready to give updates, they will.

  6. gents seriously, Hes comming with 2 of his lead men, i recon hes gonna tear **** up! Might put cycling sa in a bad light.. No one will be able to stay near him..Opinions please?

Gonna be the first time ever that i watch the argus on the telly, hopefully it wont be that usual low budget crap broadcast with commentators that sound like their wives left them 30years ago, bring up the TDF commentators!! Exiting times

Your my friend, you are simply an Idiot.

Because just exactly like I predicted, in almost the first response after your initial post you refer to the guy behind you as a "black" guy.

Who cares what colour he was, obviously it matters to you?

You also think that you/or someone else has the right to "kill" another. And that such actions could be justified.

    "hate" ... "kill"

Erm "V" , you come across as a bit of a panzy with all this treehugging, human rights political bull****.. You also come across as bit of a d**s, but then again, so does the guy who made the post.. This guy talks alot of ****, but he is also right about some of the things, and we(cyclists) are in a very bad light with the public because of things like this, our roads are not designed for cyclist, so when youre on it, try and be discrete and try not to be a arrogant bastard and act like you own the road! Just a tip for u, when u decide to get into an argument with an idiot like this guy again, remember this : meng saam met die semels en die varke sal jou opvreet...

  8. There was a recent incident where a cyclist in Pretoria got killed by a bakkie overtaking on the left, over the yellow line. If that guy had a car following him, he might still be alive today.

The roads are a dangerous place for cyclists, and you as a fellow cyclist should know this. Just relax, wait till it's safe and overtake.

Dude, this might be a bit out of the blue, but youre the first person according to me that knows about that terrible accident! I was there when they pulled the blanket over him! F*cking terrible! Dude i go past there everyday and theres nothing, you would not even know that a 27 year old engineer was killed there... Nothing in the papers, just another dead cyclist.. People should know that a cyclist was killed there, even if they just put their celphones down for a moment, it would help! #raise awareness
