  1. The Fox owner manual prescribes a bush inspection, oil change and changing of FLOAT fluid in chambers every 50 hours of riding.
  2. I'm 1.79 and on a medium 26" bike. Had a large before the medium and the medium frame feels like it handles a bit better, but that could be going from a hardtail to a duel suspension. Probably best to go and test ride a few bikes before you decide.
  3. Yeah, I have a ways to go before I'm seen as a contributor I guess.
  4. If I say it twice can I get double discount?

    DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I rode the 30km last year and will most likely be there on Saturday to do the 30km again depending how I feel after this afternoons ride after I finally got the best of the cold that I had. Last year was a sufferfest for me but I got there unprepared and took a gel at the start and somehow lost the follow gels and my energy levels really low after about 15km's. The single track was very nice. There was two lekker technical rocky dropoffs that was fun if you didn't have someone walking it in front of you. It looks like they changed the route from last year to stay on the one side of the big dirt road so not sure how much single track will be there compared to last year. They built ablution facilities this year also so no portapotties. lol. If its not to far to drive I think its a must to ride. Loads of nice places to stay close by and a beautiful part of the country.
  7. I used Shimano 520's till about 4 months ago and switched over to Crankbrother Candies. I wanted something with a bit more contact between the shoe and the pedal. When Bicicletta had their clearance sale I couldn't help myself. The float from the CB's are nice aswell. I am very happy with the CB's and can't see myself changing to another brand quickly unless something major happens that destroys my confidence in the CB's. The Shimano's was a bit easier to get in and out of at first till I got used to the CB's. If you go with Shimano's be sure to set the cleat up to allow for the natural angle of the feet. Don't just put the cleats straight as that can result in knee pain over time. I had to play around with the position of the cleat aswell to find a comfortable fit. Hope this answers some of your questions.
  8. I think the easiest way to get a group would be to post on the Polokwane Pedallers Cycling Club Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/PPCC-Polokwane-Pedallers-Cycling-Club/251495294910237 , they seem to be a very active club. or Mokopane Cycling Club Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mokopane-Cycling-Club/281360352012338 is a new club that started a few months ago. There are a few road cyclists but only know the mtb riders. Hope this helps.
  9. I bought a Thule 9103 Clip on November last year for my December holiday down at the coast. Easy to mount and get off. Yes, you need to use pool noodles and straps to secure the bikes in place but didn't find that a problem. The point I'm trying to make is that without experience of previous use I mounted two mountain bikes on a Opel Corsa 1.4 Lite, drove from Limpopo province to Port Alfred with all the mountain ranges and winds and everything and the bikes didn't move an inch. To be honest, I would have liked to get the Saris Bones 3 but that was a bit out of my price range. Edit: Spelling.
  10. But the 'moer and soek" golfer will probably first look for info on the different coarse before he goes to play there. Edit: Spelling
  11. I ride my mountain bike to unwind after a long and often k@k day at work, over weekends I do longer rides and a race every now and then. My skill level isn't great, but I do like to challenge myself when the opportunity presents itself. That said, I would like to know beforehand how much I'm going to suffer in a race, I do it to enjoy it and not to torture myself. So forgive us "ex-golfers" if we try to enjoy the sport and that doesn't live up to the "purist's" standards. I believe it's us 'ex-golfers" that make up the bulk of the entrants at races. So with that in mind, if you want to organize races you should be prepared to answer those kind of questions in my opinion.
  12. Was just about to ask the same.
  13. One of the main reasons I like the Monorails is their tight bead. I can take the tire off, clean it and put it back and only need my little hand pump to re inflate because of the UST rims. I'm kinda new to MTB'ing and only have experience with Maxxis tires. My first bike had Larsen TT's on and then I got the opportunity to get a duel suspension, that bike came with the Monorails. Basically what I'm asking is should all UST tires be inflatable with a hand pump or is it only the Monorails with the tight bead?
  14. So I can write that tire off. Is it still a regular occurrence with Maxxis tires and Stans or not? If so what can I do to prevent it from happening? I tried to get reviews of Caffe Latex as a alternative for Stans, but not really long term users submitting reviews. Any suggestions on what I can possibly use as sealant as I like the Monorail tires.
  15. I just need to find out if someone here knows if the bubbles developing on my rear Monorail tire is because of delaminating or could it be from rocks damaging the tires?
  16. I had Maxxis Crossmarks on my bike previously and decided to give the Maxxis Monorail a try. Have to say I'm happy with the grip of the tires. Maybe something to look at.
  17. Thanks for the replies droo and Diirty. I will phone CycleLab and Saloojees on Monday. I saw on Saloojees website that they are GT dealers. I will definitely buy at least one spare.
  18. I have a GT Marathon 1.0, think its a 2008 model. Today on a leisurely ride I heard a pop and then had a noise coming from my crank/BB area. On closer inspection the GT Flexbone snapped. Is there someone that can give me some information regarding the replacement of the GT Flexbone. Can I replace it with a rigid piece of metal or does the metal have to be flexible? Will it damage the pivot points on the frame if I use something else in the place of the Flexbone? Anyone know where I can buy a replacement Flexbone in the Limpopo area. Closest real bikeshop is at least 65km from me and it isn't guaranteed that they will even stock something like that. I will phone around on Monday as I got home after the shops in Polokwane would have closed so just looking for advise at the moment. Attached is a photo of the item required and one with a similar failure as mine.
  19. Would be nice to get all that info, just a bit too far for me.
  20. Now that was real funny. Good one.

I used to have Crossmarks on my bike, trying a set of Monorails at the moment. Have to say that I like the Monorails more than the Crossmark. Might have to try a set of the Ikons next time.
  22. LOL!! Now why did you have to go there?
  23. Was just wondering this morning when the next installment on the story was going to be available. Thanks River Rat.
  24. Thanks for the kick on the backside. I'm just really deflated today with the whole situation. One bastard can't keep his hands to himself and it causes a massive amount of hassle for the law abiding citizens.
  25. The guys that saw the culprit are still looking for the place that he stays. Worst thing is I took the bike off my Insurance with Outsurance at the end of last month. Its been an awesome bike and started to need all kinds of attention, not sure it is worth the trouble to just take it back.
