  1. That’s a cool story. Not sure generations of today would bother or understand this.
  2. I have a similar/different situation here in Dubai. Firstly, every time I swipe my credit card, the person just takes it out your hand, stands back behind the counter and swipes, card goes out of sight and often gets put down on counter etc.. My reaction is more to like a complete stranger forcefully taking my child out my arms!! I’m mean how dare you take my card, what are you doing with it!! Secondly, you have an Emirates ID, basically a card you need to do most things, picture on it, biometrics, chip type card. So when you say buy a car or do anything that might require a registration of sorts they somma take you card and tell you they’ll give it back in a few days!! Or you visit a school and the security guard keeps it while you go inside, I’m like, will you look after it, keep it safe, sure nobody will steal my identity, the look in reply is priceless. They have NO idea what the hell you are worried and talking about.
  3. That's new!! I think. It's been a request on the Garmin Forums for ever. Wonder if they have finally decided to listen. Anyways....just check the detail on the maps. I've always found the base maps quite short of detail, so if they are not included all side street and major trails then have a look at the free maps again, you wont be disappointed!
  4. Was actually this... Doesn’t look yummy at all.

Like him or not. He’s champ again. And did it like a true champ. Two crashes on the weekend, one pretty big and then went on to win the race. Noting that the next Honda I don’t think was even Top 10. That’s 8 World Titles now. Well done Marc!!
  6. I accept your POV. However mine is ... If the pig was raised on a good traditional farm and then slaughtered in the correct manner I don’t see anything wrong with your friends posts.

With the info available does seem a little strange. My explanation will just be “FIM protocols”. He probably was not cleared to ride by the track hospital. Perhaps needed a “fancy” scan to confirm all was ok. So a trip to the local hospital via the correct safety protocol was in order. Some videos have surfaced now of the crash. It was a biggie!! I’m not surprised he’s eina. I’d be dead.
  8. I don’t see a problem here. She had her safety glasses on.
  9. Absolutely no problem that. You can load great maps for free for basically anywhere in the world at your pleasure. Have a look at the DCrainmaker article for step by step process. Very easy. I got my Fenix in the UK, live in Dubai, loaded the maps for Dubai and have great maps now. And on the new Garmin products you don’t have to replace any existing maps (unless storage is an issue). You can have several “base” maps loaded and use them as you please. Even load different maps for different activities. The free maps even support routing which I can confirm works a treat.
  10. I’m Healthy Diet trying to get to consistent Flexitarian state. Could I see myself getting to Vegetarian... eish don’t think so but somewhere between Flex and Veg would be my goal. Vegan, never say never but hell no is my current answer.
  11. VPN. Connect to the UK from your phone, download Alexa app. Setup. Open the Bose Music App and enable the assistant. Once that’s done and working you can disconnect from VPN and carry on as usual. Once enabled it stays enabled. ***Well that’s what’s I’ve done and it’s works a treat!! But, to be honest, novelty wears off pretty quick with Alexa. So even if you don’t get around to doing that you not missing out on much IMO.
  12. Nothing to do with cycling. But it does have wheels. [emoji16]
  13. Argument? I thought this was just some family cousins saying cheers after a braai.
  14. I think she feels smothered.
  15. Doing my part for this thread today. Ok, that’s a lie, I’m having a lekker lunch today, just turns out it’s good for the world too.

    Vettel, that you?
  17. Maybe should be Simon123.....4 and 5 !
  18. Interesting you’ve moved this to the Veeeg thread, as my opinion is not isolated to just this topic, but ok. As I’ve said many times before, I am all for people driving awareness, it’s the execution of the message that I have issues with. Perhaps some of the “resistance” people get on certain topics is not the topic itself but the way it’s delivered to an audience. Be impactful, but do a better job at it. Fair that Instagram are doing their part, but it’s a reactive feature. If people were more careful at what they posted it would not be needed. When I as an adult click to uncover the video, I know what I’m about to subject myself too, my 13 year old boy does not, now I sit with the fallout, I would prefer to teach and expose my kids to “life” as and when I believe they are ready (and no, I don’t have blinkers on). You honestly believe that kids have the maturity and understanding to deal what what they get subjected to because a celebrity feels like it.

I’m against rape too. But I’m hoping that as we fight it’s awareness and prevention my kids don’t get subjected to live video of cellphone gang rape via an almost uncontrollable media platform.

Instagram requires you to be a minimum of 13 years old. How did your 9 year old get an account?

What are our thoughts on Lewis and his increasing use of social media to drive his beliefs? Don’t get me wrong, I 100% agree with him on animal cruelty but my son is 13 and I am not happy he can go onto Instagram and see a cow getting hit on the head with a hammer and then being stabbed to death.....

Not sure where I said fans deserve to “know everything”. Please don’t miss quote me.
  23. Sorry, should have mentioned. I live in a Dubai now, purchased here. But was even cheaper in the UK last month. I wouldn’t worry about “local” warranty with BOSE. I would think their international warranty is good.
