  1. Paarl! When you riding with us again?
  2. I ran mine right front as well, but now all the guys I ride with has right rear. Due to the joy of swapping bikes and seeing how different setup can change something, I have relented and is taking the time to get used to having my right hand control my rear brake. Interesting stuff!
  3. As far as I understand on any trail or singletrack (apart from downhill sections like DH1, 2 or 3), the rider going up has right of way. If the rider going up is pushing, the rider going down has right of way. This is true unless the trail is marked otherwise.
  4. I switched over to grips some time ago, never had a problem with slippage in mud or rain. Grips change much faster and you are not limited to one gear change at a time - you can go from 1 to 9 or visa versa in one move. The micro adjust on the front is also brilliant, no more chain rub. I know either the X-7 or the X-9 grips become slippery in the wet though, so go X-0 if you go.
  5. But, that said, I did take on an extra contract job for the six months leading delivery which helped a hang of a lot!
  6. *grin* I wish! It took me about two years to gather some extra bikes for people looking in to the sport - ended up with about 9 budget and mid-level bikes. Sold all but one as well as my and my wifes bike to get there....
  7. Saw those braces in person on Sat - was well impressed! Time to kick into savings mode again!
  8. Try skipping your first gear in your next rides - depending on what cassette you have, your second gear might be a 32.
  9. Looking at replacing my TLD Brian Lopes' with the new Raceface flank leg d30 pads or the Alpinestars pads. The flanks might be more versatile but can not find any reviews on them - anybody have a set that can comment?
  10. Yup, quite a few places stock them, Rush Sports in PMB brings them in - you can chat to Andre, he can put you in contact with a dealer local to you. Been on them for the last year or two and will not go elsewhere!
  11. But to answer your question, it really depends on quite a few things, dropping the saddle will be an obvious start, but I'd vote to have a setup done just to be sure.
  12. Odd question, but if you drop your heal, does your leg extend too far? Could just be a bad habit, not a setup issue?
  13. Single pivot will never be as efficient as some of the other designs - you really have to have it set up properly, but once done, both bikes are great! Pity you not in Cpt, could have given you a demo on my Ibis I am trying to sell!
  14. Good gravy dude no - you will be well ahead of the curve here. Even knee-high (even mid-chin high) drops freak me out a bit at this stage, all mental I tell you. Funny how you know you can do things, you know the bike can, but you don't have the stones to just do it! If anyone have a pill for that - I am open for research
  15. +1 They are the agents, so they will definitely be able to sort you out.
  16. I had that with two RavX's so far, have not bought them again
  17. Spike...
  18. Yup, been on one and have since serviced my own and some mate's forks - hugely helpful.
  19. Yup - went same route. Geco cycles in Cape Gate, Alu steerer was R120 if I remember correctly and labour was R200 to press.
  20. If you ever in Cpt, Action Cycles stocks a few items, but Recycle in Bellville had quite a few items, bought my wife's TLD kneepads there. Very reasonably priced.
  21. Riiiiiight - so I can say anything I want about anyone or their mothers and, if called upon, just claim it was a joke?
  22. The frame is not stolen, but the money I bought it with might have been... I do not have the serial numbers of the notes I used to paid for it
  23. Where you situated Airborne? My wheels won't fit in your bike (20mm front and 13mm rear) but you welcome to come have a look-see what it looks like if we 'hold' the wheels in your frame?
  24. True... Unfortunately it uses o-rings, not cable ties to fasten. Anyone know where one can get white o-rings of that size?
  25. Strength vs weight the Flows comes out as top dog every time. I had black Flows on red I-9 hubs and they in just under 1.8Kg's for a light freeride-capable wheelset, all the other options were just over 2kg's. DT Swiss has a great name, and is a great rim. You won't make a mistake going for either. Browse through MTBR as well for some insight, but it is surprising how many Flow's you'll see on AM bikes there. Spoken to the guy from SID bikes in NY as well and they are also sold on Flow. Riiiiight... Ai - she's a dream hey! Been able to spend a bit more time in the air thanks to the confidence she inspires. Round 13kg for 160mm travel bike with DW-platform, perfect go everywhere bike!
