  1. Must be a relatively new lifestyle for her. Couple of years ago she was sponsored by USN and to my knowledge did not have vegan products in their lineup. And she was very open about using their products and how they were tested etc. ****Of course, I could be wrong!
  2. Some goodies delivered yesterday....I’m a bit of a fanboy. [emoji16]
  3. Identical internals means exactly the same coffee quality drink. S8 is more refined though. Some plastic accents are now metal and the touch screen compared to LCD on the E8. Depending on price difference, I wouldn’t stretch too far for the S8 if it were me. I love my Jura automatic machine. It’s over 8 years old now. Works perfectly still. I have taken it twice in for service and the service I received was next level! It even made the move with me to Dubai.
  4. Eish, they give me the hibby jibbies. On that note though....I’ve done many trips to Austin Texas. It’s a daily event around sunset along the Austin Lake Downtown for what must be millions of bats to fly from under the bridges up stream for the evening. It’s a sight you can not believe until you’ve seen it, slowly the entire skyline goes dark filled with bats.
  5. I took myself out on my fork lockout once that was mounted on the bars. Dangerous part of the bike that!! [emoji16]
  6. Say it isn’t true! You take that back.
  7. I live in Dubai, UAE. Bikes are sooooo expensive here!! Between 25%-35% more than South Africa in general. Doesn't help that they only stock the latest and greatest and never have "last years" model at reasonable prices. Strangely components, parts & kit are ok in price when comparing but once again you can't find affordable range brands. It's all Assos or Rapha or ....
  8. I don’t see a problem. Doubt anyone would be able to lift that pile of steel.
  9. For those that have been successful. What browser did you use? TIA..
  10. I’m finding this thread amusing at the moment. It’s titled “Winter Paincave” but here as we ramp up into Dubai summer I’m trying to figure out my “Summer Paincave” [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] It’s almost too uncomfortable to ride outside now. I recon by end July I’ll have no choice but to ride indoors.
  11. I have the opposite view here. Bringing my dogs with me has been the best thing for my family in helping deal with the move. It was like they represented a mate that was left behind. Their common routine, taking them for walks and their general presence has been well worth the expense. I don’t regret bringing our rugrats one bit. Ever time I see my kids spending time with the dogs, just playing, stroking, watching TV, or whatever, I am very very grateful I chose to bring them. For sure, I understand the financial implication but then if your move is based on such a thin financial line I would have bigger concerns. I’ve had to dig deep into my savings for all sorts of things since moving. Just sharing my personal experience and view.
  12. Look at a music stand for the keyboard. They are great “tables” for keyboards, remotes, phones, iPads etc...
  13. Don’t panic. Everyone here still loves NZ :-) Majority of the posts above are honest responses to a post I made a few days back.
  14. Great posts above. Very interesting. I’m on a different path at the moment living in the UAE but I’m always interested to see the challenges faced for expats no matter where they might go. I’ve got some mates in NZ but mostly in AUS. As Patch says above, reality for “most” places one ends up, your house in SA ends up being a deposit in your new country. Considering that most people don’t contribute more to retirement as what was mandated in SA (again a general statement) many relied on their SA house as an asset when going on pension. Starting a new bond mid 40’s will have a lasting impact 20 years down the line I believe. But we do what we believe needs to be done. While short term we get things in order and sorted. It’s the “20 years from now” that still scares the heck out of me.
  15. General cost of things? Or when comparing back to old SA is it the housing, utilities, food, insurance, schooling etc. that is “expensive” ?
  16. If a family or four for example, do both parents “need” to work??
  17. I do enjoy this thread. However, no place is perfect. I see only “The Good” being posted. As far as SA is concerned “The Bad” (general statement). So come on guys, where’s the Bad and the Ugly in New Zealand. Can’t be all roses.....
  18. I was watching the UK broadcast which had some interviews after the race. Good debate. At one point Martin Brundell makes a statement to the Ferrari boss “so basically you are saying the the only pass we should allow in F1 is a DRS pass in a straight line”.
  19. I still love my moka pot. Makes great coffee!!!
  20. Slightly off topic but on topic. I had not played soccer (football) for over 20 years. Here where I live now they have ‘dads football” every Saturday morning. 2 weeks ago I thought I’d join. Holy smoke........... 2 halves of 30min on a full pitch. I was totally knackered. Went home and slept 4 hours in the afternoon!! Garmin had me at 8km total distance and ave HR at 168bpm for the hour. That’s over 90% of my cycling HR max!! What a jol. What a realization how bad my overall fitness was. Now, each week getting a little stronger and I’m loving the exercise. Change on motivation from just turning pedals.

This is an even bigger mistake than what WhoreGay made!!
  22. Haven’t seen the crash so can only speculate. But the was a video from a few minutes before the crash. Full TT bike and the wind was BLOWING. Looks like they were finishing their ride. Suppose an extra challenge these guys deal with when checking out the course and needing ride on what might not be ideal roads etc on bikes that don’t handle great. But yeah, he does tend to fall off more than others!
  23. We all know that LH44 will be the first to rock the 700’s :-)
  24. Ok cool. Two things I like about the 35’s (personal) They lighter than the new ones (700’s are ali) They fold flat and smaller, great for my laptop bag and that HUGE amount of space (not) that I have in economy class seat pocket. I do like your “affordable” comment though......suppose R90k ZAR bicycles can also be considered affordable all things considered. LOL.
  25. Thanks for that. Somehow though that just seems like marketing gumph to make those who have just laid out cash for 35’s to not feel bad. I really don’t see enough of a difference between the two. And Bose, like Apple keep old products on as they still make money. I mean you can still by 25’s today... But hey, I have a few pairs of Bose and even home products from them, I do love their stuff!!
